・ EX4R

• Pressing the touch panel of EX4R will not work while the maintenance cable is inserted into Serial Interface 2.

• For the initial settings of the analog touch panel, refer to Chapter 33 "2.1.2 Initialize" in the "MICRO/I HG2G, HG1F/2F/2S/3F/4F Instruction Manual".

• When more than one button is pressed, the touch screen will not be able to detect such operation. Instead, the center point between buttons pressed in the display area will be triggered. This is due to the detection characteristics of the analog touch panel. When more than one button is pressed simultaneously, the resulting operation may vary.

Chap.4

4 Installation and Wiring Be aware of the following when mounting the HG Series main unit and wiring it to the host unit.

4.1 Installation Location

Operating Environmental Considerations

To ensure reliable and safe operation of the equipment, avoid the types of installation locations listed below.

・ Places where there is a lot of dust, salt or iron

filings.

・ Places where the equipment will be splashed

with oil or chemicals.

・ Places where the equipment will be exposed to

direct sunlight.

・ Places where corrosive or flammable gasses

are present.

・ Places where vibration will be directly

transmitted to the equipment.

・ Places where condensation may occur due to

sudden temperature changes.

Ambient temperature considerations

・ Allow sufficient space for ventilation, and install

the equipment away from heat sources.

・ Allow at least 100mm between the HG3F/4F

and walls or other equipment.

・ If installing the HG3F/4F in a location where the

ambient temperature will exceed the allowed

rating, install cooling fans or air-conditioning

equipment.

・ The HG3F/4F has been designed to use natural

airflow for cooling when installed vertically. If

you install it using any other orientation, use

forced-air cooling, or lower the ambient

operating temperature.

4.2 Installation

Place the HG3F/4F in a panel cut-out and fasten with the attached mounting clips at four places to a torque of 0.4 through 0.6 N・m uniformly. Do not tighten excessively or unevenly, otherwise the HG3F/4F may be damaged. Take into consideration the viewing angle and switch operation factors when choosing the installation height.

If the installation screws are not installed so that they are at right angles to the panel, the unit may separate from the panel.

4.3 Wiring

Wiring Considerations

・ Do not install the HG3F/4F close to high-voltage

or arc-generating equipment (such as circuit

breakers etc.).

・ Install the unit at least 200mm from the high

input voltage of the power supply.

・ In the case of DC power supply models, keep

the distance between the unit and the power

supply as short as possible.

・ Use separate power supplies and wiring for

electromotive equipment and I/O equipment.

・ A host connection cable is provided with the

equipment. Please specify your requirement.

・ If you will use your own cable for connecting to

the host, ensure that the connector and wiring

are of the recommended type. Also, do not

exceed the recommended length for the

cable.

Wiring to the Power Supply Terminals

・ Terminal No. allocation is as follows.

Symbol Function + Power supply +24VDC - Power supply -24VDC

Function ground

・ Use applicable cables for wiring and

recommended ferrules, (made by JST ) as

follows:

Applicable cable -------- Twist the AWG14 to

18(0.75 to 2.0mm2)

Use V1.25-4(RAV1.25-4),V2-P4(JST)

considerable.

・ The tightening torque range is 1.0N.m to

1.3N.m.

・ Twist the AWG14 to 18(0.75 to 2.0mm2) power

supply wires as tightly together as possible,

and keep the wiring distance between the

power supply and the unit as short as

possible.

・ Function Ground and Signal Ground are

connected internally of HG3F/HG4F.

・ Use separate power supplies and wiring for

electromotive equipment and I/O equipment.

・ For safety purposes, connect Function Ground

terminal of HG3F/HG4F to earth ground.

・ Use an IEC60127-approved fuse of 1A on the

power line to meet voltage and current

requirements (recommended fuse: Littelfuse 5

x 20mm slow-blow type 218000 series Type

T). This is required when exporting equipment

containing the HG3F/4F to Europe.

Note: Special Conditions

・ If you decide to use a single power supply for

HG3F/4F with more than one external device,

take extra precautions.

Some external devices may produce electrical

noise and short circuit the entire system setup,

therefore, damaging the communication

circuit of HG3F/4F and non-isolated

Communication Device (i.e. PLC).

To prevent such damage, choose a proper

solution depending on your system setup.

・ Use a separate earth ground from the external

noise source device.

・ The wire for grounding should be thick and

short in order to direct the noise from the

noise source device to the earth ground.

・ Use a separate power supply from the external

noise source device.

・ Disconnect the Function Ground terminal of

HG3F/4F from earth ground. (Be sure to

check the EMC performance on your system

because if the Function Ground is

disconnected, it may decrease EMC

performance.)

・ Connect Function Ground terminal of HG3F/4F

and 0V of the Power Supply in order to direct

the noise to 0V. This will avoid the noise from

going through the communication circuit.

・ Insert an isolator on the communication line of

HG3F/HG4F and the non-isolated

communication device (i.e. PLC) to prevent

damage.

Wiring Serial Interface 1

・ Use the recommended connector (connector:

JBZ-25P-90(JST), cover: J-C25-C2(JST)).

・ Perform the wiring in accordance with the

requirements of the communication method

used. This will minimize the influence of

external electrical noise and electrical noise

generated by the wiring itself. EMC evaluation

has not been done for the cables.

・ Use shielding for the cables, and install line

clamp filters near each end of the cable.

Example TDK: ZCAT2035-0930

5 Inspection Periodically inspect the HG3F/4F to keep it in the best operating condition at all times.

・ The HG3F/4F display screen and protective

sheet are easily damaged. Never attempt to

operate the unit with tools or other hard

objects.

・ To clean the display screen, wipe it with a soft

cloth moistened with a mild detergent or

alcohol. Never attempt to clean the display screen

using paint thinner, ammonia, strong acid, strong alkaline, or other powerful solvents.

・ Terminals and connectors

Check for loose screws, loose connectors and

damaged wiring.

・ Installation

Check the installation brackets and screws for

warping and looseness.
