Welcome to the sixth event. You will notice the name has changed to Cheltenham Art Festival & Open Studios, as it is felt that this will reflect its nature more accurately and aligns it with the other festivals that take place in Cheltenham. For this event we truly have more artists from a wider geographical and social range than ever before, including a growing group of rural artists.
This Festival enables both artists and the public to visit the studios, workrooms and exhibition spaces of artists working in a wide range of media, as the index and the individual pages of this guide shows. We have continued the KdzArt workshops for children and the Artists in Action events. These will happen at Cheltenham’s Art Gallery & Museum along with a Sampler Exhibition in the front window. We are extremely grateful for their generous and continued support. There is another Sampler Exhibition at the Everyman for 6 weeks as well as an exhibition at the Star Gallery, Cheltenham General Hospital. New this year, there will be a drop-in session for adults who wish to explore some painting techniques and two talks, both at St Lukes Church.
We hope that you will enjoy visiting the venues and although you are welcome to purchase any of the items for sale, there is absolutely no pressure for you to buy anything. If, however, you would like to pick up a real ‘art bargain’, we are repeating the sale of Small Art: each piece is 5 inches square and can be bought for £5 at St Lukes Church during CAFOS 2009.
Thank you for your support and if you are interested in participating in the next event, joining the Steering Group or being informed of future events, please visit our website www.cheltenhamopenstudios.org.uk or email us at [email protected]
