The Second Coming: Getting it Right 1

Chapter Ten

Clearing up the End Time Difficulties in Matthew 24 and Mark 13

The Tribulation-70th Week-12th Day of the Lord as revealed in

Matthew 24 and Mark 13

Before we begin, remember these three things:

1. The Seven Year Tribulation is divided into two parts. The First 3 ½ years is

known as the Tribulation and the Second 3 ½ years is known as the Great

Tribulation.

2. The First Seven Years of the 12th

Day of the Lord is also divided into two

parts. The First 3 ½ years is simply known as the First 3 ½ years of the 12th

Day of the Lord. The Second 3 ½ years is known as the Great and/or Terrible

Aspect-Section of the 12th

Day of the Lord.

3. The Wrath of the Lamb in Revelation 6 is also divided into two parts. The

First 3 ½ years is known as the Wrath of the Lamb. The Second 3 ½ years is

known as the Great Day of His Wrath. (Chapter Four had three different

names for the same event. Here we introduce the fourth name for the same

event described in Chapter Four, the wrath of the Lamb-great day of his

wrath.

Remember also these Three Bedrock Doctrines

1. The Abrahamic covenant

2. The Twelve Days of the Lord

3. The complete identity of the Abrahamic Seed Group

The Background of Matthew 24

Jesus tells them the stones in the Temple will be thrown down in such a way that no stone

will be upon another stone. This destruction of the Temple prophesied by Jesus was

fulfilled in 70 A.D by Titus.

Matt 24:1-2

1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came

to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto

you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown

down. (KJV)

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 2

The Three Questions they asked Jesus

Based on Jesus' statement above, they asked him three questions about it. As we have

pointed out at length, they were confused about the chronology of these events.

Obviously, they equated the destruction of the Temple in 70 A.D. with Jesus' Second

Coming and the End of the World.

Matt 24: 3

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him

privately, saying, Tell us:

(1) when shall these things be?

(2) and what shall be the sign of thy coming,

(3) and what shall be the sign of the end of the world? (KJV)

Jesus answered the first question in Luke 21. He answered the last

two questions both here in Matthew 24 and in Mark 13.

To clear up their mistake of equating the time of the Temple destruction (fulfilled in 70

A.D.) with the Second Coming and the End of the World, Jesus only answers the last two

questions here. These last two questions, of course, only pertain to the Second Coming

and the End of the World.

(2) What shall be the sign of thy coming?

(3) What shall be the sign of the end of the world?

Next, you must note well The Four Phrases and their Four Prophetic Timing Words

following. They are the bedrock of what we say from now, to the end of this work.

Learn them!

Here are The Four Phrases and the Four Prophetic Timing Words:

1. Before the great and terrible Day of the Lord (Second 3 1/2

Years) in Joel 2: 30-31

and in Acts 2: 16-20

2. Immediately after the tribulation (First 3 1/2

Years) in Matthew 24: 29

3. After the tribulation (First 3 1/2

Years) in Mark 13: 24

4. Great day of his wrath (Second 3 1/2

Years) is just now beginning in Rev 6: 17

Here are just the Four Prophetic Timing Words:

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 3

1. Before

2. Immediately after

3. After

4. Just now beginning

Watch for these words and their Scriptures as we progress. We have much to say about

them.

Before we go into Matthew 24, we must refresh your memory about the Two Events that

occur simultaneously to start the Second 3 ½ Years of the Tribulation-70th

Week-the 12th

Day of the Lord-Great Day of His Wrath in the Revelation. See Chapter Four in No Thief

Gives Warning Signs,

Here are these two Simultaneous Events

1. The Abomination of Desolation

2. The Beginning of the Cosmic Upheavals

Much trouble comes when we do not view these two events as simultaneous. When we

fail to do so, we subconsciously view them in chronological order because that's how

they appear on the page; namely, one above the other. Therefore, we view them as one

occurring before the other. This is absolutely not the case. These two things occur at the

same identical time.

How do we know this? Because Joel said before, Peter said before, Luke quoted Peter’s

before, Mark said after, Matthew said immediately after and John said just now

beginning. Remember! These are Four Prophetic Timing Words. They determine the

exact center point between the First 3 1/2 Years and the Second 3 1/2 Years of the Seven

Year Tribulation. These Four Prophetic Timing Words are the concrete in which the

center point is set.

For now, simply remember that these two events/things are simultaneous with each other.

In this introduction, I will reverse Matthew’s order of these Two Events here. Later, I will

reverse them back into Matthew’s original order. I am doing this for ease of

understanding.

Now I will begin with the Second Event that starts the Second 3 ½ years of the

Tribulation-70th

week-12th

Day of the lord-Great Day of His Wrath.

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 4

The beginning of the Cosmic Upheavals is the Second Simultaneous

Event that starts the Second 3 ½ Years

Look again at the Four Prophetic Timing Words.

Matthew declares that the Cosmic Upheavals begin immediately after the First 3 ½ Years

of the Tribulation has ended. Note the word immediately here.

Matt 24:29

29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days (First 3 1/2

Years) shall the

sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall

from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: (KJV)

Mark said the Cosmic Upheavals begin after the tribulation.

Mark 13:24

24. But in those days, after that tribulation (First 3 1/2

Years), the sun shall be

darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,

25. And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall

be shaken.

In The Expositor’s Greek Testament, Dr. A. B. Bruce says that Mark’s after is a “vaguer

phrase.” Compare Mark’s after with Matthew’s immediately after.

Now remember that Joel told us that the Cosmic Upheavals would begin before the Great

and Terrible Aspect-Section (Second 3 ½ Years) of the 12th

Day of the Lord. Note the

word before here.

Joel 2:30-31

30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire,

and pillars of smoke.

31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the

great and the terrible day of the LORD come. (KJV)

Peter preaches Joel’s prophecy almost word for word and Luke quotes it. Consequently,

he also places the beginning of the Cosmic Upheavals before the great and notable

Aspect-Section (Second 3 ½ Years) of the 12th

Day of the Lord.

Acts 2:16-20

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath;

blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 5

20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that

great and notable day of the Lord come: (KJV)

We have just seen that both Joel and Peter, quoted by Luke, place the beginning of the

Cosmic Upheavals before the Great and Terrible-Notable Aspect-Section (Second 3 ½

Years) of the 12th

Day of the Lord.

The question we must answer now is this: “How much before?”

We know from Matthew 24: 29 above, that the Cosmic Upheavals start immediately after

the First 3 ½ Years of the Tribulation, but how much before the beginning of the Second

3 ½ Years do they start? Fortunately for us, God revealed this to John and he recorded it

for us in Revelation 6: 12-17.

Notice carefully here that Revelation 6: 12-17 is an embellishment of both Joel and Peter.

This passage occurs immediately after the First 3 ½ years. At the same time, it occurs

before the Second 3 ½ years (the great and terrible Aspect-Section of the 12th

Day of the

Lord). As such, these Cosmic Upheavals in Revelation 6 are sandwiched in tightly

between the First 3 ½ Years and the Second 3 ½ Years of the 12th

Day of the Lord etc.

As a matter of fact, these Cosmic Upheavals in Revelation 6 begin the Second 3 ½ Years.

Verse 17 declares that (because of these Cosmic Upheavals) the Second 3 ½ Years (the

Great Day of His Wrath) is just now beginning!

Here are two sentences you must master!

1. Where the Cosmic Upheavals first appear, in the book of Revelation, will be the

exact point immediately after the First 3 ½ Years.

2. Moreover, that same point in the preceding sentence will be the just now

beginning point of the Second 3 ½ Years.

You are about to see this now. Look closely at verse 17.

The Cosmic upheavals make their first appearance in Revelation 6:

12-17 below. Study them closely.

Rev 6:12-17

12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great

earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became

as blood;

13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her

untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 6

14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every

mountain and island were moved out of their places.

15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the

chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid

themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face

of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

17 For the great day of his wrath is just now beginning; and who shall be able

to stand? (KJV)

Characteristics of the Cosmic Upheavals contained in verses 12-14

above.

1. The great earthquake erupted

2. Sun became black

3. Moon became as blood

4. The stars fell unto the earth like untimely figs shaken from the tree by a

mighty wind

5. Heaven departed as a scroll rolled up

6. All mountains and islands departed out of their places

Verses 15-16 above shows the reaction to the Cosmic Upheavals by

those who survived the First 3 ½ Years. They are alive when the

Cosmic Upheavals began.

Verses 15-16 above shows the reaction of all kings of the earth, all great men, all rich

men, all chief captains, all mighty men, all bond men and all free men to the mind-

blowing startup of the Cosmic Upheavals. Keep in mind that the above group were those

who survived the First 3 ½ Years and were alive when these Cosmic Upheavals began.

What, then, was their reaction?

They hid in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; then they continuously say two

things to the mountains and rocks. (The Greek Present Tense is used here which means

they continuously kept on keeping on keeping on saying to the mountains and rocks.)

They are continuously saying, “Fall on us! Hide us!” In addition, their saying (fall and

hide us) are both Greek Imperatives. Now, the Greek Imperative, in the Greek New

Testament, is a command, which means do it now. Do it now! Do it now!

To put it differently, all these people are continuously issuing two commands to the

mountains and rocks to fall on them and hide them from the face of him continuously

sitting on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb. (This wrath of the Lamb began with

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 7

the resurrection, rapture, betrayal by signing and instantly manifested itself in the

Revelation, beginning with the opening of the First Seal.)

Again, these people had made it all the way through the horrors of the first Five Seals in

Revelation 6. (The Fifth Seal happens in heaven, not on earth.) Having survived the First

3 ½ Years, they seemed to understand what they are facing next. How could they

understand what they are facing next?

Perhaps they remember a sermon, lesson or teaching on end time prophecy they heard

some time in church. Perhaps they heard it on TV by the great teachers of prophecy like

Hal Lindsay and Jack Van Impe. Perhaps they conclude, then, that the abrupt appearance

of the devastating Cosmic Upheavals, which are just now beginning, are indeed the Great

Day of His Wrath they had heard preached by some preacher somewhere.

They must have remembered sermons on the tribulation-great tribulation, the wrath of the

Lamb-great day of his wrath, the day of the Lord-great and terrible aspect of the day of

the Lord. They must have remembered sermons declaring that the Abrahamic Seed

Group (church), which now includes us Christians, would be taken up in the rapture and

would not be in any of the above.

So they are now remembering end time prophecy teachings from somewhere, but how

did they know to apply those sermons to their inescapable situation? One way or another,

through sermons they had heard or through direct communication from the Holy Ghost,

or whatever else, they knew what was going on. Nevertheless, they still would not repent

of their sins, but they knew what was just now beginning.

We know they knew what was happening to them because they said that what they had

survived in the First 3 ½ Years was the wrath of the Lamb; and what they were seeing

now was the beginning of the great day of his wrath, the beginning of the Second 3 ½

Years.

The main reason we know they knew what they had survived and what they were still

facing was because this is what they said! They said it! They said it. They knew what

they had survived and they knew what they were facing. They said it! They said it! They

said it! They said the great day of his wrath is just now beginning! They said it! Why

don’t we take their word for it? They said it. They were there, we were not. They were in

it. We were not. Why don't we take their word for it!

In verse 17, your King James Bible says, “The great day of his wrath is come.” Yet I use

the expression is just now beginning. How do I justify changing is come into just now

beginning?

How do I justify changing “is come” into “just now beginning?”

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 8

Is come translates one Greek verb which is in the Aorist Tense. A Greek Aorist verb can

view an action or state of being in at least three different ways.

1. An Aorist verb can view and emphasize the action or state in its entirety.

2. An Aorist verb can view and emphasize the action or state at its beginning.

3. An Aorist verb can view and emphasize the action or state at its ending.

In verse 17, we have an Aorist which views the great day of his wrath as just now

beginning. In other words, the Greek Aorist here emphasizes the fact that this action or

state of being is starting now.

When the Aorist views and/or emphasizes the beginning of the action and/or state of

being, it is called an Inceptive Aorist or an Ingressive Aorist.

Below, I include some simple definitions, along with Scripture examples, from three

Greek grammars. This will remove any questions you may have about just now

beginning.

Ray Summers said, “The Ingressive Aorist views the act as having occurred but

emphasizes the initiation.” He gave 2 Corinthians 8:9 as an example: “For your sakes he

became poor.”

Became is an Ingressive or Inceptive Aorist. Here the fact that Jesus was poor was

viewed from its beginning. Jesus was just now beginning to be poor for their sakes. See

page 66 in his Essentials of New Testament Greek.

James Allen Hewett said, “A second function of the Aorist Tense is to express an action

with a view to its inception or beginning (this function is sometimes called ingressive.)”

He gave Romans 14:9 as an example. "To this end Christ both died, and rose, and

revived…”

Rose and revived is an Inceptive or Ingressive Aorist. The fact that Jesus lived again was

viewed from its beginning. Jesus was just now beginning his resurrected life. See page

69 in his book, New Testament Greek.

William Douglas Chamberlain said, “A verb which stresses the idea of beginning will

have the ingressive force:” He gave John 11: 35 as an example. Jesus wept. Wept is an

Ingressive or Inceptive Aorist. Chamberlain’s translation of this verse follows: "He burst

out weeping". See page 76 in his grammar, An Exegetical Grammar of the Greek New

Testament.

These three examples are sufficient for you to understand the Inceptive or Ingressive

Aorist. Verse 17 means just now beginning.

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 9

Some of your Bibles translate verse 17 something like this; Rather than translate verse 17

by great day of his wrath, they translate it by great day of their wrath. Do you see the

difference here? They exchange his wrath for their wrath. Why do they change his into

their?

This change is based on what, to them, is a logical conclusion. They noticed that God was

mentioned in the Revelation in addition to Jesus. Since they were both shown expressing

wrath, they changed his for their, making the verse to read, “…the great day of their

wrath is come.”

To say it another way, they deduced that his wrath should really be their wrath. No matter

what is actually written in the Bible, they changed it. You should stay with his wrath. The

great day of his wrath is just now beginning.

Now see the Four Prophetic Timing Words again!

1. Joel’s before becomes Peter’s before, quoted by Luke.

2. Moreover, both Joel’s before and Peter’s before turns out to be Matthew’s

immediately after and Mark’s vaguer after.

3. Finally, both Joel’s before, Peter’s before, Matthew’s immediately after and

Mark’s vaguer after have now turned out to be John’s just now beginning!

To put it another way:

1. Joel’s “before” becomes Peter’s “before.”

2. Both Joel’s and Peter’s “before” become Matthew’s “immediately after” and

Mark’s vaguer “after.”

3. All four terms have now turned out to be John’s “just now beginning.”

All the terms above, The Four Prophetic Timing Words, are different ways to describe

the timing of the same event; the beginning of the Cosmic Upheavals.

In conclusion of this section concerning the Cosmic Upheavals, you can see now for

yourselves that Matthew's immediately before is also John’s immediately beginning.

Why?

The first appearance of the Cosmic Upheavals in Revelation 6 embraced all the Timing

Words at the same time. Revelation 6: 12-17 contains both Matthew’s and Mark’s

immediately after and vaguer after; it was both Joel’s and Peter’s before and it was also

John’s just now beginning. Remember what we said earlier?

Here are two sentences you must master!

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 10

1. Where the Cosmic Upheavals first appear in the book of Revelation, will be the

exact point immediately after the First 3 ½ Years.

2. Moreover, that same point in the preceding sentence will be the just now

beginning point of the Second 3 ½ Years.

You just saw all this for yourself in the preceding section.

The Abomination of Desolation

Now we look at the First Simultaneous Event that Starts the Second

3 ½ Years: the Abomination of Desolation

Again, remember this! The Abomination of Desolation begins at the same time the

Cosmic Upheavals begin.

Matt 24:15 and 21

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by

Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of

the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. (KJV)

Now we look at Matthew 24 in Chronological Order. Remember here that we reversed the two simultaneous events above, but now we put

them back in the original order Matthew gave them to us. See below.

Verses 4-8 show the character of what we commonly refer to as the

church age.

These verses describe conditions on this earth during the interval of time between the

actual time when Jesus spoke these very words and the beginning of the First 3 ½ Years

of the Tribulation-Daniel’s Seventieth Week-Twelfth Day of the Lord-the wrath of the

Lamb. We know they extend, at least, to this point. How do we know this?

We know this because verse eight says all that has happened between verses 4 and 7,

including the famines, pestilences and earthquakes are the beginning of sorrows.

Then, verse nine describes the betrayal by signing. (See Chapter Four.) Remember, they

are betrayed into The Tribulation by this signing. Consequently, this betrayal by signing

dumps them right into the beginning of the First 3 ½ Years of the Tribulation-70th

Week-

12th

Day of the Lord-the wrath of the Lamb.

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 11

Matt 24:4-8

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive

you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive

many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not

troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and

there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (KJV)

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you etc.

Mark 13: 8-9 changed the word order just a little, but also places them in the beginning of

the First 3 ½ Years of the Tribulation-70th

Week-12th

Day of the Lord-wrath of the Lamb.

8 …there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines

and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.

9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and

in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before kings for my

sake, for a testimony against them.

Matthew gives us famines, pestilences and earthquakes while Mark gives us earthquakes,

famines and troubles.

Deliver is used by both Matthew and Mark in verse nine above. Deliver is still our word

for betray. (See Chapter Four.) This is the betrayal by signing that is the greatest betrayal

in Jewish history. The above characteristics place the Jews into the very beginning of the

First 3 ½ Years. To say it differently, they are betrayed into tribulation by this signing of

the pre-existing covenant.

Now, we are almost ready to see the First 3 ½ years of the final

Seven Years of Earth as we now know it.

But first, we must look at the word “then” used in some of the verses in Matthew 24.

Then” is the translation of the Greek word TOTE, an adverb of time. Basically, it means

“at that time.” But at what time?

1. TOTE is used of concurrent events, or events that occur at the same time.

2. TOTE is used of consequent events, or events that occur as a result of something.

3. TOTE is used of things future.

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 12

The individual contexts will tell you which of the three meanings above apply to any

given Scripture. As you see the word “then” in Matthew 24, refer to this simple, three

point outline above if you need it.

The First 3 ½ Years

Next, Matthew shows us the First 42 months, 3 ½ years, 1260 days

of the Tribulation-Seventieth Week-the 12th

Day of the Lord-the

wrath of the Lamb

In Chapter Four of No Thief Gives Warning Signs, we learned there are Three Events

that start the First 3 ½ Years. Listed below are these Three Events that start this First 3 ½

years of the Tribulation-70th

Week-12th

Day of Lord-the wrath of the Lamb. (In this

Chapter, we introduce the wrath of the Lamb. This is the fourth name for the same seven

years.)

(1) The confirmation of the pre-existing covenant

(2) The revealing of the signer-Antichrist

(3) The betrayal by signing

Matthew shows us that the above Three Events lead us to the

greatest betrayal in the history of the nation of Israel. Again, see

Chapter Four.

Remember! “Deliver you up” in verse 9 translates the Greek word for “betray.”

Remember also that the signing of the Pre-existing Covenant is the greatest betrayal of

the nation of Israel in their history.

Now let us get to the chart below.

Chart Showing the First 3 ½ Years

Remember, verses 4-8 cover the time span between the actual time when Jesus spoke

these very words and the resurrection, rapture and the betrayal by signing, which begins

the First 3 1/2

Years of the Tribulation-Seventieth Week-Twelfth Day of the Lord- the

wrath of the Lamb.

Matt 24:4-8

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 13

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things

must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and

pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. (KJV)

While the characteristics of verses 4-8 are still running, the

Resurrection and the Rapture abruptly ends the church age. The

betrayal by the Antichrist follows immediately

Remember again that immediately after the Resurrection and the Rapture, the previously

existing document is signed between the Antichrist and Israel. This is the greatest

betrayal in the history of Israel.

The Scriptures in the two columns below run simultaneously

The events in this column affect the whole earth but pertain primarily to Israel during the First 3 ½ Years of The Tribulation, Daniel’s 70th Week, 12th Day of the Lord and the Wrath of the Lamb.

The events in this column overlap the events in the column on the left and pertain to the whole earth as well as Israel during the First 3 ½ Years of The Tribulation, Daniel’s 70th Week, 12th Day of the Lord and the Wrath of the Lamb.

Immediately after the resurrection and the

rapture, while verses 4-8 are still running,

but racing to a close, the greatest betrayal

follows.

Matt 24:9-12 9 Then shall they betray you into tribulation,

and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all

nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall

betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and

shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the

love of many shall wax cold. (KJV)

Immediately after the resurrection and the

rapture, while verses 4-8 are still running,

but racing to a close, the First Four Seals

open on Earth and run simultaneously with

Matt 24:9-12 in the left hand column.

Rev 6:1-8 1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of

the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of

thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and

see.

2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and

he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was

given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and

to conquer.

3 And when he had opened the second seal, I

heard the second beast say, Come and see.

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 14

The Second 3 ½ Years

As we saw in Chapter Four of No Thief Gives Warning Signs, Three

Middle Point events, start The Second 3 ½ Years of the Tribulation-70th

Week-the 12th Day of the Lord-and we added the great day of his Wrath.

Here are the Three Middle Point Events:

(1) The setting up of the Abomination of Desolation

(2) The beginning of the Cosmic Upheavals

(3) Appearance of Elijah

Matthew uses only the first two of these three Events

(1) The Abomination of Desolation

(2) The beginning of Cosmic Upheavals.

The underline above is mine.

Remember! “Betray you into tribulation” is the

literal translation for “deliver you up to be

afflicted.”

4 And there went out another horse that was

red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to

take peace from the earth, and that they should kill

one another: and there was given unto him a great

sword.

5 And when he had opened the third seal, I

heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I

beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him

had a pair of balances in his hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four

beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and

Four measures of barley for a penny; and see thou

hurt not the oil and the wine.

7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I

heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and

see.

8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and

his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell

followed with him. And power was given unto them

over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword,

and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts

of the earth. (KJV)

Remember here that the Fifth Seal follows

chronologically with the First four but it occurs in

heaven, not here on earth.

Again, remember that the Abomination of Desolation and the beginning of the

Cosmic Upheavals above start at the same identical time.

Furthermore, they continue together; and they end together at the Second Coming of

Christ to this earth. See Chapter Four again.

Remember! Remember! The Abomination of Desolation and the Cosmic Upheavals start at the very same identical time!!

Immediately after launching the Second 3 ½ Years by the Events described, in Chapter

Four of No Thief Gives Warning Signs, Matthew shows us the events that follow.

These events pertain to both the Jews and the rest of the Earth during the Second 42

months-3 ½ years-1260 days of the Tribulation-Daniel’s Seventieth Week-Twelfth Day

of the Lord and the Great Day of His Wrath. The Scriptures pertaining to the Jews and to

the entire earth run simultaneously.

Some things you need to remember:

1. Part of what Jesus said pertains to the Jewish people, while some of what he said

pertains to the whole world.

2. Again, keep in mind that these two Middle Point Events occur at the same time

and continue together throughout the Second 3 ½ years, ending with the Second

Coming of Christ.

See the chart below.

abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the

prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let

him understand:)

(Verses 16-21 below are personal instructions to the

Jews during the Second 3 ½ Years of the siege by

the Antichrist.)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into

the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come

down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return

back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and

to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the

winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as

was not since the beginning of the world to this

time, no, nor ever shall be.

(Verses 22-26 are things that probably will endure

throughout the Great Tribulation, the Second 3 ½

Years.)

22 And except those days should be

shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for

the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo,

here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false

prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders;

insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive

the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you,

Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he

is in the secret chambers; believe it not. (KJV)

To be sure you understand that the appearance of

Upheavals.

Refresh your memory with verse 17 below where

John said, “The great day of his wrath is just now

beginning.”

Rev 6:12-17 12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth

seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the

sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon

became as blood;

13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth,

even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when

she is shaken of a mighty wind.

14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it

is rolled together; and every mountain and island

were moved out of their places.

15 And the kings of the earth, and the great

men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and

the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free

man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of

the mountains;

16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall

on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth

on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

17 For the great day of his wrath is just now

beginning; and who shall be able to stand? (KJV)

Now Matthew declares the same thing but notes

specifically that the Upheavals from now on occur

“immediately after the tribulation.”

Matt 24:29-31 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those

days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall

not give her light, and the stars shall fall from

heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be

shaken: (KJV)

In other words, Matthew and John perfectly

synchronize the chronological time-frame of these

events.

The sun being darkened, and the moon not giving

her light, and the stars falling from heaven, and the

powers of the heavens being shaken begin

immediately after the tribulation, which is

immediately before the Great Tribulation, the

Second 3 ½ Years of the 70th

Week-12th

Day of the

Lord.

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 17

the Abomination of Desolation and the Great

Tribulation occur at the same identical time, we

show you again verses 15 and 21 joined together.

Matt 24:15 and 21 15 When ye therefore shall see the

abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the

prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let

him understand:)

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as

was not since the beginning of the world to this

time, no, nor ever shall be.

Yet, these same things are the just now beginning

for John’s Second 3 ½ Years which he called the

great day of His wrath.

In addition, the Cosmic Upheavals connected with

Matthew’s immediately after, Joel’s before, Peter’s

before, Mark’s after and Luke’s Three Verse Unit

(you will see this later) all begin at the same time as

Rev. 6: 12-17 above and continue with them until

they all are terminated at the Second Coming of

Christ.

But this is not all; more Cosmic Upheavals continue

throughout the Second 3 ½ years. The Cosmic

Upheavals of the Seven Trumpets start a little later

than the Seven Seals above; but once started, they

run in their order and continue throughout the

balance of the Second 3 1/2

Years. See the Trumpets

in Rev. 8:7, 8, 10, 12; Rev. 9: 1, 13 and Rev. 11:15.

They too will end at the Second Coming of Christ.

Finally, nearer to the end of the Second 3 ½ Year

period, the Seven Vials begin to run in their order

and terminate at the Second Coming of Christ. See

the Vials in Rev. 16: 1, 3, 4, 8, 10, 12 and 17.

(Remember here that Verse 29, in this column,

occurs at the same time as Verses 15 in the left hand

column.)

Matt 24:30-31

30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the

earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his

elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. (KJV)

We shall not carry this chronology any further. You can see it for yourself now. Follow this chart and you

will have no trouble finding and connecting the dots in their proper order. In so doing, you eliminate the

contradictions.

Conclusion to Matthew 24

No Cosmic Upheavals occur anywhere during the First 3 ½ Years of the Tribulation-

Daniel’s 70th

Week-12th

Day of the Lord-Wrath of the Lamb. These Upheavals start at the

beginning of the Second 3 ½ Years and continue completely through it. They stop at the

Second Coming of Christ to the earth.

Mark 13 is practically identical with Matthew 24. How?

1. Mark has the same basic introduction in verses 5-8.

2. Mark also introduces the First 3 ½ Years with the “betrayal” in verse 9.

(“Deliver” translates the Greek word for betrayal.)

3. Mark also introduces the Second 3 ½ Years with the Abomination of Desolation

in verse 14.

4. He also shows us that the Cosmic Upheavals open the Second 3 ½ Years (verse

24-25) and run concurrently with the Abomination of Desolation.

5. Mark also shows the Second Coming of Christ following immediately after the

Cosmic Upheavals have run their course (verses 26-27).

6. One glaring difference between Matthew 24 and Mark 13 is Mark’s vaguer after

compared to Matthew’s immediately after.

Will the Cosmic Upheavals really be continuous?

Throughout this work, we say over and over that the Cosmic Upheavals, once they start,

will continue until the end of the Second 3 ½ Years at the Second Coming of Christ. At

the very least, if they do not continue, they leave the earth with a tidal wave effect that is

just as severe. The contexts of Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 demand this view. But

there is more than just the context that shows us their continuation.

Chapter Ten

The Second Coming: Getting it Right Page 19

In Mark 13: 25, Mark tells us that “the stars of heaven shall fall.” The Greek text says

more than this. It says, “the stars shall be continuously falling out of heaven.”

Continuously falling is a Present Active Participle. You see, a Present Active Participle

designates continuous action in present time. It also designates this time as occurring at

the same time as the main verb.

Our main verb here is shall be. This verb is a Future Indicative. Future Indicative can

mean something will occur in the future in one act; it can also signify that an act or event

will be a continuous process to take place in the future. This is what we have here with

the continuous falling inherent in the Present Active Participle.

Now Matthew 24 does not have the Present Active Participle. But it is not necessary.

Mark supplies the continuous falling of the stars while Matthew simply says they will

fall. Nevertheless, Matthew's will fall is a future tense verb.

Now Mark’s continuously falling stars forces us to see Matthew’s "will fall" as

continuously falling also.

Because of the information supplied to this same set of future circumstances by Mark, we

know beyond a shadow of a doubt, even without looking at the contexts, that the Cosmic

Upheavals will be continuous during the Second 3 ½ Years.

See Chapter 11 for a more complete explanation about the continuation of the Cosmic

Upheavals during the entire Second 3 ½ Years.
