CHAPTER IXAUDIO TEACHING MATERIAL
A. DEFINITION OF AUDIO TEACHING MATERIAL
This instructional materials if prepared properly and used with a good method, it can be produced and distributed at a cost that is relatively inexpensive and affordable. However, if the teaching material is not designed and used properly, it will only be a distraction to the learning activities of students. So just as with other teaching materials, teaching using audio to do with skill, art, and planning in advance
B. TYPES OF AUDIO TEACHING MATERIAL
There are two kinds of audio learning materials, There are cassette / LPs (PH) / compact disc (CD) and radio. Along with the development of today's modern technology, cassettes and LPs are rarely used. This is due to the dial had sometimes considered not portable anymore, even for a record player has been rare in the market
C. FUNCTION OF AUDIO TEACHING MATERIAL
As revealed by Sudjana and Rival (2005) use audio instructional materials in learning activities, especially in four.
1. teaching music literary (poetry reading) and documentation activities.
2. foreign language teaching, either audio or audiovisual.
3. teaching through radio or educational radio. 4. learning packages for different types of materials
that enable learners to practice the power of interpretation in a field of study
D. ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS OF AUDIO TEACHING MATERIALS
1. Advantages of Audio Teaching Materials The subject matter has been fixed, hardwired, and can be
reproduced with the same content. Production and reproduction are very economical, and easily
distributed. Tools audio program is among the most inexpensive in
comparison to other audiovisual media. Forms of programmed instruction can be used for self-
instruction There are tools that can visually align with the recorded audio
program, and there are also tools that can stop itself so that learners have the opportunity to interact with the program
Mood and behavior of students can be influenced through the use of background music and sound effects
D. ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS OF AUDIO TEACHING MATERIALS
2. Limitations of Audio Teaching Materials Requires caution when only audio is used. Repair usually requires a master recordings produced
(parent) and made a new copy of the new record. The problem will arise when the distribution images
synchronized with audio production. Good audio script development (primarily to be used to
support visual) can be time-consuming and requires special skills.
It should be many times the estimated speed of presentation of verbal material.
Learners have difficulty and confusion when they use audiovisual aligned but deviates from the alignment
D. ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS OF AUDIO TEACHING MATERIALS
3. Advantages and Limitations of Radio Teaching Materials Listeners have the option to continue or shut down the possibility
of listening to radio (receiver). Human memory is not biased capture too much information at one
time, so the time to broadcast a program should be limited so as not too long.
Radio is a one-way communication tool that broadcast material must be simple to be understood by most listeners bias.
Presentation speed must match the speed of message comprehension listener.
All meaning and understanding conveyed through the auditory (sound) or audio form.
Most of us learn through sight or visual channels. Each listener thinks only communicate with the radio. There are some barriers and other obstacles in mechanical
engineering, language, and the noise in the process of listening to the radio
