Ele era demasiado: demasiado carinhoso, demasiado bondoso para um urso.

Ela era pouco: pouco organizada, pouco despachada para uma formiga.

Quando chegou a altura de se tornarem adultos, ninguém os quis… especialmenteos anciãos que queriam tudo dentro dos costumes. Depois de uma reunião demorada,foram ambos expulsos das suas aldeias.

Encontraram-se por acaso, numa estrada no meio do nada.Ao descobrir uma grande sombra, a formiga decidiu parar e descansar por um bocado.Tal foi o seu espanto quando, de repente, se apercebeu que dois grandes olhos a observavam:era um urso! A formiga correu desalmadamente a berrar:

- “É um urso! Salvem-me!” O urso correu atrás dela:

- “Não tenhas medo, eu não te quero fazer mal!” Mas a formiga não acredita nas palavras dele:

- “Salvem-me! Salvem-me! Um urso quer matar-me!” E o urso atrás dela ia:

- “Por favor, formiga, não tenhas medo de mim.Posso ser grande e forte, mas nunca ataquei nenhum animal…

aliás, foi por isso que me expulsaram da minha aldeia.” A formiga parou de correr,espantada, ao ouvir aquelas palavras:

- “Também foste expulso?”

Caminharam, assim, lado a lado enquanto conversavam edescobriam que as suas vidas tinham sido, de certo modo, iguais.

A meio da conversa, estando o urso farto de ter de andar devagar, virou-se para a formiga e disse:

- “Olha, não te queres montar nas minhas costas? Assim não precisava de andar tão devagar.”

A formiga soltou uma risada e, sem que o urso fosse capaz de acompanhar com o olhar,desatou a correr a uma velocidade impressionante e escondeu-se no meio da vegetação:

- Encontra-me se fores capaz! – Gritou a formiga.

Durante horas brincaram assim: o urso corria atrás da formiga, a formiga escondia-se atrásde um arbusto e gritava ao urso que ele era lento e nunca seria capaz de a apanhar.O urso seguia a direcção do som mas, quando lá chegava, já a formiga estava noutro arbustoqualquer a gritar novamente com ele.

No meio da correria, a formiga foi ter a um lago. Cansada como estava decidiu parar para beber.O urso, pelo meio da vegetação, observava a formiga enquanto bebia.

“Ela está distraída” pensou “É a minha oportunidade.”

Desatou a correr até perto da formiga e com a pata, deu-lhe um empurrão e ela voou, entre berros,para o meio do lago. O urso riu e riu, aos rebulanços, com as patas na barriga, que já lhe doia de tanto rir.

- Socorro! Urso, salva-me! Eu não sei nadar! – berrou a formiga de dentro de água.

O urso parou de rir repentinamente e olhou para a formiga que, com muito esforço,conseguia manter-se à superfície da água. Ao perceber o erro que tinha cometido,o urso correu para o meio da água para salvar a formiga. Ao chegar perto dela,disse-lhe para lhe subir para as costas, o que ela fez sem hesitar.Começou então a nadar de volta para a margem mas qual não foi seu espanto quando se apercebeuque tinha a pata presa debaixo de água. O urso, em pânico, tentou soltá-la,movendo-a em várias direções, mas nada funcionava e, aos poucos, estava a perder as forças e acomeçar a cair para dentro de água. De repente, diante dos seus olhos, apareceu a formiga:

- “Urso, olha para mim. Tu és capaz! Vá lá, junta toda a tua força e puxaaté não conseguires mais, vais ver que consegues soltar-te.”

O urso assim fez: juntou toda a força no braço e puxou até não conseguir mais. Quando estavaquase a desistir, a pata finalmente se soltou e puderam voltar para a margem. Deitaram-se os dois,

estendidos ao lado um do outro a descansar. A correria e o lago tinha-os deixado completamente exaustos.

Adormeceram e dormiram o resto do dia e toda a noite. Ao acordarem, no dia seguinte, o urso desculpou-se por tudoo que tinha acontecido e a formiga aceitou as suas desculpas. Sem eles saberem, tinha nascido ali uma amizade que duraria toda as suas vidas.Nenhum deles voltou para as suas vilas, mas também nenhum deles precisou pois, ao longo dos anos, mantiveram-se sempre juntos e viveramgrandes aventuras. Naquela estranha relação entre urso e formiga, sentiram-se desejados e amados, algo que nunca tinham tido.Acabaram por descobriram que os seus lares estavam dentro do coração um do outro. Sem julgamentos, só amor.

He was too much: too much soft, too much kind for a bear.

She was too little: too little organized, too little practical an ant.

When the time to become adults came, nobody wanted them... specially the elders who wantedeverything according to the standards. After a long meeting, they were expelled from their villages.

They ran with each other by accident, in a road in the middle of nowhere.

While discovering a big shadow, the ant decided to stop and rest for a while.

She realized that two big eyes watched her: it was a bear! The ant ran as fast as she could while screaming:

- "It is a bear! Someone save me!" The bear ran after her:

- "Don't be afraid, I don't want to hurt you!" But the ant doesn't believe his words:

- "Save me! Someone save me! A bear wants to kill me!" And the bear after her continued:

- "Please, ant, don't be afraid of me. I can be big and strong, but I never attacked any animal...In fact, that is why I was expelled from my village." The ant stopped running, surprised, when hearing those words:

- "You were also expelled?"

They walked, like that, side by side while they talked and figure out that their lives were, in a way, similar.

In the middle of the conversation, while the bear was tired of walking slowly, he turned to the ant and said:

- "Look, don't you want to ride on my back? That way I don't have to walk so slowly."

The ant laughed and, with tremendous haste, she started running with amazing speed and hidden in the middle of the woods.

"Find me if you can!" - Shouted the ant.

For hours they played like that: the bear chased the ant, the ant hidden behind a bush and screamed

to the bear that he was slow and he would never catch her. The bear would follow the sound, but,when he arrived, the ant was long gone in another bush shout again at him.

In the middle of the running, the ant went to a lake. Tired, she decided to stop to drink.The bear, in the middle of the woods, observed the ant while she drank.

"She is distracted" he thought "It is my chance."

He ran to the ant and with his foot, gave her a push and she flew away, screaming,into the middle of the lake. The bear laughed and laughed, rolling on the floor, withhis feet in his belly, that hurt from so much laughing.

- "Help! Bear, save me! I can't swim!" - Screamed the ant in the water.

The bear stopped laughing suddenly and looked at the ant that, with a lot of effort,

managed to stay on the surface. While realizing his mistake, the bear ran to the water to save the ant.While reaching her, he told her to climb to his back, and she did without hesitation.He started swimming back to the shore but he realized that he had his foot stuck underwater.The bear, panicking, tried to let it go, moving it in several directions, but nothing worked and,little by little, he was losing strength and starting to fall into the water. Suddenly, before his eyes, the ant appeared.

- "Bear, look at me. You can do it! Come on, gather all your strength and pulluntil you can't pull anymore, you can do it."

The bear did it: he gathered all his strength and pulled until he couldn't pull anymore.

When he was almost quitting, the foot got loose and they managed to reach the shore.They laid down, beside each other resting. The running and the lake left them completely exhausted.

They fell asleep and slept all day and all night. When waking up, the next day, the bear apologizedto the ant for everything and she accepted his apologies.Without them realizing, a new friendship that would last all their lives was born.

None of them returned to their villages, but also none of them needed that because,throughout the year, they kept together and lived great adventures. In that strange relationshipbetween bear and ant, they felt wanted and loved, something that they never had been.They discovered that their homes were inside each other's heart. No judgments, just love.
