RIVER’S EDGE PARK OPENS!North of Taubman Outlet Mall

Grand Opening!

Chesterfi eld Parks & Recreati on is excited to announce the Grand Opening of our newestpark, River’s Edge! We will celebrate the GrandOpening on Saturday, April 11 from 11 a.m.unti l 2 p.m. The festi viti es will include handson outdoor acti viti es and free snacks will beavailable to the fi rst 200 people. River’s Edgeis a beauti ful 188-acre passive park with a 38.5-acre lake. The park features a 2+ mile crushed limestone walking trail with breathtakingscenery and wonderful wildlife. The parkis located on the north side of the levee nearthe Taubman Outlet Mall at the westernend of the parking lot. Parking will be in theshared parking lot of the outlet mall.

Park Rules & Regulati ons:• Motor-free boats are welcome in the lake; however, must be portaged from the road. All motor vehicles or motor boats are prohibited in the lake. No trolling motors.• All state fi shing regulati ons apply. Visit mdc.mo.gov/fi shing/fi shing-regulati ons for more informati on. All parti cipants must have a Missouri Fishing License or be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian if under the age of 18. • No trotline, jug or tree limb line fi shing.• For safety reasons, the following acti viti es are prohibited: swimming, hunti ng, camping, ice skati ng and skateboarding. No glass bott les or tobacco products, weapons of any kind. Fireworks or explosives are not permitt ed in the park.

We will be joining thousands of families participating in the National Wildlife Federation’s American Backyard Campout. Activities will include: a trail walk, outdoor activities, a reptile expert and the evening will close with a campfire.

Tents can be set up beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Camping gear should be removed by no later than 10 a.m. on Sunday. All participants MUST sleep in their tents.

There must be at least one adult (over the age of 21) in attendance for each tent the entire campout. Porta Pottieswill be on site; with restrooms within 500 feet from the parking lot.

City Provides• Campout dinner, activities, light breakfast and campfire.

Families Provides• Tent, beverages, camping gear and snacks for the family.

Please leave all pets at home. Min/Max Tents: 10/20.

Build boats from corrugated cardboard and duct tape! The boats must hold at least two people and make it 50 feet to the finish line. The oars have to be made of cardboard or you can use your hands! The boats will race in heats for time. Life jackets must be worn by all participants while they are in their boats. The participants will be divided into two age categories of 13 and under and 14 and above. Everyone must haul away their boats or remains after the event. Call to register at 636.812.9500.

PICKLEBALL!Chesterfi eld now has an outdoor pickleball court at theCVAC! The season will startoff with a clinic, which willbe held by an Ambassadorfor the USAPA in St. Louis on Tuesday, April 21 at 10 a.m. (rain date is April 23). The Ambassador will cover a brief history of the game and will explain the rules.

To make reservati ons, please call 636.812.9500. Games will be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. beginning on Thursday, April 23 (or April 28 for rain date). Individuals that do not

have their own paddle and balls, can come into the ParkOffi ce and can pick up the equipment and return when fi nished. All that is needed to rent is a valid drivers license. Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competi ti ve game for experienced players. This fun sport combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.

The Chesterfield Swim Team is a recreational team with an emphasis on developing basiccompetitive swim skills, while having fun and making new friends. The Swim Team will compete against other teams in the Southwest St. Louis County Municipal Swim League.

This clinic is specially designed for diving off a diving board and is for all skill levels from beginner to advanced divers. The Coast Guard will put on the boating skills and seamanship course. It is a comprehensive course designed for both the experienced and the novice boater. The course will fulfill the requirements for the MO Highway Patrol and allow you to apply for your Missouri Boaters license. This 38-acre park offers a scenic trail that wraps around a beautiful lake with a gazebo bridge, an Art Walk and landscaped stream walks for the more adventurous travelers. Parents can relax on the benches at the playgound, while kids swing and climb on the jungle gyms as they play with their friends.

The Central Park playground will undergo some major surface repairs this year and a few play feature improvements. The Parks & Recreation Division will be adding a synthetic surface for year round play and increased safety.

NATIVE PRAIRIE GARDENThe Chesterfi eld Parks & Recreati on Division received a Community Stewardship Grant through the Missouri Department of Conservati on to turn a one acre fi eld of turf grass at Eberwein Park into an interacti ve nati ve prairie planti ng. Nati ve prairies provide quality habitat and food sources for local wildlife, especially our pollinators. The prairie will incorporate walking paths throughout, and provide opportuniti es for learning about the plants, animals, and insects that share our parks. A seed mix of colorful nati ve perennial fl owers and grasses was installed in the fall of 2014. Many nati ve perennial fl owering plants take 3-5 years to start producing fl owers, so be prepared to discover new plants with each passing season and enjoy watching our prairie while it matures.

DOG PARKThis two-acre Dog Park off ers pups the opportunity to explore the great outdoors, whether its running around with their friends or exploring the trees and bushes, with separate areas for small and large dogs. The Dog Park is open to residents ONLY and each dog must wear their own dog park tag. Dog tags for each dog are $30 and are available at City Hall during normal business hours or for online registrati on, please go to chesterfi eld.mo.us/eberweindogpark.html. To register your dog, you will need to have documentati on that the dog has been spayed or neutered, proof of residency and rabies records for each dog. Dogs younger than four months are not allowed in the Dog Park.

MONARCH-CHESTERFIELD LEVEE TRAILThe Monarch-Chesterfi eld Levee Trail is an 11 mile long trail that will encompass the majority of commercial, industrial and recreati onal land uses in Chesterfi eld Valley. Due to constructi on on the Daniel Boone Bridge, a porti on of the trail is closed through 2016. Once the Daniel Boone Bridge reopens, there will be a pedestrian bike path across the bridge connecti ng to the Katy Trail that will increase the excepti onal trail riding experience for over 250 miles.

RIPARIAN TRAILThe Riparian Trail is a half mile long and is partof a three-phase plan to construct a pedestrian/bike path, which will begin near the Aquati cCenter and will extend to Old Chesterfi eldRoad. The trail will eventually connect to the Monarch-Chesterfi eld Levee Trail. Parking is available at the Family Aquati c Center parking lot. The trail’s east entrance can be found on the south side of Lydia Hill Drive at its intersecti on with Veterans Place Drive.

RIVER’S EDGE PARK North of Taubman Outlet Mall

River’s Edge Park is a beautiful 188-acre passive park with a 38.5-acre lake. The park features a 2+ mile walking trail with breathtaking scenery and wonderful wildlife. The park is located on the north side of the levee near the Taubman Outlet Mall on the western end of the parking lot. Parking is in the shared parking lot of the outlet mall.

W.F. DIERBERG MEDITATION PARK 13701 Olive Boulevard

The W.F. Dierberg Meditation Park is a 2-acre park that features walking paths, open green space, park benches, a butterfly garden and a fountain.

The City currently operates and maintains 43 acres of wetland area, located on the east side of the A5 field at the CVAC on the north side of the levee, which consists of a nature trail and boardwalk.

RESIDENCY POLICYResidents may only receive the discounted rates on programs, rentals, pool passes (new and renewals) and daily admissions if an official valid Missouri drivers license or state ID card, with valid Chesterfield address is presented at the time of the transaction. 2015 pool season passes, programs and rentals are available for purchase at City Hall. FEES & CHARGES POLICYThe City of Chesterfield Parks & Recreation Division prides itself on providing a wide variety of recreational services to its citizens. The Division recognizes its responsibility to providerecreational opportunities that contribute toward the quality of life in Chesterfield. Realizing that tax dollars alone should not subsidize programs and facilities, fees and charges have been established to help offset existing costs. The prime objective of these

guidelines is to develop a policy to efficiently direct our Division toward a more consistent and effective method of establishing fees and charges while, at the same time, maintaining a high degree of equity for Chesterfield citizens.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICIESTwenty-five percent (25%) of the registration fee will be charged to cover administrative and processing costs. The City will process all refunds according to the bill-paying schedule. There will be no cash refunds. No refunds will be made except: • When a class/program/special event is canceled or closed by the Parks & Recreation Division due to low enrollment or other circumstances. In this case, the City will provide a 100% refund.• When the refund is requested at least fourteen (14) days in advance of the class/program/special event, provided it does not reduce the proper participation level below the required minimum.• When participants become ill (you must present a doctor’s statement) and notify the Parks & Recreation Division. However, you will be assessed the 25% administration fee and the remaining fee will be prorated as long as your cancellation does not reduce the participation level below the required minimum.

Reservation permits for the use of the Family Aquatic Center and the Central Park Pavilion can be obtained at City Hall, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. CHESTERFIELD FAMILYAQUATIC CENTERThe Aquatic Center is availablefor rental from 8:15 p.m.- 11 p.m. on Fridays-Sundays during the pool season. A $200 security damage deposit is required for reservations. All Chesterfield Family Aquatic Center rules are applicable to private parties.

CHESTERFIELD AMPHITHEATERThe amphitheater can host a variety of theatrical, musical, educational, corporate events

and is perfect for hosting a wedding. With 304 fixed seats and the ability to hold around 4,000 overall, as well as the 4,200 sf performance platform, the amphitheater is equipped to host large or small events. Set within Central Park, the Chesterfield Amphitheater is an intimate and stylish venue that combines state-of-the-art audio technology and modern architecture with community charm. The gazebo behind the amphitheater is also available for a small gathering for events.

CENTRAL PARK PAVILIONPermits for use of the pavilion may be obtained at City Hall. The Pavilion is available seven days a week from 9 a.m. to dusk, all year round for our residents only. A $100 security deposit is required.

CHESTERFIELD VALLEYATHLETIC COMPLEXThis 176-acre complex in the Valley consists of sixteen (16) ball diamonds, fourteen (14) multi-purpose fields (football, soccer, Lacrosse and Frisbee), fourteen (14) practice baseball and softball fields, four (4)

concession buildings, two (2) playgrounds, plus three (3) parking lots. These fields are utilized for organized play such as camps, clinics, tournaments and youth and adult leagues. Reservation permits are always required for facility use. The Complex is a gated facility and is only open during scheduled activities.

CVAC PARTY PACKAGE$100 for residents. $150 for general.(Dates and times are subject to availability).This summer, come celebrate at the CVAC! The CVAC Party Package is a perfect fit to hostyour child’s next party. The package includes:• Your choice of sports themes including Wiffle Ball, Kickball, Soccer, and Lacrosse (comes with sports equipment)• Two hours of rental time for the Miracle Field• Exclusive use of a pavilion• Three pizzas with an option to order more• Unlimited # of guests

Resident individuals must present an official current Missouri drivers license or state ID card, with valid Chesterfield address listed at the time of transactions. All Chesterfield businesses must bring a business license or a written request on company letterhead to receive the business rate.

Pedal the Cause, a cycling event that raises funds to support cancer research, is coming to the Chesterfield Amphitheater! Pedal the Cause has seen extraordinary growth in the

number of cyclists who are determined to end cancer and raised $2.76 million in 2014 to accelerate lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Caner Center and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. An outline
