It is very often for teenage boys/male artists to feature on the front cover of a pop magazine aimed at young girls. At their age they are often interested in boys. They are especially attracted to the ones who are their favourite artist or belong to their favourite boy band. They love to read and see pictures of them. The images are placed within the left hand in third; this is where the Western eye will go first. It is clear that the magazine has placed these here so that the audience will see them first and be persuaded instantly to buy the publication in question. The appeal of these sell-lines is heightened by the subject matter; the female reader will be dying to know their favourite male artist’s secrets and will be lured in by the promise of a glimpse of their ‘lush six pack’.

The barcode and price are hidden, as they do not need to be seen by the audience. By the time the audience look for and find the price, they will already have been lured in by the front cover and therefore the price of the publication will not affect their decision to buy it.

As mentioned before, the TA will love to find out their favourite artist’s secrets! It will make them feel exceptional, ‘in with the crowd’ and as if they have been given exclusive access to the personal world of the artist in question. Within this sell-line, alliteration is used extensively to make it sound catchier and attention grabbing.
