    I. and III. Conservation Issue Project to "Think Globally, Act Locally

    What project do you plan for your community and when will you make your presentation of this

    project? Pick one or add your own.

    Work with the town of Chestermere, or the MD of Rockyview to restore native plant

    landscaping to an area in June. Work with Artists in the Environment (Calgary Parks and Recreation) to plant trees in City

    Parks in the Adopt A Park project in June.

    Work with Scouts Canada to plan and run the Scout Trees event in May. Work with Alberta Fisheries to help stock the Michichi Lake reservoir with trout in the

    spring.

    Organize and run a Chestermere shoreline clean up in April. Work with the Western Irrigation District to restore canal shorelines or plant vegetation to

    control erosion for one of the Irrigation District members in May.

    Organize a trip for the troop to the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area interpretive

    centre.

    For Environment Week (May 30-Jun 5) arrange to bring a speaker from CAWST or CPAWSto talk on Rivers Running Dry.

    Register and arrange for the troop to attend the free Environmental Expo at the Calgary

    Municipal building June 1-4. Run a one day event entitled the Carrot that Saved the World to encourage growing carrots,

    conserving water and reducing packaging waste. Invite Carrot recipes and give out carrot

    seeds. Organize a trip to Enmax to study solar and wind power installations.

    Celebrate River Day (Sat, June 15) with an information stand on rivers at Princess Island

    Park.

    6. CHALLENGING PROGRAM

    I. Requirement #6 requires that you and a Scouter must design a program that will be a challenge

    for you. Needless to say, it must be more difficultthan and cannot include what you did to earn

    the Pathfinder Award.My challenging program in each activity area will include:

    a. How I will excel in Citizenship (Pick one or more):

    c Organize work for your patrol at the LDS BishopsStorehouse stocking shelves or cleaning up for a few weeks.

    c Volunteer to read at the childrens hospital for a few weeks.c Read to disabled and bed-ridden for 4 weeks at the

    Carewest Fanning Centre.c Volunteer at the local pool or recreation centre to help run a

    youth after-school drop-in program for a few weeks.c Research and write a report on a past prime minister of

    Canada.

    c Work with another organization such as Rotary or CLOCA.c Volunteer to help staff the weekend run to end breast

    cancer.c Organize a troop tour to the weekly Chestermere town

    council meeting.c Volunteer at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay

    Community Celebration in Chestermere or Calgary.

    bend, sheepshank, clove hitch, round turn and two halfhitches, and bowline) on individual ropes is 15 seconds

    (record is 8.1 seconds).c Start two fires without matches or lighters.c Build a latrine with a plastic seat.c Plan some outdoor patrol activities which will be without

    your leaders. Please exclude any water activities.

    c Develop a skill in an outdoor backwoods sport and report onit to the court of honor.c Volunteer to help plan and run a camp for a younger group.c Collect 50km in hiking camps or equivalents since your

    Voyageur Level.

    II. There is a requirement for 30 hours of leadership in addition to any time spent completing theCitizenship activity area. This should be provided outside of Scouting.
