Checking your messages and Sending a Message in ParentLink • After logging in, you should find yourself at “Home” • You can click on “Inbox” to check your messages. This works like most any e-mail system.

Sending a Message in ParentLink

• To send a message, go to either the Home Page and click on “send a message”, or go to the tab; “Message” and then “send”

• Either way, this is where and when you’ll write your message.

• NOTICE that you will need to both write a message AND record a message. • You WILL need to record a message before you can select who it will go to. Follow the

insturctions for recording . � The written message can have more detail if you wish. � Remember that not all parents receive e-mail

• Once your message has been recorded AND you have triple-reviewed your written message for typos, information, etc., then you are ready to press “Next – Select Recipients”, at the bottom of the page.

• You’ll not that from here you can use pre-determined groups. For this example, let’s send to the parents of a specific class, by selecting “My Classes”.

• Drilling down, I selected “Parents” from my 4th period class. After selecting it, it shows up in the “Selected Recipiants” list.

• Had I wanted to, I could have also drilled down further to send the message to only specific parents of students in that class:

• After being sure that all the recipients that I’d like to send to are in the “Selected Recipient” list, I would then press “Next – Summary”. The sample below tells me a lot of what I have set up to send out.

• The default setting is to send the message “immediately”. By clicking there, I can change WHEN it is sent out (see next page).

• After having click the Delivery Time (previously “immediately”) in the summary for the message, I can now change WHEN the message is delivered.

• This means, of course, that you can prepare messages hours, days, even weeks in advance. • If you know an important message has to go out on a specific day, you can write it in advance.

Once the summary reads correctly; you can then you can click “Finished – Send my Message”.
