The Word of God holds the answers for child rearing. No matter

how old or how young, whether you have children at this time or

not, a study of the Scriptures teaching on raising kids is profitable.

Heed God’s Words about training the hearts of your children in this

day of parental passiveness and apathy. Read Scripture alone, listen

for the Holy Spirit prompting you how to apply God’s Word. May

God bless you! This minibook does not list all the Scriptures in the exact order that they

appear in the Bible. Our intention is to encourage the reader to engage and really

contemplate the Scriptures. How can you apply what you’re reading to your life?

How do you see God’s Word showing us the root of the problems of feminism,

latchkey kids, rebellious youth, and broken families in the Word? What are the

solutions? What is God’s design for the family and each member in it? I pray that

as you read the Scriptures, you engage them and that the Holy Spirit teaches you.

Seek the Lord, you won’t regret it!

Grace and Peace and Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura),

And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul,

and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be

in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt

talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way,

and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for

a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And

thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Deuteronomy 6:5-9

Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind

them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine

house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest

up. 20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy

gates: 21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land

which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the

earth. 22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command

you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto

him; 23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall

possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves. 24 Every place whereon the

soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from

the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be. 25 There

shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of

you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said

unto you.

26 Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; 27 A blessing, if ye obey the

commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day: 28 And a curse,

if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the

way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

Deuteronomy 11:18-28

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in

sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and

he shall rule over thee. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened

unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee,

saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt

thou eat of it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth

to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face shalt

thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for

dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 20 And Adam called his wife's name

Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Genesis 3:16-20

And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one

was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah: 16 And he said, When ye do the

office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a

son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live. 17 But the

midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved

the men children alive. 18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said

unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive? 19 And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as

the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come

in unto them. 20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people

multiplied, and waxed very mighty. 21 And it came to pass, because the midwives

feared God, that he made them houses.

Exodus 1:15-21

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart,

and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him: 2 And

that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have

wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know

how that I am the LORD.

Exodus 10:1-2

Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I

teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which

the LORD God of your fathers giveth you. 2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I

command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the

commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. 3 Your eyes have

seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed

Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you. 4 But ye that

did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day. 5 Behold, I

have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me,

that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. 6 Keep therefore and

do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the

nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a

wise and understanding people. 7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God

so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for? 8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous

as all this law, which I set before you this day? 9 Only take heed to thyself, and

keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and

lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and

thy sons' sons; 10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in

Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will

make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they

shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Deuteronomy 4:1-10

When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he

shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing. 12 Gather

the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within

thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your

God, and observe to do all the words of this law: 13 And that their children, which

have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long

as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

Deuteronomy 31:11-13

There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before

all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the

strangers that were conversant among them.

And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this

woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home. 21 And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and

two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD.

1 Samuel 2:20-21

Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they

lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the

congregation. 23 And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your

evil dealings by all this people. 24 Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I

hear: ye make the LORD'S people to transgress. 25 If one man sin against another,

the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for

him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because

the LORD would slay them. 26 And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour

both with the LORD, and also with men. 27 And there came a man of God unto Eli,

and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy

father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house? 28 And did I choose him out

of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense,

to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the

offerings made by fire of the children of Israel? 29 Wherefore kick ye at my

sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and

honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the

offerings of Israel my people? 30 Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said

indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever:

but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour,

and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. 31 Behold, the days come, that I

will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an

old man in thine house. 32 And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the

wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine

house for ever. 33 And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar,

shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of

thine house shall die in the flower of their age. 34 And this shall be a sign unto

thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they

shall die both of them. 35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do

according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a

sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever. 36 And it shall come

to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a

piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of

the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.

1 Samuel 2:22-36

And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their

children.

2 Chronicles 20:13

Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them

rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of

Jerusalem was heard even afar off.

Nehemiah 12:43

Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: 16 Gather the

bride out of her closet.

Joel 2:28

Micah 2:9

As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my

people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

Isaiah 3:12

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his

disciples rebuked those that brought them. 14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much

displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and

forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. 15 Verily I say unto you,

Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter

therein. 16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed

them.

Mark 10:13-16

Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD

keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early,

to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. 3 Lo,

children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. 4 As

arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. 5 Happy is

the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall

speak with the enemies in the gate.

Psalms 127:1-5

Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways. 2 For thou

shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with

thee. 3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children

like olive plants round about thy table. 4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed

that feareth the LORD. 5 The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see

the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life. 6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children's

children, and peace upon Israel.

Psalms 128:1-6

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

9 For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. 11 If they say, Come with us, let

us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: 12 Let us

swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

13 We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: 14 Cast

in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: 15 My son, walk not thou in the way

with them; refrain thy foot from their path: 16 For their feet run to evil, and make

haste to shed blood.

Proverbs 3:21-22

Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. 3 For I was my father's son,

tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. 4 He taught me also, and said

unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. 5 Get

wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my

mouth. 6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep

thee. 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy

getting get understanding. 8 Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring

thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. 9 She shall give to thine head an

ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. 10 Hear, O my son,

and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. 11 I have taught

thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. 12 When thou goest, thy

steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.

13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

Proverbs 5:20-21

My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a

stranger, 2 Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the

words of thy mouth. 3 Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come

into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. 23 I

was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. 24 When

there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains

abounding with water. 25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I

brought forth: 26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the

highest part of the dust of the world. 27 When he prepared the heavens, I was

there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: 28 When he established

the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: 29 When he

gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when

he appointed the foundations of the earth: 30 Then I was by him, as one brought up

with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; 31 Rejoicing in

the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

32 Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep

my ways.

woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be

saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with

sobriety.

1 Timothy 2:13-15

Note: Womankind is saved in childbearing because woman (Mary) bore the

Savior.

But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he

hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

1 Timothy 5:8

I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house,

give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

1 Timothy 5:14

But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2 That the aged men be

sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3 The aged women

likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not

given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young

women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet,

chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of

God be not blasphemed. 6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7 In all

things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness,

gravity, sincerity, 8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the

contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. 9 Exhort

servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all

things; not answering again; 10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that

they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11 For the grace of

God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying

ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in

this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of

the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he

might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people,

zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all

authority. Let no man despise thee.

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the

fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the

world.

James 1:27

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by

constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3 Neither as

being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4 And when the

chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not

away.

1 Peter 5:2-4

Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject

one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and

giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand

of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he

careth for you.

Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not

your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in

their heart; and they have not known my ways. 11 So I sware in my wrath, They

shall not enter into my rest.) 12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an

evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. 13 But exhort one another

daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the

deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the

beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; 15 While it is said, To day if ye

will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. 16 For some,

when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by

Moses. 17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had

sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom sware he that they

should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? 19 So we see that they

could not enter in because of unbelief.
