The Stable Family Home
Trust were honoured to be
chosen for a very special
visit by HRH The Countess
of Wessex. Her Royal High-
ness visited The Stables on
Wednesday 28th January
and was greeted with
cheers and applause
from service users,
staff, volunteers and
Trustees.
On arrival, Her Royal
Highness met Chris-
tine Atkinson, the wife
of the Lord Lieutenant
of Hampshire, civic
dignitaries, Hallam
and Lal Mills and CEO
of the SFHT, Jan Mills.
Although it was rain-
ing as Her Royal
Highness toured our
garden she stopped to talk
to service users, staff and
volunteers working there
and took a great interest in
all that she saw. HRH then
visited our Dance & Drama
Studio for a medley of
songs by our service users
from their ‘Love in the War’
production and again she
spent time meeting service
users and staff after the
performance.
She met staff and service
users working in Pottery
and Woodwork and enjoyed
a special demonstration of
Makaton sign language by
our service users before
visiting the Stables Flat.
Whilst there she met the
Home Managers, Domicili-
ary Care Manager and two
residents of the Stables Flat.
Later Her Royal Highness
returned to the Dance &
Drama Studio to
meet other service
users, staff, volunteers
and Trustees. She
also unveiled a
plaque and signed
our Visitors Book
before departing after
a visit lasting almost
two hours.
What a wonderful day
we had and one to
remember for many
years to come.

March 2015
RURAL CRIME IN THE COURTS Two 16 year olds have recently
appeared in court and found
guilty of daytime trespass in
pursuit of game (poaching) and
criminal damage on the Bis-
terne Estate.
They were using dogs on pri-
vate fields on the Estate but
were caught by the Head Game
Keeper. They were escorted off
the land but it was later discov-
ered that pheasant pens had
been damaged and game killed
so they were reported to the
police.
A visit to the police
station and an identity
parade identified the
individuals and they were later
arrested.
They appeared at Southampton
Magistrates’ Court on January
19 and given a 12 month condi-
tional discharge, forced to com-
ply with the Youth Offending
Team and pay compensation
plus court costs.
More and more rural crimes are
taking place in our area. Sheds
being broken into, tools stolen
and people trespassing on pri-
vate property and causing crim-
inal damage. Therefore, it is
really important that we keep
an eye on things and report any
suspicious activities to the
police on the crimeline 101.
The more reports that are made
in this area the more the police
will increase their patrols. We
can not let these criminals get
away with the illegal activities
they are getting up to.
Many thanks to Thomas London Day
Schools for sponsoring the Newsletter.

We cover the BH24 postcode area and assist those people who find it difficult to use public transport or are not eligible to receive hospital transport.
Also needed are coordinators who are responsible for assigning jobs during the week allotted to them and pre-booking jobs for the following week; they will be provided with a laptop to use for their allotted week.
The Ringwood and District Good Neigh-bours are looking for volunteer drivers.
Can you, or anyone you know, help driving people to medical appointments?
Volunteer drivers are reimbursed their mileage costs and do not have to com-mit to any particular day of the week. If contacted by a coordinator to undertake a job, you are under no obligation to accept it, just do whatever is convenient to fit in with your own arrangements.

HORSES IN THE PARK
The British Driving Society are holding one of their summer drives at Bisterne on May 17th meeting in front of Bis-terne Manor in the morning. They set off at five minute intervals starting at 1 pm for a 12 mile drive around Bisterne.
The local group of Driving for the Disa-bled are coming to Bisterne tree times this year, the first is on May the 19th, again on the 30th June with a final drive on August the 25th. It is always a joy to see the happy faces on those less fortu-nate than ourselves when they have driven around the track in the woods.
All are welcome to come and see these events take place
THE HALL HAS BEEN PAINTED
At the beginning of February Ray Bull
and his friend painted the inside of the
Hall. Gone are the stains on the ceiling,
all bright and white making the Hall
lighter. The cream top part of the
walls were repainted and the lower part
where all marks were on the wall has
been cleaned off and painted a light
brown so that the marks from the
chairs will not show so much, All the
doors and frames had a fresh coat of
white gloss. The money from last years

Apologies for the absence of ‘wild
entertainment’ in our last two is-
sues – work overload !
I am sorry to say we had a sad
ending to our swallows nest in the
garage. On 6th June, the female
died having flown into the window,
the poor ‘widower’ stayed all
through the summer guarding over
the nest with 2 eggs in it, a couple
of times he had a visitor with him
during the day, but she !!! never
stayed overnight!!. We do hope he
comes back this year with a new
spouse.
4th June, the young wrens flew
from the hanging basket nest.
25th June, the first of our five Ele-
phant Hawk Moths emerged, and
by 5th July all five had successfully
hatched and been released back
into the garden.
I didn’t get time to do ‘baby bird
counts’ but it was a noisy time so I
guess it was much the same as
usual, but a lack of greenfinches
was obvious. We had a birds eye
view of sparrows building a nest in
the honeysuckle close to the house,
they had 2 broods from that nest.
The butterflies were wonderful
and we were still watching them
well into November on warmer
days.
Early August a Pine Hawk Moth
became a regular nightly visitor to
the honeysuckle, and we had a few
sightings of a Hummingbird Hawk
Moth.
3rd August 10.00pm, as I was
watching the Moths on the honey-
suckle, I was treated to a close up
view of a Barn Owl right above me.
14th September, I was watching
the swallows gathering on the
overhead wires and 16th Septem-
ber our one from the garage had
gone.
The ‘feeding station’ was
relatively quiet until into
January and then a lot
busier, as usual not all the
sunflowers are being eat-
en, they are being re-cycled and
are popping up in pots and tubs
around the garden.
January 25th 2015, My RSPB bird
count is shown in the table below. A mention must also go to an al-
most daily sighting of a Heron, in
the little paddock water ditch,
sometimes in our back drive by the
puddles, and even in the woods/
scrub at the front of our house.
I finish on a familiar note! Thanks
to Lyn who came along at the end
of the summer, bearing the gift of
a jar complete with a large cater-
pillar – Yes of course an Elephant
Hawk Moth, it has since been
joined by three more, so we are
back where I finished in our issue
48, I hope they are as successful as
those ones were.

DEADLINE FOR THE JUN E ISSUE
18TH MAY . ANY CONTRIBUTIONS TO:
The family arranged a 'home coming'
party which was held at the very place he
had his first game of darts many years
ago, The New Queen at Avon.
Approximately 250 people were there to
congratulate Scott and celebrate his win-
ning. After many many photos with all
his family and friends he managed to
move around the pub a little to see people
including his good friend Trina Gulliver
MBE who had come along to join in the
celebrations. Trina has won the Ladies
title 9 times before so a double wammy
having two World Champion's among the
party. What it must feel like to have that
many people in a pub just for you I guess
only Scott knows.
From the minute Scott won the game, his
diary suddenly became very full. The
media attention has been immense and
has included interviews with Meridian,
South Today, Radio Surrey, Radio Two,
Growing up with Scott as a Brother in
Law you often heard him singing a line
from his favourite Bros song 'When will I,
will I be famous?', little did we know that
years later we would be able to tell him
the answer - 11th January 2015.
This year was Scott's 6th year playing in
the Lakeside BDO World Champion-
ships, previously being knocked out of the
competition in the 1st and 2nd rounds.
Leading up to this years competition
Scott was concentrating on thinking
about his first game. Tony O'Shea being
3 times runner up at Lakeside in previ-
ous years makes him not an ideal first
round opponent. Probably the most diffi-
cult game of the 5 that he had to play, he
stormed through beating Tony 3-2. Once
through this round all thoughts were
about getting to the end of the week and
being in the Final and that's exactly
where he got. Scott said that before the
competition started he knew that the
World Championships was wider open
than it ever had been and there were lots
of players that could of won it.
The Final's night arrived on Sunday 11th
January and Scott was playing Martin
'Wolfie' Adams. Wolfie, having won the
competition and the World Champion
title 3 times before, Scott knew that he
had his work cut out. But he had the
right determination and skill to take the
winning leg and the title that will now
stay with him for ever 'Champion of the
World'. A match, a night, a day that
Scott nor any of his family will ever for-
get. All his dreams that he has ever
dreamt of all coming true in one game.
Radio Four and Talk Sport. An exciting
one was attending the Radio Solent stu-
dios to be connected to a sports radio
station in Los Angeles that broadcasts
over Hollywood. Scott is currently work-
ing with Country File who are coming to
film various parts of Scott's life, including
the farm, his Young Farmers history and
the delivery of his new tractor !! They
are also going to include the current
Young Farmers in part of their filming so
exciting times for them too. All this me-
dia fun and he still finds time to carry on
working and of course playing in many
other darts competitions.
Who knows what the rest of the year
looks like for Scott and how many times
he might claim the title again, but one
thing is for sure, he will never forget
playing in the final of the 2015 Lakeside
World Championships, he will never
forget winning and he will always be
Champion of the World 2015.
Results of his matches were.
First round v Tony O'Shea - 3-2
Second round v Geert de Vos - 4-2
Quarter final v Brian Dawson - 5-2
Semi final v Jeff Smith - 6-0
Final v Martin Adams - 7-6
