Metal-assisted synthesis of diphosphino ketenimines, derived from one of the simplest and most readily available diphosphine of type (I), is described for complex (III). It is expected to be extended to a number of cationic bis(diphenylphosphino)methane-manganese complexes bearing two-electron ligands other than isocyanide in (I).
