•Jencks' massive success as a writer and a historian comes not only from his brilliant mind, but also, his accessible writing style, which is a testament to his long-standing credo of pluralism.•His landscape work is inspired by fractals, genetics, chaos theory, waves and solutions. •In Edinburgh, Scotland, he designed the Landform at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. These themes are expanded in his own private garden, the Garden of Cosmic Speculation, ar Portrack House near Dumfries. •He is also a furniture designer and sculptor, completing the DNA Sculpture in London's Kew Gardens in 2003.

The oval spirals - one of them a building, two of them landscaped mounds - together form the latest "Maggie's Centre", one of a burgeoning chain of support centres for people affected by cancer. The idea for these friendly, useful, non-clinical places came from the eponymous Maggie Keswick, Jencks' wife, as she herself was fighting cancer in the 1990s.

DECREPTIONS OF HIS WORKEmbarcadero Center

The Embarcadero Center is a commercial complex of six towers (four office, two Hyatt hotels) and one office tower on a 9.8 acre (39,655 square meters) site that is located in the San Francisco's financial district close to the Embarcadero. The first office tower- One Embarcadero Center of this commercial complex was completed in 1971 and the last, an off-complex extension,- Embarcadero West, was completed in 1989. The complex contains over 4.8 million square feet (445,900 square meters) of office space employing 14,000 people.

Marriott Marquis The Marriott Marquis is a 3-star Marriott Hotel and the 11th tallest skyscraper in Atlanta, Georgia

Marriott Marquis is its large atrium. It was the largest in the world upon its completion in 1985, at 470 feet (143 m) high. The atrium spans the entire height of the building and consists of two vertical chambers divided by elevator shafts and bridges. The record was later shattered by the Burj Al-Arab in Dubai.

Shanghai World Financial CenterThe Shanghai World Financial Center is a super tall skyscraper that has been intermittently under construction in Shanghai, China. It is a mixed use skyscraper which will consist of office spaces, hotel rooms, conference rooms, observation decks and shops on the ground floors.The most distinctive feature in the design of the building is an aperture at the top. This aperture was originally meant to be a circular moon gate, but the intended design began facing protests from Chinese, including the mayor of Shanghai, who considered it too similar to the rising sun design of the Japanese flag

SunTrust PlazaSunTrust Plaza (originally known as One Peachtree Center) is a skyscraper in downtown Atlanta. It is 871 feet (265 m) tall and has 60 stories of office space. Construction was finished in 1992 and it is currently the second-tallest building in Atlanta.

The two-level lobby is filled with many works of art, and sculpture and furniture designed by John Portman.

The first phase constructed a five-building rosette, with a 73-story hotel surrounded by four 39-story office towers. Portman designed the complex to have "interior spaces." This first phase officially opened in March 1977.

Portman's design revolutionized city architecture, constructing the world's tallest skyscraper hotel at the time with the world's largest rooftop restaurant. Two additional 21-story office towers opened in 1981. This type of complex has been termed a 'city within a city' or a 'pseudo city'.

Bofills Båge, is a residential building on Södermalm, Stockholm, at 59°18′51″N, 18°4′5″E. The structure also goes by the name of "Pa Soder Crescent." The building was designed by the Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill and constructed between 1991 and 1992.

The building complex is formed by the crescent-shaped building with a diameter of 180 meters, along with a total of five smaller apartment buildings. The complex contains about 300 apartments, shops, offices and underground parking space. It forms part of a large urban redevelopment where the old southern railyard was converted into city blocks mainly with housing developments. The Crescent is flanked by Söder Torn, a residential highrise building designed by Henning Larsen
