1 ISSUE 108 August 15th, 2012 On the night of August 9, the 23rd Bluestar International Summer Camp closed with a ceremony at Beijing Olympic Center Stadium. When the host wrapped up the evening, saying “Goodbye Summer Camp, goodbye teachers and goodbye students! We now bring to a close the concluding ceremony of the 23rd Bluestar International Summer Camp. Let’s meet next year!,” campers on the stage who had just finished singing the theme song in unison burst into tears in each other’s arms, reluctant to say goodbye to one another. The 20 days of summer camp life will now become an unforgettable memory for them. ChemChina President Ren Jianxin watched the entire show along with campers before delivering the keynote speech of the evening. He said, “ Twenty three years ago, we, out of basic consideration for employees’ wellbeing, held the first Bluestar Summer Camp. Now, the summer camp has gone far beyond our original simple expectations to such an extent that it actually embodies and enriches Bluestar’s values and embraces our social responsibility as well as bringing us numerous surprises and opportunities to learn. Over the past 23 years, Bluestar summer camp spread from Lanzhou across the rest of the country and became a long-cherished part of summer break for a growing number of our children. This year, nearly 1,200 campers from 11 countries attended the event in 24 Chinese cities, including 54 children from ten other countries, including France, Norway, UK and Australia, who attended activities at the Beijing No.1 division of the camp, and 19 children from Gulang of Gansu province and 24 children of Bluestar employees who participated in the activities of the Beijing No.2 division. Every one of you is an indispensable part of Bluestar summer camp, and your presence has made Bluestar summer camp more special than ever before. I saw the good work you did for the layout design contest during the summer camp, and I’d like to say from the bottom of my heart that all of you are great! I am proud of you! I’m sure the words, pictures and cartoons you used to memorialize the wonderful moments of the camp will move and influence other children in the future, and Bluestar spirit and corporate culture will be passed down from generation to generation. During the evening, little campers sang, danced and played saxophone, violin and electronic organ, receiving wave after wave of applause. Chinese and foreign campers together gave an eye-popping demonstration of stylish basketball moves. Foreign campers performed an English version of a song from “Kungfu Panda” with their facilitators, exhibiting their interest in and love for Chinese kung fu. In particular, the evening culminated in a Rubik's cube contest between campers from Beijing No.1 and No.2 divisions. The ceremony was attended by children from Beijing No.1 and No.2 divisions, leaders from ChemChina HQ and subsidiaries, Bluestar employees in Beijing and journalists from People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, Economic Daily and Guangming Daily. BLUESTAR NEWSLETTERBLUESTAR NEWSLETTERBLUESTAR NEWSLETTER

We were privileged to be chosen to

come to China on the 23rd Bluestar

Summer Camp with our team leader

Darren.

One of the activities was to visit a Red

Cross Camp in Beijing and learn a

whole lot of new things.

Some of these included washing our

clothes, making our beds and learning

to live alongside our fellow campers,

such as the Chinese, French, Norwe-

gians, Americans, Brazilians and numer-

ous other nationalities that were there

with us.

One day it rained so hard we thought it

would never stop! We had to be carried from

the classroom across the deep water so we

could get back to our dormitories, but we did

it….with a little teamwork.

We ate simple Chinese food that some of us

liked, and some of us didn’t….but it made us

appreciate how good the food is at the

Qiaobo Ski Resort Hotel, and for that, we

offer our gratitude.

Everybody helped us when we were feeling

unwell and were thoughtful and kind to us at

all times.

Although the conditions were harder for us,

we were more than pleased to participate in

the events, especially when we designed the

flag with the motto...it was a great effort by

our Class 2 friends.

The Red Cross camp was a great success.

We have gained many friends and memories

that we will all treasure forever.

We would like to thank Bluestar, ChemChi-

na, Mr Ren, Mr Lu, Ms Li the coaches, the

translators, hotel staff, drivers and everyone

that have made this camp such an enjoyable

and fulfilling experience so far.
