PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Greetings - The spring schedule of events is in full swing. On Tuesday February 26th, a dinner meeting was held at the Sands Convention Center in which Joe Murphy provided an enlightening overview of trends in the audit profession. There were 33 attendees including 11 students from Lehigh University. I would like to thank Joe for providing an informative presentation on trends in the profession. Our next event is the annual Student Night which will be held at DeSales University on April 2nd. Student Night presents a great opportunity to network with peers and students alike. It is also one of only a few remaining chances to earn CPE as our 2012-2013 chapter year and calendar of events are quickly coming to an end. The keynote speaker will be Sam Antar, the former Chief Financial Officer of Crazy Eddie Inc. In addition, there are a couple of changes to the 2013 Student Night program:

2 CPE will be offered

The chapter is partnering with the Lehigh Valley Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and DeSales

Please see our Events section for additional details on Student Night and the remaining spring schedule. Best Regards, Jason

2013 Student Awards Night with Guest

Speaker Sam Antar of the Crazy Eddie, Inc. Securities

Fraud

Date: April 2, 2013

Time Span: 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Location: DeSales University Center, 2755 Station Avenue, Center Valley, PA – Trexler Room

Price: Members $ $25; Students *Free

Event Contact: Kevin Hallman

The Lehigh Valley Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Chapter Academic Relations Committee is holding its

annual Student Night. This event recognizes area students who have been nominated by their professors for

their outstanding achievements and performance. The Chapter will present each student with an award.

This year the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) of the Lehigh Valley will join the Lehigh

Valley IIA in partnership for student night.

We are excited to have Mr. Sam Antar (www.whitecollarfraud.com), former CFO of Crazy Eddie Inc, who

will provide a first person presentation on corporate fraud. The Crazy Eddie fraud may appear smaller and

gentler than the massive billion-dollar frauds exposed in recent times, such as Bernie Madoff's Ponzi

scheme, frauds in the subprime mortgage market, the AIG bailout, and Goldman Sach's failure to disclose.

However, their 18-year crime spree conducted in the light of day serves as a fascinating case study of the

multiple methods of deceit that white collar criminals routinely engage in. The evolution of the Crazy Eddie

crime drama illustrates how petty, easily rationalized criminal infractions can escalate into serious and

complex frauds and conspiracies, without so much as a thought given to concepts such as morality, ethics

and justice.

Refreshments will be served after the distribution of student awards.

Deadline for registration is: March 27, 2013 *Refer to Event Calendar for Event Cancellation Policy
