“Pageant Parents”
Child’s decision < Parent’s decisionChildren are put into
pageants before they are able to consent.
Beauty Pageants are more an outlet forparent’s than children.
Parents are living Through their children.
The Child loses
• Children lose their innocence, values and an important time in their life
– Practicing takes up all their time for:
• School work
• Playing– Helps Children Learn– Shapes them for the future
• Household Chores
The Child loses cont.
• No more fun and games.• Children learn things too early.
– Beauty Pageants corrupts them
– See and hear things that affects them
– Exposed to things that can effect:• Their future• Their relationships with others
Relationships
• Relationships can change between:– Peers
• Feel prettier or better than others.• Children can feel superiority over the losers.• Losers lose self-confidence• Competition will make them lose friendships
– Parents• Adult attitude will lead them to believe they are equal to
parents.• They won’t listen or challenge the parent’s authority.
Pageant Beauty
• Pageant Beauty includes:– Make-up
• Make up is caked on to cover up the flaws on a young girl’s face.
• Gives the allusion that the little girl is older
• Make up is the most important to make these little girls ideal.
Pageant Beauty Cont.
– Extensions • Usually young girls’ hair are thin so there are
extensions added in to make it fuller.– Tan
• Young girls’ are sometimes pale and are given a tan to make their skin tone even.
– Expensive clothes• Thousands of dollars are spent on a new dress
for each pageant.
Pageant Beauty Cont.
• Flipper (false teeth)
• Takes the place of missing teeth
• Cost around $400
• Missing teeth doesn’t appeal to the judges.
