Château Montagne Launches Monthly Newsletter!
It’s August again, the hottest month of the year in
Lebanon. With temperatures reaching up to 39
degrees Celsius, panicked brides are worried
about how to keep cool in their precious wedding
gowns. Coincidentally, here in Château Montagne,
we can escape the heat from the city and enjoy
the fresh mountain breeze. With the scorching
heat that couples know they will experience in
Lebanon’s summers, couples prefer to opt for
outdoor weddings in the mountains.
A friend of mine once told me that it was her
dream to get married in beautiful castle that had
character. I asked her, “What is character”? And
she told me, “A place that has character is a place
with a story; a history”.
Today, I thought about what she said to me about
character. Character is who we really are. It is the
collection of our thoughts, our values, our words
and our actions. Perhaps it is fair to say that this
collection is the result of our history. But most of
all, character is who we are when we think that no
one is looking.
Looking at Château Montagne, standing tall and
proud on the hilltop, I can remember the first time
my sister and I laid our eyes on her. We were
living abroad because of the war in Lebanon, and
had only heard stories about her from our parents
and grandparents. We were only little girls, but
she captured our hearts immediately. Before the
car reached to a stop, we were leaping out of the
car, running across the gardens, exploring every
nook and crook.
But our grandfather didn’t want us to be taken
aback by her beauty alone. That day, he sat us
down and told us the history of Château
Montagne. Château Montagne was created by the
love my grandfather felt for our grandmother. He
promised her that he would one day build her a
dream home, where they would have lots of
children running around and then lots of
grandchildren to spend their old days with. And he
fulfilled that dream. Château Montagne has seen
happy times; heard the sounds of our laughter
and smelt the brews of my grandmother’s
cooking. But Château Montagne has also felt the
sadness and the tears in moments of sadness felt
by the family and even by the country. Château
Montagne has now lived through three
generations with the Atallah family. Protected by
the cedars of her gardens she overlooks Aindarah,
as a grandmother would in the nest she once
created for her family.
I think that marriage is the most beautiful creation
of mankind. The relationship that blossoms in a
marriage contributes to each partner and family’s
character. Château Montagne invites you to take

character.

Château Montagne will take questions from our

Dear Sarah,
Although you may feel that you are alone in this
dilemma, you are not! This problem is so common
for soon-to-be brides that it is sad. Because you
love your fiancé so much, you expect him to be
thrilled about wedding plans, you expect him to
want to share every decision making plan with you,
but alas that is not the case. I am sure you are
feeling like all was perfect before he asked you to
marry him but now that you commenced your
plans; you feel like he has changed.
Sometimes as women, we like to over-dramatize
things, analyze every single word; you are probably
thinking that he does not love you anymore
because he is not interested. But, keep in mind
that men have a different mode of thought
regarding marriage. While we women dream of our
wedding day praying every little detail is perfect,
magical & romantic, men pray that their lives after
their wedding day is perfect! Let us give them
some credit, they do love you, they did ask for your
hand & thus would not have asked if they were not
sure, just try to be patient & do realize that he is
concerned about budget-spending so that he can
buy you your dream house!
Instead of worrying, try to enjoy every minute of
your planning. Try calmly to explain to your fiancé
what his support means to you but if you still find
him un-interested, just plan it instead with the help
of your mother, sister, best friend- all who you will
cherish much more especially after your marriage!

Wedding Fiascos!
With brides jittery about
their up-coming weddings,
perhaps this article was
not the best idea however
at the same time, it will
teach all brides to expect the un-expected & take it
all in a calm stride. Instead of panicking and
freaking out over every little incident, one needs to
take a deep breath and not allow anything to
destroy your day!
Château Montagne has gathered a collection of
funny, strange and crazy fiascos that brides have
confessed!
Jowana: “I crack up every time I remember my
mother’s recount of her wedding day. She told us
that during her wedding, she was so nervous; she
wanted to run to the ladies but knowing the
elaborate Lebanese weddings that give the bride
no peace on her wedding day, she was not given
the time to even use the ladies! The time came for
the couple’s first dance. As the onlookers dabbed
their eyes at the thought of the young couple
about to embark on the journey of love and life,
little did they know of the conversation shared
between the bride and groom. All Jowana’s mum
could talk about was her need for the ladies.
Amongst the onlookers was the videographer, who
caught Jowana’s mum saying ‘I need to use the
toilet’ to her new husband! Fancy ending to a first
dance caught on tape”! Lesson to learn from this?
Perhaps you don’t want to capture all memories of
the first day; dubbing embarrassing situations with
romantic music, may just do the trick!

Lana: I started my wedding day by putting on my wedding dress that I- like many other brides- had tried on several times before the day.
To my horror, as I slipped into the soft fabric of the dress I loved so much, I heard an excruciating sound that no bride wants to hear; “ziiiiiiiiip”!!!!
I couldn’t see what happened, but I could imagine it! The entire zipper at the back of my beautiful dress had torn open! That was it! I freaked and couldn’t stop screaming. And I screamed even louder when my dad said “Calm down, don’t you have any other dress”? Yeah sure, I thought, all brides buy an extra wedding dress for reasons like this! My mum trying to calm me down got an idea to stitch the dress while it was on me- I couldn’t believe it would work. I was imagining horrible patches that I had on my jeans while growing up.
Somehow, someway, God seemed to be on my side that day after all, because miraculously, my mum did stitch it on & no one noticed a thing! Imagine that! Tip for future brides? Make sure you have your super mum or granny close by with ammunition (needles, threads, and scissors are necessities!).

Sara: Taking photographs on our wedding day prior
to the evening party, I noticed that I was missing 2
nails from each hand (I had done French manicure
with stick-ons)! Just imagine yourself going to your
wedding with all 4 fingers done and 1 missing on
each hand! Luckily, my younger brother came to
my rescue by finding them in the middle of my
bedroom. Getting super glue, he stuck them back
on & they looked brand new! (Girls- get some ideas
if you do lose a nail or two! ).

Château Montagne Married Couple!
Liliane and Mohammed Armali married in the spring of 2010. They contacted us to tell us about their wedding.
How did you meet?
It was a strange way to meet. While talking with my friend on the street, Mohammed passed by us in his car. Within days, he had found out where I lived and was asking for my hand in marriage.
Your wedding photos are very original. Who was your photographer?
Thank you. Studio
Banadar came up with the idea to have a photo shoot in Central
Beirut’s downtown
district.
Your dress was very pretty. Can you describe it?
I bought my dress in Syria from “Robe de Princesse”. It wasn’t white in particular. It was ivory in colour and very delicate because it the top of the dress was transparent and covered in beads. I felt like a princess in it.
Tell us about your wedding.
Our wedding was held in Sidon, because it was too cold in the spring to go to the mountains. We had around 250 guests- not too big, not too small. We had beautiful superb flower bouquets that decorated every dining table, the buffet and the walls. It was very elegant. The decoration was done by the florist ALI. We also had a traditional Lebanese Zaffé and fireworks that spiced up our entrance.
Did you have a seated dinner or a buffet?
The dinner was a buffet, open for everyone to choose whatever was to their liking. We had classical music during the dinner.
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
We went to Ehden Hotel; an hour and a half from the city of Beirut.
In one word, describe your wedding day.
A dream.
What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding day?
Enjoy it to the fullest, because this will be the best night in your life.
What about married life after the honeymoon? What advice do you have for newlyweds?
Marriage is a school that teaches us new lessons

Château Montagne Star Engaged Couple!
Sinar (22) and Mohammed (25) met 3 years ago after meeting and falling in love in Haigazian University. After being engaged for 1 year, they have decided that they are both ready for marriage. Sinar agreed to an exclusive interview with Château Montagne.
How did you and your Fiancé meet?
We met in university, when I was in my first semester. He on the other hand was in his last semester and also coaching my gym class.
Was it love at first sight? Or did time together seal the deal?
No. We immediately clicked and became friends, but it was only after a while that our friendship evolved into something more serious and beautiful.
How did the proposal happen?
All I can remember is my happy surprise when he popped the question. I kept thinking “why me”? But I couldn’t convince him otherwise, as he was pretty sure of what - who- he wanted: me! So, why not me?
What made you say yes?
What made me say yes is that he was exactly what I had been looking for in a guy. Most importantly, I felt and will always feel that he is my hero.
How do you know who is "the one"?
I don’t really know how to answer this question. Personally, it was important that we both had the same way of thinking and interests. I sometimes feel as though I am talking to myself, because we are slowly melting into each other’s thoughts and ways.
What would you say are the 3 most important factors of a successful relationship?
True love can make us destroy all obstacles. Mutual understanding and compromise are also necessary.

Château Montagne is a castle located in the 10 acres of gardens. Château Montagne can be rented for all kinds of events such as weddings, engagements, anniversaries, birthday parties, private dinner parties, university/school proms,
university dinner functions, embassy galas events, fashion shows, conferences, group tour luncheons, concerts... Basically, we rent the venue for all kinds of events; you name it, we’ve got it!
Describe Château Montagne; what makes it so special?
Château Montagne is one of the rare castle venues used for events. If you want a truly romantic and magical setting- a far cry from industrial weddings- opt for romance and magic in a castle! Imagine yourself dancing the night away spending the most memorable, glorious day in the most beautiful castle imagined. Set on 10 acres of land, spread out into several beautiful unique gardens, the landscape comprises more than 1000 cedar and pine trees, as well as carpets of flowers in all colours.
What services does the Château offer to its clients?
Package 1: Rental of venue only. All other details such as event planning, catering, or any other services are chosen by you. Promotional offer available for bookings made before October 2010: $10/Person (including rental of venue + valet parking + salon for bride and groom).

This is a difficult question asked by all couples on a budget. As we are not wedding planners, we cannot give you a full wedding quote. In our experience, we can tell you that the costs of weddings

Where is Château Montagne?
Château Montagne is nestled
within the protective arms of the
mountains of Aindarah that soar 1300 metres high
up into the skies. Part of the Aley district, 40
minutes east of Beirut, Château Montagne is
situated in the cozy countryside village of Aindarah.
Aindarah, translated into English as “Spring of the
House”, situated between two districts- Aley and
the Chouf. As the doorway to the Chouf, Aindarah
