Position Description Overview:

The Chief Information Officer is the leader of IT across the hospital, 54 employed physicians, and 9 clinics. The CIO provides leadership for IT strategy and planning, budgeting, data integrity, and information security. The organization views this as a key position that will drive innovation forward, looking towards the future of patient-led healthcare.

The CIO provides management direction and leadership for IT systems development, analysis and design, programming, implementation and acquisition of computer and communications equipment. The CIO acts as the Information Security Officer responsible for HIPAA Security compliance. The current Director of Technology is retiring after 22 years with the organization.

Financially strong, with over 400 days of cash on hand and margins around 2.5%, the Board of Directors is proud of Independent Organization/ownership.

Currently on Meditech 6.0, KDH will be evaluating their IT systems over the next 6-12 months. This individual will lead the selection process.

As the organization moves forward with technology, more formal structure needs to be added to the department, comprised of two managers and a team of 20. Even though a small team, the department is able to provide great service and meets the user needs by finding ways to say “Yes”, even if the vendor says “No”.

Responsibilities: • Establish IT strategic plan in alignment with KDH’s overall organizational strategic plan • Strengthen IT governance and change control processes • Conduct IT organizational review of IT Security and Disaster Recovery current state and

evaluate necessary changes as appropriate • Conduct vendor evaluation with analysis of capital and operational budget expense • Review contracts and look for ways to save on maintenance fees

Qualifications: Required: • Bachelor’s degree • Proven strong leader who can follow a tenured, retiring director • Demonstrated ability to build trust with the Leadership and IT team • Experience leading an IT security program • Experience developing capital and operational budgets • Proven ability to manage contracts and budgets (both capital and operating) • Demonstrated leadership experience in management of Healthcare Information Systems

Desired: • Master’s Degree • Experience leading a major implementation

Recreation

Madison’s natural location among the limestone bluffs of the Ohio River lends itself to outdoor recreational activities. Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge and Clifty Falls State Park contain scenic waterfalls and hiking trails great for wildlife observation and photography. A city marina and area docks provide boating and fishing opportunities. There are also numerous area biking routes are great for family outings. Madison’s 4.3-acre riverfront Park is home to their annual outdoor festival and many events. Three area golf courses, horseback riding trails and campgrounds add to the list of recreation options.

Community Life

Weekly and monthly family-friendly activities take place in downtown Madison and include outdoor live music concerts, arts and craft fairs, farmer’s markets, antique shows, car shows, cultural fairs, food festivals and holiday inspired events throughout the year. The annual Madison Regatta on the Ohio River is a popular two day hydroplane boat race.

Historic downtown Madison is one of only six designated Indiana Cultural districts. Its filled with art galleries, specialty and antique shops and malls. Residents and visitors frequent the nearby wineries and bed & breakfast inns.
