At very busy days, for instance during major events like a city marathon, or in case of an emergency the public transport systems can be overloaded due to the movement of large groups of visitors. By early detection of these movements

proper action can be taken to avoid escalations.

Chess offer a solution to increase safety and security in public transport during major events and in case of

emergencies .

This solution is based on the advanced 3-D camera from Chess, crowd density technology of TNO and on innovative security management method of BSS. This solution is used

to manage the movement of people in different crowded environments like platforms, corridors and stairs.

Demonstrator platform

This demonstrator platform can be used for a pilot project to learn more about crowd behavior in public transport systems both

during busy office days as well as during major events. After such a pilot project a final product can be developed for permanent

installation in public transport systems.

The output of this system can support people in the control room of the public transport system. Early warnings can be given about number of people, directions of crowd movement and changes in

behavior of crowds.
