Hello Wingers and Wingettes:
Hope that everyone has been enjoying this sunny hot weather and has been able to get out and ride
somewhere. Michael & I appreciate everyone’s support by attending our Gathering last month. If
anyone goes on a ride and you would like to put an article in your Newsletter please let Michael know or
if you have pictures that you would like to put in your Newsletter please let Michael or myself know.
Michael & I appreciate everything that each of you do for our chapter. We missed those of you who
were under the weather and did not feel like making it to our Gathering. Each of you were missed and
we hope that you feel better and can make it to our Gathering this month.
Michael & I attended the Virginia District Rally held in Roanoke, VA June 28, 2018 thru Saturday June 30,
2018. We left Huntington at 7:35 a.m. and arrived there at the Sheraton at 11:30a.m. We stayed at the
Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center which was the Host Hotel. Thankfully, finally, Michael & I had
our Trike Course. Tony and Kyle were our Instructors. We were in class on Thursday June 28, 2018 from
2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. The Course was informative and interesting. However, each of us knew that we
were going to learn and understand the material that was provided by GWRRA. Be sure when you buy a
new Helmet to look at the date on the inside because Helmets are only good for 5 years from the date
that is on the inside of the Helmet. ALWAYS wear Long Pants, Boots (over the Ankle), Long Sleeves, Eye
Protection and your Helmet
Friday June 29, 2018 was the range part of the Trike Course. It was supposed to have taken place there
at the Roanoke Airport. Due to lack of communication they were not allowed to have TRC or the ARC at
the Airport. Luckily Big Lots and another store gave the District permission to have the TRC and the ARC
on their Gigantic Parking Lot.
I bought Michael & I VA Rally Long Sleeve Shirts (which we wore to take the Range part of the Trike
Course, bought myself some Snap Jewelry, we had Our Fireball II blessed. Mountain Man also pin
striped/painted my name on the back of my new Helmet that I had to buy at the Missouri Rally. There
were only 12 Vendors at the Virginia Rally.
We had Dinner at Shula’s 347 Grill twice while staying there at the Sheraton. We rode over to Zaxby’s
(Chicken Place) for Lunch after finishing the Trike Course. It was different but very good. Had Breakfast
delivered to our room from the Pi Kitchen Restaurant there at our Hotel on Friday morning because we
had to be on the range at 8:00 a.m. and Breakfast from Hardee’s twice. In my 58 years of being alive
this was the first time I had anything delivered to our room from the Hotel.
Sunny and Donna Luthy drove to the Rally so they were finally able to see Rosalie’s Show. The only
GWRRA members there from West Virginia were Bruce and Terri Stanley, Sharon Titus, Steve, Sunny and
Donna Luthy and Michael and I. Rosalie’s Show was fantastic as always. Some of her guests were KC
and the Sunshine Band, Funky Chicken, Beyonce and her backup singers, and George of the Jungle.
Michael and I cooled off by getting in the Hot Tub and the Pool on Saturday afternoon. I also purchased
myself a new pair of Motorcycle Boots and I received them in the mail last week. We saw George and
Brenda Murphy on Saturday also. While all of us were waiting on the Closing Ceremony to begin, Donna
and I played WINGO. Donna won the first game and I won the third game.
The Virginia Rally will be held in the same location and the same weekend in 2019. After the Closing
Ceremony Michael and I rode with Sunny and Donna over to the Valley View Mall and had Dinner at the
Golden Coral. When we got back to the Sheraton we told Sunny and Donna Good Bye. We then began
packing up and loading the Trailer. We left Roanoke at 8:00 a.m. and arrived Home at 1:30 p.m. on
Sunday.
On the way to Roanoke, VA the GPS took us the scenic route on RT 60 East. That is okay if you simply
are out riding but when you are loaded down and wanting to get somewhere by a certain time it is not
good. Then on the return Home I thought we would be traveling on an Interstate Home. The GPS once
again took us on another scenic route which was 311 to Paint Bucket, WV. The GPS even took us on a
road that really was only a one lane paved path. I prayed and thankfully we came out into White
Sulphur Springs, WV.
I ask directions at the first Gas Station we saw, we filled up the Trike, emptied our bladders and
proceeded approximately 4 miles down/up the road to get onto I64 West and headed home. The
reason the GPS took us the scenic routes or back roads is because I didn’t want to pay the Tolls. Never
again. Once we got onto I64 West we paid 2 Tolls. But at least we were back among civilization. While
on the Turnpike we stopped and had Lunch at Burger King and to simply cool down because it was so
hot. We travelled 489 miles round trip to and from Roanoke, VA.
On Wednesday July 4, 2018 we met at Go-Mart on Rt 60 at the 29th Street Exit. Michael and I and Barry
and Joyce rode to the Wild Horse Café. We rode up Route 2 to Point Pleasant then on up Route 62 and
then crossed the Bridge into Pomeroy, Oh. Joyce became ill after we ate. Michael and I were not aware
that she was ill. They were parked on one side of the Wild Horse and we were on the other side of the
parking lot. I thought that due to Joyce not feeling that they had headed home. But that was not what
happened. Joyce was too ill to ride so Barry rode Home to get the Truck so he could come back and get
Joyce in the Truck. If we had known Joyce was ill we would have stayed there with her. However, we
did not know so Michael and I rode Home by ourselves. Michael & I are truly sorry but it was my
decision to head home. We hope that Joyce is feeling much better.
Michael and I, Donnie Adkins, Roger and Bev Gay and others had planned on riding to attend Second
Saturday in Ironton, Ohio. Michael and I got up early, got dressed, got on the Trike to leave our House
and the Trike would not start. We called Roger Gay to let him know that we would not be meeting them
to attend Second Saturday. Our Fireball II has never not started in the 10 years that we have owned the
Trike. Michael and I changed clothes, put our work clothes on, I cooked us Breakfast and then did
dishes. Michael put the Battery on a charger for a while and then it started. For whatever reason it was
not meant for us to ride to Ironton on Saturday July 14, 2018.
Last Sunday, July 22, 2018 Michael & I rode down to Prestonsburg, KY to Veterans Trike. The rubber
around the opening of our Trunk has split. It is still under warranty so Kevin ordered us a new rubber to
go around the Trunk. Michael put silicone on it so even though it is split our Trunk does not leak. We
rode down there in a light rain. Coming back Home we stopped at Bob Evans for Lunch and then
returned Home.

This past weekend the weather was gorgeous. Michael & I stayed home so that Michael could get his TV
working and mounted since his old TV went bad. Our friend Joe Racer came over and got the TV
working and mounted. A big Thank You to you Joe. Cheryl picked up around the house, cleaned the
house, did laundry, ironed, we both mowed the grass and Michael trimmed the yard.
Hope that each of you were able to take advantage of the gorgeous weather and were able to get out
and ride. Remember to ALWAYS WEAR YOUR HELMET! Our Gathering will be Thursday August 9, 2018
eat @6:00pm and meet @7:00pm. Door prizes are always welcome. Hope to see each of you there!
