Not mentioning specific universities and or your chosen courses - less emphasis on explaining your course and university choices. Not demonstrate a clear understanding of the department or institutions you had selected. Provide unfocussed outline of your Study Plans and Career plans Choice of three unrelated courses with no explanation as to why these subjects had been chosen or how they related to each other. Top tips – Don’t and Dos

The question requiring information about Career Plan:

Do Don’t

Articulated how your own career development is linked to the overall development of Egypt as a country. Be Realistic Details of how you will reach your career goals. The good applicants clearly defined what their plans were with a timeline and justification for each step. Show how a scholarship would affect your discipline, your career, Egypt and the UK on a wider scale. identify ways that your Chevening Scholarship would help you to achieve your goals.

Limit your career plan on ONLY how it

would impact you personally ( personal gains only) Write an unrealistic career plan Only mentioning a PhD as their ultimate career plan and failing to show how a scholarship would affect your discipline, your career, Egypt and the UK on a wider scale. Answered inadequately with only a short paragraph. Not explaining your intention to return to your home country, as this would not meet the country development aspect of the Chevening Scholarship’s objectives.
