Origins of Child LaborChild labor was originated in 1850 in Europe. It

went from city to countries when people learnedthat they can make more money by underpaying children in polluting factories. This iswhen the industrial revolution began. This was atime when rich people thought that they could

get more rich by creating a city life so that theycan make factories to hire children to do thingsfaster for their businesses. By doing this theywere able to move the people off the farms andinto the cities. At this time they found out thatthey can get twice as much money by tradingwith other countries because they didnt havethe same products in their country. The main citythat originally started child labor or childrenworking in factories was London they movedmost of the population off of farms and into thecities so that they can stay in little cramped flatsto work in these polluting factories. Londonoriginally was not ready for all of these people tostay in there cramped cities most families had tostay in one room that were cramped and theycould barely move around. Eventually they

started to make the families pay a lot of rent forjust one room so this caused mothers to sendtheir children to the factories to work with them. Most of the children had odd little jobs that theyhad to do to keep a roof over their families head.So originally they were forced into child labor bytheir parents and now children are still forcedinto the labor by their parents, their parents sellthem to these farms or factories. Basically childlabor started back in the 1850s and still goes ontoday, but if you consider house chores childlabor then you can say its been going onforever. But hopefully child labor will be stoppedsome time soon and maybe people out there willhelp stop this now that they know that it started along time ago and that it still goes on today.

What is Child Labor?Child labour is work that is mentally, physically, socially, or morally

harmful to children. There are 218 million children ages 5-17 around the worldthat are engaged in child labour and 126 million are engaged in the worst formof child labour. They work in very hazardous conditions, often being beaten, anbeing sexually abused by their employers. Some have to work up to 18 hours aday, most of the time not leaving the factory or looms. Also one out of sevenchildren is forced into this kind of labour. Most of them don't get to go to schooor be even able to spend time with the family and play outside like the otherchildren.

Children all over the world suffer from the hard labor that their owners

put them through. They work them hard to the ground they always work longhours to the point where they feel like dying. These children sometimes have towork in mines or in sweatshops or factories that are very harmful to theenvironment which is very bad. Every year about 22,000 children die fromaccidents related to work because they don't care about the children's health otheir safety. And it is estimated to take $760 billion and 20 years to get ride ofchild labor all the way. Someone needs to know that this still goes on and that needs to be stopped right now and there needs to be laws enforced, in India.

There was laws enforced but the owners just pay there fine and go right back tmaking the children working. So I hope that this informs you about what youdidnt know.

    Child Labor Editorial

There is a big crisis that is happening all over the world and nobodyis trying to put a stop to it. The big crisis that I am talking about is

happening all around the world is child labor. We have to put a stopto this child labor mishap that has children doing unfair and cruelwork for a little bit of money to feed their family. Hundreds andthousands of children have chosen to do paid work in factories, farms, and or construction hazard areas in order to provide for therefamily. These wrong doing people hire 6 and 7-year-old children, ifnot younger, to work part time in their business, if not full time.Children of all sizes are hired as young as 12 to work 10 or more

hours a day, five to seven days a week. I feel that no child should beforced to do such work or punishment as I would say instead of work. These poor children should not have to work for there families, butthey have to so that he or she can be able to eat with there familiesand not starve to death. They are not just punished by hard laborwork, but they are also abused by these people both mentally andphysically. The poor children are being beaten by these grown men. Idont believe that the people who buy the products, that are made by

the child labor victims, should have to deal with the responsibility ofthem. I think that the people that are forcing these little children towork for less then minimum wage should have to be the one to dealwith the actions and responsibility of these children. Why should theinnocent people who want there products have to be punishedinstead of the people who run the illegal operation. Why don'tconsumers who buy the products that they can not live without don't

know how they are made or by whom they are made from? Shouldthese consumers have to bare with the responsibility of the buy if it isin fact made by the child labor victims? Can or will that person evenstop buying the products that are indeed made by the child laborvictims?

    Iqbal By: Francesco Dadamo

Imagine being forced into working because your parents dont haveenough money to pay off a house or buy there children food. A child namedIqbal Masih was a boy who was forced to work in a carpet factory because hisfather was in debt 26 dollars his sister was suppose to go and work for him but

he decided to go instead. He worked for Hussain Khan who was the carpetfactory owner. Thats were it all began Iqbal was forced to make carpets forquite some time and he had a good talent going at it. He was the one whomade the more quality ones that the higher class bought. He has escaped thefactory a couple times but has came back with police but Hussain would justpay them and just pretend nothing happened. The very last time he escapedhe went to a man who was part of Bonded Front Labor Liberation who hashelped Iqbal the most at shutting down the factory. After that Iqbal has helpedthat foundation with shutting down many factories.

I think child labor is cruel and brutal and it should be stopped becausewhats the point besides the country saving money on not paying minimumwage. The book was pretty good learning more about how bad they treated thekids and how they didnt feed them or didnt really let them bathe. I think Iqbal isa good hero because hes saved so many kids lives by stopping the factoriesfrom child labor. I do recommend this book because youll learn more aboutchild labor and read about how bad they treated them and how they wereforced to work.

    Child Labour Poem Review

As her soft toes clutch the sand Imagine not having shoes to wear on your feet. Inthis poem called Child Labour this woman, named

Srividhya talks about this struggling girl who is homelesswho has nothing to eat. Srividhya also talks about how thelittle girl is craving the life of other children that she seesplaying by their home. The poem is so sad andheartbreaking that you just want to cry, as the elderlypeople look down at this hopeful looking girl, the girl startsto cry. She knows she has to go back to that horrible placethat works her to the ground.

There is child labor all over India and personally Ithink that this poem is made for everyone to realize that thistill goes on even though there were laws enforced in India

This poem really relates to child labor just because itshows how these children feel. Not many poems describethe children feelings or how they look or what they want. Iliked the way the poem flowed from scene to scene. Theway she showed the girl walking through a town as shethinks about how she would have to work again. The poemitself was overall good it really showed feeling andemotional.

    Child Labour

As she walks along the lonely street,As the soft breeze caresses her golden cheeks,

As her hair dances in the swaying wind,As her eyes dazzle in the gray moonlight,

As her soft toes clutches the sand,As the warmth of the night kisses her brows,As the aroma of sweets tickles her nose,

As she watches the rockets shoot up in the sky,As she glares at the crackers which rustle in the air

As she watches the children in glee,As the face of the elders brighten up in joyThe sweet little angel walks back and forth

With tears trickling down her eyes,I can see the reason why!

Child labour must be banned!!For which we must do all we can!!!
