Hi All, I recently sent out an email asking you to verify your birthday and anniversary and to let me know if you want them acknowledged in the newsletter. I only received about a dozen responses. Thanks to those of you who took the time to send me the master
birthday and anniversary list. I will keep this for future reference. Going forward, only those of you who responded will have birthday/anniversary acknowledged in the newsletter. BOARD MEETING MINUTES
The President, Bob LaBerge, opened the meeting at 7:35 PM. Board Members Present: Bob LaBerge, George Cooper, Judy Wilson, Susan Saulvester, Liz Hallsworth, Casey Kilcullen-Steiner and Gail LaBerge As there were no corrections to the June Board meeting minutes, they were accepted as published. Treasurer Report: $38,169 in checking. Secretary Report: No mail received, change in officers has been sent to AKC. Membership Report: Judy Wilson presented proposals for change to the membership form. Discussion followed. Review of the code of ethics will be done. Susan Saulvester gave a report on the new lock for the entrance door to the LKC Building. The decision was made to install a lock that takes codes that can be changed and a limit of $250 was set to purchase and install the lock. A report was presented on the Cluster meeting held the previous week. Discussion on the Facebook page. Peggy Watson and Barbara Reichenbach will moderate and are getting it ready to be online. Barbara Reichenbach is working with Bob LaBerge on the LKC website. Gail LaBerge to secure a site for the Thursday, July 21, training meeting. Discussion was held on the invitation to tour the University of Georgia Veterinary School of Medicine Teaching Hospital. It was decided to ask the membership at the general meeting of LKC who would like to do the tour. Discussion on filling the Vice President vacancy, the President will contact the person discussed to see if they will serve.

GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
The President, Bob LaBerge, opened the meeting at 7:33 PM.
He asked the visitors to please introduce themselves.
Program: Member, Carol Ochs, who is a volunteer with Canine
Assistance Dogs, brought one of the dogs she is helping to
train. Carol discussed the process that Canine Assistance uses
to train the dogs for working as an assistance dog.
There were no corrections to the June General Meeting minutes
and they stand approved as published in the newsletter.
Membership: Membership Chair, Judy Wilson presented Jinnie
Patrick for a second reading. Jinni was voted into membership.
Jinnie has American Staffordshire and French Bulldogs.
Secretary Report: New Officers information has been submitted
to AKC.
Treasurer Report: $37,044 in the checking account.
Show Report: Ouida Blackwelder, Show Chair, reported that
the Cluster has agreed to raise the cost of a first entry by one
dollar to $27.00, and lower the cost of a puppy entry to $18.00.
These changes will take affect in February 2017.
LKC will have the Owner-Handled series on their day at both the
August and February shows.
Ouida gave a report on what assistance is needed for the
upcoming August show and asked for volunteers. If you wish to
volunteer, please contact Ouida immediately so she may plan
the schedule.
Facebook: The President announced that Peggy Watson and
Barbara Reichenbach are the moderators for the LKC Facebook
page.
Website: The President reported that he and Barbara
Reichenbach are working on the new website for LKC.
Training Report: The President reported that those interested in
assisting with LKC training classes have held two meetings.
The schedule and instructors for the Fall session are in place. A
Training Director is needed. Anyone interested in being the
Training Director should contact the President.
The President announced that the vacant Vice President
position would be filled by the Board at it’s August meeting.
Awards: Ruth Baranowski announced that she would be
accepting nominations for the AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship
Award in September. She also announced that if you have dogs
that meet the requirements for title plaques or bars, that she will
need those applications in September. The Awards dinner is
the regular scheduled meeting date in October. As this is a
dinner meeting, the restaurant will be announced later.
Susan Saulvester announced that LKC has an invitation to tour
the University of Georgia Veterinary School of Medicine in
Athens, GA. As there was great interest in doing the tour,
Susan will ask the School for dates in September when the Club
would be able to tour the facility. She will be asking for a week
day date and a weekend date (non football weekend). As Katie
Beth, recipient of the LKC Veterinary Scholarship Award for
2016, is a student ambassador, it is hoped she will be available
to conduct the tour.
Susan Saulvester reported that the committee to update the
LKC membership application is also reviewing the code of
ethics, and asked if anyone had a code of ethics of another club
to please share that with Judy Wilson, Membership Chairman.
As there was no further business, the President adjourned the
meeting at 8:55 PM.

Casey Kilcullen-Steiner’s brag:
Kenny the whippet went Select Dog at the Hilton Head
Kennel Club Show Saturday (was only entered
Saturday). Actually went to Hilton Head to pick up the
female whippet that was breed for me to be bred to Kenny
when she is old enough. She is soooo tiny at only 7
weeks old. She joins the 4 month old, 70+ lbs. Irish
Wolfhound puppies.
Barbara Reichenbach’s bragg:
Int Ch. Goldhavens A Streetcar Named Desire CGC,
CGCA, CCA, TD, RN. (AKA Stella) got her International
title at the IABCA dog show in Marietta
Lynda Mckee’s brag:
Pembroke Welsh Corgi Tifflyn As Luck Would Have It CD
BN PCD TD PT RA AXJ OF finished her Agility Excellent
(AX) title with a first place at the Nashville DTC trials in
mid-July. That also completes the requirements for a
Versatile Corgi (VC) award from our parent club for Bizzy,
the 8th such award for my dogs.
