COT Oil Processor Hydraulic

1. A filter unit for deep-filtering of solid particles down to a size of one micron (1/1,000 millimeter). The filter is based on a unique cotton core that has a progressive construction with the same effect as a large filter area and effectively collects more particles than conventional filters.

2. An evaporation process which removes water and other volatile contaminants. The unit reaches an exactly fixed temperature without thermostat or other form of regulator.

before after

Sample 1 Initial sample of the oil in the machine. The oil has not been

changed or cleaned in a long time and is highly contaminated.

Sample 2 The initial sample directly after the oil has passed through the

filter. The oil has passed through the filter once. An indication of

the filter’s so-called “Beta value” is provided. The particle count

indicates an approximate beta value of 6.

Sample 3 The oil in the machine after circulating in the test rig for 100 hrs.

The machine has mostly been in use during this time.

Sample 4 The oil in the machine after circulating in the test rig for approx.

300 hrs.

Report of test on COT Hydraulic filter

The test is performed on the hydraulic filter of a plastic injection mould at Plast

Orion AB.

The oil is continuously circulated through the filter in a separate circuit with an

in- and outflow directly connected to the tank. The flow is of approx. 1.5 l/min at

a pump pressure of 5 bar.

The machine has partly been run during the test.

Samples have been analysed by Statoil and their particle counts are reported.

The test was interrupted after sample 4 as

the filter was deemed to be saturated with dirt

particles.

Mobile application / environmental oil

The test was performed on 20 liters of Environmentally friendly hydraulic oil and the water

content exceeded 5 liters. The oil originated from hydraulic equipment used in a piece of

forest machinery. After 24hrs of the test, the filter element was replaced

.

The last sample was taken after 300hrs.

• The lab summary in sample number one (please see following page) was that the

water contents were so high that no conclusions could be drawn.

• The final lab summary from sample number 5 (please see following) was that oil wear

seemed normal and there were no traceable contaminants.
