The manner in which a brochure is folded determines the order in which the panels are set on the page.
Parallel folds: All folds run in the same direction.
Right-angle folds: Folds created by pages folded at right angles to each other.
Use 8½ by 11-inch paper for letter fold, accordion fold, and single fold brochures.
Use 8½ by 14-inch paper for map fold or gate fold brochures.

Dummy: A mockup that is positioned, folded, trimmed, and/or labeled as the actual publication.

The widths of the panels in most brochures cannot all be equal.
If equal panel sizes are used:• the margins on some of the panels will appear
uneven• the brochure folds will not fall properly in
relation to the text. The thickness of the paper stock affects the
amount of space taken up by the fold.

Style: A group of defined formatting instructions that can be applied at one time to a whole document or to various parts of a document.
A style may be edited which automatically updates any occurrence of that style within a document.
Most built-in styles are available in templates.
Normal style: A set of formatting instructions automatically applied to any text that is typed unless other formatting instructions are specified.

When you modify a style, all text to which that style has been applied is changed.
At the Styles and Formatting task pane, click the down-pointing arrow at the right side of the style name and then click Modify.

creating a customized document. Book fold: Word feature used to print two
pages on one side of the paper. For example, in an eight-page booklet:• pages 8 and 1 are on the same side of the same
sheet• pages 7 and 2 share the same sheet• pages 6 and 3 share the same sheet• page 5 and 4 must print on the same sheet
The Book fold option is available at the Page Setup dialog box at the Margins tab.

Duplex printing: Printing on both sides of the paper. Some printers can print in duplex mode.
Check printer settings by clicking File, Print, and then Properties.
If you do not have a duplex printer, use the manual duplex feature by clicking File, Print, and then check the Manual duplex check box.
Change the printing order by clicking Tools, Options, and then clicking the Print tab.

as a separate page. To use the 2 pages per sheet feature:
1. Click File, Page Setup.2. Select the Margins tab.3. Select 2 pages per sheet at the drop-down list
to the right of the Multiple pages list box. The name of some of the margin boxes will
change depending on the page orientation.
