Balloon Mini LabObjective: To observe a chemical reaction and observe the

law of conservation of mass.Procedure:1. Place on scoop of sodium bicarbonate into the balloon.2. Place one pipette full of acetic acid in the Erlenmeyer

flask.3. Find the mass of both the balloon and flask.4. Place the balloon around the mouth of the flask and

allow the sodium bicarbonate to fall into the flask. You may need to hold the balloon on the flask.

5. Find the mass of both the balloon and flask after the reaction.

Match Mini-Lab• Objective: To observe a chemical reaction and the change in

mass of a burned object.• Procedure:

– Measure the mass of 3 matches. Record the results and an observation of the match. Be sure to use a weigh boat and tare the balance.

– Allow the match to burn for 20-30 seconds if possible. Be careful not to burn your fingers. Blow it out.

– Allow the matches to cool. Measure and record the mass of the burned matches.

– Place the burned matches in the beaker of water.• Data:• Conclusion:
