    are engineers.

    Engineering Ethics

    Engineering ethics also means the setof justified moral principles of obligation,

    rights and ideals that ought to beendorsed, as they apply generally and toengineering in particular, by thoseengaged in engineering. Clarifying such

    principles and applying them to concretesituations is the central goal ofengineering ethics as an area of study.

    Moral Dilemmas and Related Issues

    Moral reasons are many and varied andthey frequently in conflict creating moraldilemmas.

    Moral dilemmas- are situations in whichtwo or more moral obligations, duties, rights,goods or ideals come in conflict with oneanother.

    It is also possible for one moral principle tohave two or more incompatible applications in agiven situation

    Moral DilemmaBecause moral principles can conflict,

    it is often difficult or impossible toformulate rules that are absolute, that isnever have a justified exception.

    They have justified exceptions whenthey conflict with other rules that aremore important in the situation.

    Conceptual clarification is theelucidation of moral ideas and morally

    relevant notions. In general, moral ideas,like most ideas in everyday life, containareas of vagueness (lack of clearmeaning) and ambiguity (two or more

    meanings) that need to be dealt with.

    Technological risks however should notovershadow technological benefits, andethics involve appreciating the manypositive dimensions of engineering that so

    deeply enriching our lives.
