• Edifying the body of Christ (8-16)– Grace given as measured out by Christ (8-10)– Gifts given to the church (11)• Apostles• Prophets• Evangelists• Pastors • Teachers

– Purpose of these gifts (12-16)• Equipping the saints for work of ministry• Edifying the body of Christ

Chapter 4Walk In Unity

– Purpose of these gifts (12-16)• Equipping the saints for work of ministry• Edifying the body of Christ

– The unity of the faith– The knowledge of the Son of God– A perfect man– The measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ

• That we might no longer be children– Tossed by every wind of doctrine– Tricked by the cunning craftiness of deceivers

• That we might speak the truth in love– In order to grow up in all things into Christ– Joined and knit together with every part doing its work

Chapter 4Walk In Purity (17-32)

• Not as the Gentiles walk (17-19)– Futility of their mind– Given over to licentiousness

• As learned from Christ (20-32)– Heard, taught by Him and the truth which is in Him• Put off the old man, corrupt in its deceitful desires• Renewed in the spirit of one’s mind• Put on the new man (self) created after the likeness of

God in true righteousness and holiness

Chapter 4Walk In Purity (17-32)

• Not as the Gentiles walk (17-19)• As learned from Christ (20-32)– Putting away the things of the old man:• Lying, but speaking the truth in love• Anger, giving no place to the devil• Stealing instead of working and giving to those in need• Corrupt speech, speaking with grace to edify those who

hear• Grieving the Holy Spirit, by whom we were sealed for

the day of redemption• All bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking, all

malice
