THE STORY:I'm riding for CI in the Holdstein 100 on August 16th, 2014. My goal is $3,000.Why $3,000? Because that's what it will take to give Maddie Fernandez the tools she needs to change the course of her life, through sponsorship with Children International.

Maddie is 9 years old and has been waiting for the benefits of sponsorship for ten months now. She lives in a two-room concrete house in a slum in Ecuador with her parents and two sisters. The family's income is about $100 per month.

What kind of difference can we make together? Maddie will be able to see a doctor. If she is malnourished, she will receive nutrition support. Her parents will receive help with her largest education expenses so she can stay in school. She'll see a dentist. She'll have access to so many programs like team sports and financial literacy training. When she gets older, there are leadership and employment training programs that can launch her into a career that will give her the opportunity to leave poverty behind...for good!

Why fundraise for Children International? They have comprehensive programs that not only allow kids to have nutrition support, medical care, and clothing, but empowering programs like financial literacy and job training that help kids dig themselves out of poverty.

In short - sponsorship can transform children from being needy and feeling helpless, to powerful community change agents who pay it forward, so whole communities are better off.

Hello Friends, Join us for an inspiring evening!

We will be viewing the X documentary - a global campaign for girls' education. If you haven't heard about the movie yet, definitely check out the trailer - super touching: Link Here.

This movement brings together visionaries: girls, women, boys and men who know that educating girls is the smartest investment of our time. It is a very respected, powerful film sharing nine unforgettable stories of girls living in the developing world and the power of education in their lives. Prize-winning authors put the girls’ remarkable stories into words, and renowned actors give them voice --> (Cate Blanchett, Priyanka Chopra, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys, Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington).

Since it was difficult to view in theaters, we decided to purchase the DVD in an effort to share it with friends, and friends of friends, interested in viewing it together. Additionally, X who works for Children International will be there to speak more about current international efforts, answer any questions we might have, and present volunteer opportunities for anyone interested in getting involved locally and/or sponsoring a child. More on CI: https://www.children.org/Who-We-Are What: X screening, treats, wine & engaging discussionWhen: Date & TimeWhere: Address

We will be providing snacks and wine, but feel free to bring anything else you wish to share with the group. If anybody else you think might enjoy the film & discussion, please forward the invite on. Also, we would love to have men attend and share their perspective! Please RSVP by X so we can plan accordingly.

Cheers, X

Hi X,

X is one of my favorite stores to shop and just the other day, after making a purchase, I was told that I could donate a token to one of three charities. I think it’s a fantastic idea! I volunteer for a non-profit, Children International. We would love to become one of the featured organizations that receive donations for our programs via your business’s charity campaign.

What sort of information should I provide and what is the application process like?

Here is some more information about Children International:

Purpose of OrganizationOur sponsorship program improves the lives of poor children by providing basic necessities, benefits and services and programs that support long-term development and opportunities that prepare them for success. As children grow, our support changes with them to enhance their progress toward becoming capable, contributing members of their communities.

Our approach is comprehensive and we accomplish our goals by focusing on the following areas: Health, Education, Nutrition, Youth Programs, Skill Building, Family Assistance and Community Support.

We also have just launched our Local Chapter and are developing a project to connect local youth with youth from our11 countries. Together, youth can leverage their skill sets to design and implement meaningful community impact projects.

Thank you so much for your consideration. I hope we can partner together!

Sincerely, X
