The “Las Vegas Eagle
Army Dinner” event Fri-
day, 30 August, 6pm hon-
ored Vietnam veterans by
presenting them with the
Vietnam Commemorative
Lapel Pin and the Vietnam
U.S Presidential Proclama-
tion Letter. The Dinner was
held at Diamond Mae’s
Ballroom, Arizona Charlie’s
Decatur.
Guest speakers were
Mr. Andrew Holbert from
Congresswoman Susie
Lee’s Office. Mr. Christo-
pher Hudson from the Vet
Center. Ms. Girlie O’Brien
from the U.S Census Bu-
reau. And Ms. Kelly Well-
ner from Grand Canyon
University.
Our Keynote speaker
who graciously accepted
our invitation from North
Carolina currently serves
as a consultant with the
Vietnam Commemorative
Program. CSM Jimmie W.
Spencer, a purple heart
Vietnam Veteran talked
briefly about his experi-
ence during the Vietnam
war and how our govern-
ment has established the
Vietnam Commemorative
program to honor all our
Vietnam Veterans.
CSM Spencer added
that during the Vietnam
years, our Veterans came
home to a unappreciative
country. Today our Gov-
ernment leaders and fellow
Americans are very appre-
ciative towards military
members and veterans
which is very heart warm-
ing.
CSM Spencer was honored
to be invited to an AUSA
Event that was paying trib-
ute to those who served our
country during the Vietnam
era, and took a moment to
remember those who were
prisoners of war, listed
missing in action, and to
consider their families for
their service and sacrifice.
These recognition events
for our Vietnam Veterans
and families takes him to
cities across our nation and
around the world.
CSM Jimmie W.
Spencer serves as an AUSA
Senior Fellow volunteering
his time to support Chapter
events and programs.

VEGAS CHAPTER 5
Every Sunday morning, you will
hear a distinct tune from a radio sta-
tion and hear a voice that says “That’s
America to Me”. That voice belongs to
Mr. Chuck N. Baker, a Purple Heart
recipient and Vietnam War Veteran,
host of “That’s America to Me”. It airs
every Sunday at 7 am on 97.1 FM.
Even after the war, Mr. Baker stays
patriotic by shining a light on veterans
thru the use of radio in an effort to sup-
port veteran causes in the valley.
Mr. Baker invited the Chapter
President to his radio show for an in-
terview about AUSA and our mission
to support the Army and connect with
the community. The types of various
functions such as dinner events, fund-
raisings, and networking that the
Chapter presents. They talked about
how our voice speaks loudly, to help
our soldiers who have no voice in
Congress, and our many Symposiums
that take place in the U.S. and over-
seas annually.
The interview aired last Sunday, 1
September.
