King  County  Metro,  WA   Reduced  Fare  

The  Human  Services  Reduced  Fare  Bus  Ticket  Program  approves  eligible  non-­‐profit  agencies  to  purchase  up  to  an  authorized  amount  of  bus  tickets.    The  agency  pays  20%  of  the  value  of  the  tickets,  with  King  County  Metro  Transit  Division  covering  the  remaining  80%  of  the  value  of  the  tickets.  

Regional  Reduced  Fare  Permit/HS  Reduced  Fare  Bus  Ticket  Program  

The  Regional  Reduced  Fare  Permit  entitles  senior  riders  (age  65  or  older),  riders  with  a  disability  and  Medicare  card  holders  to  reduced  fares  on  public  transportation  systems  in  the  Puget  Sound  region.    The  Reduced  Bus  Ticket  Program  serves  homeless  or  low-­‐income  individuals  who  meet  HUD  income  guidelines  for  the  county.      

   

Permit  costs  $3.    Allows  for  reduced  fare  when  riding  Community  Transit,  Everett  Pierce,  Intercity,  Jefferson,  Skagit,  Kitsap,  Sound,  Mason  Transit,  WA  state  ferries,  water  taxi  and  S.  Lake  Union  Streetcar.

Salt  Lake  City,  UT  

UTA  offers  three  discount  programs,  Eco  Pass,  Co-­‐op  Pass  and  Ed-­‐Pass.  UTA  also  has  a  downtown  fare  free  zone.    UT  State  Horizon  card  allows  adults  (18-­‐64)  to  purchase  monthly  fare  cards  at  a  discount  of  about  16%.  Cards  are  issued  by  human  service  agencies  and  individuals  must  meet  income  requirements  to  qualify.  Seniors  over  65  pay  half  fare.    

Human  service  agencies      

Eco  Pass  is  a  company-­‐sponsored  annual  transit  pass  employees  can  use  to  ride  TRAX  or  the  bus  to  commute  to  work  and  also  for  personal  transportation.  Sponsoring  companies  must  employ  at  least  35  persons  and  passes  must  be  purchased  for  all  employees  at  the  work  location.    The  co-­‐op  pass  is  a  company  sponsored  reduced  fare  pass  that  offers  employees  a  50%  discount  on  travel.  Ed  Pass  offers  discounted  fares  to  participating  school  faculty,  staff  and  students.      

   

Seniors,  Medicare  card  holders  and  persons  with  disabilities  pre-­‐qualified  by  UTA.  Full  or  part-­‐time  students  may  purchase  reduced  monthly  fare  card  and  must  carry  ID  when  traveling.    Low-­‐wage  workers  must  obtain  a  Horizon  card,  distributed  through  the  Dept.  of  Workforce  Services.  All  passes  good  for  unlimited  monthly  travel.
