What a Night! The Barnyard Auction was truly amazing and a successful EWI event! If you did not attend, you missed seeing the girls in action! Kathy and Kerry, thank you again for all of your hard work! To each and every gonger, runner, attendee, thank you, we could not have been successful without you! Kelly and Scott, you are the best DJ’s! Thank you for every number you spoke and the smiles that you gave to everyone! Thanks to everyone who kept trying even when they did not win the cherished item. Thank you all! As we approach the time to renew our membership with EWI, I thought about how important our members are to our organization. With our seasoned members we have experience but our new members present us with opportunities to teach, train and trust everyone to grow within our organization. Without new members and our experienced seasoned members, we would not be complete. Each firm is the lifeline to EWI and the representative is the future that bonds us together. My hearts theme for this year in EWI is to awaken the Lioness. We are all needed to make this organization valuable for our firm, for ourselves, and for our community. So please, prepare for the renewing of EWI and let us all grow together. The Thanksgiving season is quickly approaching and our Philanthropy Committee is working diligently to prepare for the “Share the Warmth Holiday Tree”. We as caring members of society realize that a scarf, a pair of gloves/mittens, or a hat can mean so much to someone that is in need. It is difficult to imagine not having access to the warmth of our homes, warmth of a friendship, or warmth of a group such as your- selves. Thank you from my heart for every member of our EWI family. What a Night! The Barnyard Auction was truly amazing

and a successful EWI event! If you did not attend, you

missed seeing the girls in action! Kathy and Kerry,

thank you again for all of your hard work! To each and

As we approach the time to renew our membership with EWI, I thought about how

important our members are to our organization. With our seasoned members we have

experience but our new members present us with opportunities to teach, train and trust

everyone to grow within our organization. Without new members and our experienced

representative is the future that bonds us together. My hearts theme for this year in

EWI is to awaken the Lioness. We are all needed to make this organization valuable

for our firm, for ourselves, and for our community. So please, prepare for the renewing

of EWI and let us all grow together.

The Thanksgiving season is quickly approaching and our Philanthropy Committee is

working diligently to prepare for the “Share the Warmth Holiday Tree”. We as

caring members of society realize that a scarf, a pair of gloves/mittens, or a hat can

November Meeting

Date: Tuesday, November 9, 2010 5:30 pm—Meet, Greet and Networking 6:00 pm—Dinner

Where: Doubletree Hotel 407 Chestnut Street

Parking: Free Parking in the open lot beside the hotel or $5.00 Valet Parking

Speaker: Kasey Trenum and Kelly Thompson founders of Time 2 $ave

Topic: “Save More by Spending Less”

Time 2 $ave was started by Kasey Trenum and Kelly Thompson. Two stay at home moms,

Kasey and Kelly started couponing out of financial necessity. After much research they be-

gan to see that they could make a difference by keeping more of their money through sav-

ings on the grocery bill, and they began to dig a little deeper. Currently, they save around

75% on weekly purchases from what they used to spend.

They had such an overwhelming response from fellow shoppers and store employees, they

began by teaching their first couponing class and were shocked when over 200 attended.

“We spent time in prayer about what the next move should be and finally felt it was time to

step out on faith…thus Time 2 $ave was born. Were we ready for what lay ahead? Only by

the Lord leading us and directing us have we been able to move forward. He has opened

many doors that were impossible to us. We have found favor and been humbled all at the

same time. It is so exciting to hear the story of a first time coupon user who has saved

twenty or thirty dollars on their grocery bill. We rejoice with them and feel our family has

expanded. There continues to be many benefits that we did not anticipate, but are honored

to be chosen to bring a message of hope…“for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14).”You can

learn more about Time 2 $ave by visiting www.time2saveworkshops.com

The Monster Goes to School

By Jennicia Williams

Room 108 – Ms. Deborah McGill, Teacher

Once upon a time I saw a monster in my closet. I ran down the stairs to my Mom. My

Mom walked back up the stairs. My Mom said, “Where is it in the closet?” My Mom

said, it isn’t a monster, it is your dolly. When my mommy went out the door, the monster

said, “Ha, Ha, Jennicia, I am going to school with you.” I said, “No you’re not because

my teacher will throw you out the window”. And the monster said, “I don’t want anyone

to be mean to me.” I picked up my magic wand and I changed the monster into a boy

named Robert.

When I walked into class, Robert was sitting in a seat.

Robert was happy to see me. I was happy to see

Robert. At the end of the day school was over, Robert

came to my house and talked to me. Robert and his

family moved into the neighborhood the next day.

Robert became my friend and we went to school each

day. At the end of second grade, Robert and his family

moved to Florida. When Robert moved, we all missed

him. Just think about a monster that turned into a boy.

When I woke up, I asked my Mom, did a monster turn

into a boy? My Mom said, “Jennicia, maybe you were

just dreaming.” I had a fun dream that the monster

turned out to be a good friend.

The end.

Reading Rally In Kansas City.

Melissa’s Organizing Tips for November

Many people look forward to the change in seasons and the crisper, cooler

days of fall. Changes in business are inevitable, just like the seasons, but

they are occurring at a fast rate. It is important to manage these changes ef-

fectively, or your business could suffer.

HOW CAN I MANAGE CHANGE EFFECTIVELY?

Commit to it – whether or not the change was your idea

Visualize the end results of the change (focusing on the good parts)

Plan time in your calendar to implement the change, make note of deadlines as appropriate

Take a trusted co-worker or colleague to lunch and be open to their suggestions and feed-

back on your change management approach

Allow for and accept setbacks, but…

Keep on keeping on, even in the face of obstacles

What changes are you planning to make?

Membership Committee Report

By: Carrie Harlin

As we get closer to Thanksgiving it re-

minds me of how thankful I am to be a

part of EWI and this wonderful group of

ladies that I call friends. Some of you I know personally

and there are several of you I still only know faces. Ei-

ther way, I am thankful for all of you!

The board has set obtainable goals to recruit and retain

our membership this year. If we all work together we can

obtain and exceed our goals. We would like to retain, at a

minimum, 90% and recruit 11 new firms. Can we do

this? Absolutely! Since I have been in this role of mem-

bership director I have seen 7 new potential firms come

through already. Let’s use that ChattanoogaCanDo spirit

and recruit!

How to recruit new members: before speaking to the po-

tential new member, email me first. char-

[email protected]. We need to make sure the potential

firm is not in competition with any of our current member

firms. Once the board has approved, then we send it out

to our entire membership for their approval. Note- objec-

tions must come from the executive of the firm, not just

the member. After all approval has been made, the lead

who submitted the name will be contacted to invite the

potential member to a meeting. Please feel free to contact

me if you have any questions or need help. We have a

running list of industries or classifications that are still

available for recruitment.

River City Consulting, dba Judgment Index, has benefited

many organizations worldwide, in areas such as diverse as re-

cruitment, sales, and safety and risk management. Great bene-

fits and bottom line dollars have been gained by organizations

involved in manufacturing, health care systems, insurance, con-

struction, government, military, education, ministry, security,

banking, and food service. Their USA headquarters is located at 6105 Preserva-

tion Drive, Chattanooga, TN.

The Judgment Index is an assessment of a person’s capacity for Good Judgment.

It is not an IQ test, and it is not a personality profile. It is totally unique and one

of the most highly mathematical, scientific and logically-based assessment instru-

ments ever created. It empowers you to measure the value system and the judg-

ment capacity and capability of an individual – and does so with unswerving ac-

curacy. The company has consultants throughout the U.S. and UK.

Joyce has been with the firm for almost 11 years. Her title is Office Manager

“which means if it needs to be done-do it!” She has two wonderful son’s, Tim

and Jeff Owings and two beautiful granddaughters. In her spare time, Joyce en-

joys painting, reading, hiking, and playing with her grandchildren. She moved to

Chattanooga with her husband, Sam, 15 years ago. They have both enjoyed it

here so much they never want to leave!

When asked why she joined EWI, Joyce’s response was “I met Carolyn Stringer!

That probably says it all. She has such a love for EWI that it is contagious!”
