{45إن المتقني ف جنات وعيون }Surely the pious will be in Gardens and Springs [15:45]

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Mahboub, from Ali Bin Ra’ab abd Yaqoub Al-Sarraaj who has said:

Abu Abdullahasws has narrated that: ‘Amir-ul-Momineenasws, when they had pledged allegiance to himasws after the killing of Usman, ascended the Pulpit, so heasws said (in hisasws sermon):

ها أهلها و و الله ما كتمت وشة و ل كذبت كذبة و لقد ن بئت بذا المقام و هذا الي وم أل و ل علي طايا خيل شس ح إن المت بم ف النار أل و إن ا ت ها فأوردت هم النة و فتحت لم خلعت لمها ف ت قح ها أهلها و أعطوا أزم ل علي قوى مطايا ذلل ح لت

أب واب ها و وجدوا رحيها و طيب ها و قيل لم ادخلوها بسلم آمنني

‘By Allahazwj! Iasws have neither concealed, nor blocked, nor lied a lie, and Iasws have been foretold about this place and this day. Indeed! And the sins are like uncontrollable horses which carry its riders, with its harnesses removed, plunging into the Fire. Indeed! And the piety is like a humble ride which takes its rider, along with its rein, to the Paradise, and its Doors will be opened up for them, and they will

find its aroma and goodness. And it will be said to them: “Enter it in peace, security!” [15:46]’.1

Eight doors of the Paradise

حدثنا بكر بن عبد اهلل بن و عنه، قال: حدثنا أحد بن احلسن القطان، قال: حدثنا أحد بن حيىي بن زكريا القطان، قال:حبيب، قال: حدثنا ممد بن عبد اهلل قال: حدثنا علي بن احلكم، عن أبان بن عثمان، عن ممد بن الفضيل الزرقي، عن أب

إن للجنة مثانية أبواب: باب يدخل منه النبيون و الصديقون، و »)عليهم السلم ، قال: عبد اهلل، عن أبيه، عن جده، عن علي باب يدخل منه الشهداء و الصاحلون، و مخسة أبواب يدخل منها شيعتنا و مبونا،

And from him, said, ‘It was narrated to us by Ahmad bin al Hassan Al Qatan, from Ahmad Bin Yahya Bin Zakariyya, from Bakr Bin Abdullah Bin Habeeb, from Muhammad bin Abdullah, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Aban Bin Usman, from Muhammad Bin Al Fazeyl Al Zarqy,

‘From Abu Abdullahasws, from hisasws fatherasws, from Aliasws having said: ‘For the Paradise there are eight doors – a door from which would be entering the Prophetsas, and the truthful ones; and a door from which would be entering the martyrs, and the righteous ones. And there are five doors from which ourasws Shias and those that love usasws would be entering from.

فل أزال واقفا على الصراط أدعو و أقول: رب سلم شيعيت و ميب و أنصاري، و من تولين ف دارالدنيا فإذا النداء من بطنان العرش: قد أجبت دعوتك، و شفعتك ف شيعتك

So Iasws will not cease standing upon the Bridge, and Iasws would be saying: ‘Lordazwj! Secure myasws Shias, and the ones who love measws, and myasws helpers, and one who befriended measws in the house of the world!’ So there would be a Call from the interior of the Throne: “Iazwj have Answered yourasws supplication, and yourasws intercession regarding yourasws Shias!”

و يشفع كل رجل من شيعيت، و من تولين و نصرين، و حارب من حاربين بفعل أو قول، ف سبعني ألفا من جرانه و أقربائه.

And he would intercede for each one from myasws Shias, and the one who befriended measws and helped measws, and battled against the one who battled measws, either by deed or by words, regarding seventy thousand from his neighbours and his relatives.

«. و باب يدخل منه سائر املسلمني ممن يشهد أن ل إله إل اهلل، و مل يكن ف قلبه مثقال ذرة من بغضنا أهل البيت

And there is a door from which the rest of the Muslims would enter, from the ones who testified that there is no god except Allahazwj, and there did not happen to be in

his heart the weight of a particle from hatred for usasws, the Peopleasws of the Household’’.2

VERSES 47 - 49

{ 47صدورهم من غل إخوانا على سرر مت قابلني } ون زعنا ما ف And We shall Remove whatever is in their chests from grudges, as brethren upon couches face to face [15:47]

ها بخرجني } هم فيها نصب وما هم من {48ل يسToil shall touch them therein, and they will not be exited from it [15:48]

{49ن بئ عبادي أين أنا الغفور الرحيم }Inform My servants that I am the Forgiving, the Merciful! [15:49]

أحسن صنع الله إليهم ي وم القيامة و الله اهلل عليه وآله و نن و شيعت نا ب عدنا حبذا شيعت نا ما أق رب هم من عرش الله عز و جل و س ذلك أو يدخلهم زهو لسلمت عليهم الملئكة ق بل لو ل أن ي ت عاظم النا

A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Al-Hassan Bin Shammoun, from Abdullah Bin Abdu Rahmaan, from Abdullah Bin Al-Qasim, from Amro Bin Abu Al-Maqdaam, who has narrated the following:

Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘Indeed! And for everything is an essence and the essence of the children of Adamas is Muhammadsaww, and usasws, and ourasws Shias after usasws. How lovely are ourasws Shias! What would be closer to the Throne of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic than them on the Day of Judgement? By Allahazwj! Had the people not magnified that, or pride entered into them, the Angels would have greeted them already.

By Allahazwj! There is no servant from ourasws Shias who recites the Quran whilst standing in his Salat, except that there are a hundred Rewards for him for every letter of it, nor does he recite it seated in his Salat, except that there are a fifty Rewards for him for every letter of it, nor in other than Salats, except that there are ten Rewards for him for every letter of it. And the one from ourasws Shias who is silent, there is the Reward for him of the recitation of the Quran by the one who is opposed to him.

ر الصافني ف سبيله أن تم و الله الذين قال أن تم و الله على ف رشكم نيام لكم أجر المجاهدين و أن تم و الله ف صلتكم لكم أج نان ف الرأس و الله عز و جل و ن زعنا ما ف صدورهم من غل ا شيعت نا أصحاب الرب عة العني عي إخوانا على سرر متقابلني إن

لئق كلهم كذلك إل أن الله عز و جل ف تح أبصاركم و نان ف القلب أل و ال صارهم.أعمى أب عي

By Allahazwj! You sleep upon your beds and there is the Reward for you of the Holy Warriors (Al-Mujahideen). By Allahazwj! You are in your Salats, and there is for you the Reward of the being in the rows of Hisazwj Way. By Allahazwj! You (Shias) are the ones for whom Allahazwj has Said: And We shall Remove whatever is in their chests from grudges, being brethren upon couches face to face [15:47]. But rather, ourasws Shias are the people with four eyes – two eyes in the head and two eyes in the heart. Indeed! And all of the creatures are like that, except that Allahazwj has Opened your eyes (of the heart), and Blinded their eyes (heart)’.3

يا »و من طريق املخالفني، ما نقله أبو نعيم احلافظ، عن رجاله، عن أب هريرة، قال: قال علي بن أب طالب )عليه السلم : رسول اهلل، أيا أحب إليك، أنا أم فاطمة؟ قال: فاطمة أحب إيل منك، و أنت أعز علي منها.

And from the ways of the opposition, what Abu Naeem Al Hafiz copied from his men,

(It has been narrated) from Abu Hureyra who said, ‘Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws said: ‘O Rasool-Allahsaww! Which one of usasws is more beloved to yousaww, Iasws or (Syeda) Fatimaasws?’ Hesaww said: ‘Fatimaasws is more beloved to mesaww than youasws, and youasws are more dear to mesaww than herasws’.

و قال: و كأين بك و أنت على حوضي تذود عنه الناس، و إن عليه أباريق عدد جنوم السماء، و إين و أنت و احلسن و احلسني و حزة و جعفر ف النة: إخوانا على سرر متقابلني و أنت معي و شيعتك،

And hesaww said: ‘It is as if Isaww am with youasws at the Fountain providing the people from it, and with youasws are pitchers of the number of the stars in the sky, and Isaww, and youasws, and Al-Hassanasws, and Al-Husaynasws, and Hamzaasws, and Ja’farasws are in the Paradise are: as brethren upon couches face to face [15:47], and youasws and yourasws Shias are with mesaww’.

أحدكم ف قفا مث قرأ رسول اهلل )صلى اهلل عليه و آله : و ن زعنا ما ف صدورهم من غل إخوانا على سرر متقابلني ل ينظر «.صاحبه

Then Rasool-Allahsaww recited: And We shall Remove whatever is in their chests from grudges, as brethren upon couches face to face [15:47]. Not one of you would look into the palm of his companion (to covet what he has got)’.4

عت أبا ع )عليه السلم ي قول خرجت أنا و بد الله علي بن إب راهيم عن أبيه عن ابن أب عمر عن عمرو بن أب المقدام قال سيعة فسلم عليهم مث قا ل إين و الله لحب رياحكم و أرواحكم فأعينوين أب حت إذا كنا ب ني القب و المنب إذا هو بأناس من الش

بعبد ف لي عمل بعمله أن تم شيعة الله رع و اجتهاد و اعلموا أن ولي ت نا ل ت نال إل بالورع و الجتهاد و من ائ تم منكم على ذلك بو ابقون الولون و ابقون ف الخرة إل النة و أن تم أنصار الله و أن تم الس ن يا و الس ابقون ف الد ابقون الخرون و الس الس

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Amro Bin Abu Al-Maqdaam who said:

I heard Abu Abdullahasws saying: ‘Iasws and myasws fatherasws went out until weasws arrived in between the Grave and the Pulpit (of the Rasool Allahsaww). There was a group of Shiites over there, so Iasws greeted them, and then said: ‘By Allahazwj! Iasws love your aromas, and your spirits, so help measws upon that by being pious and striving. And know that ourasws Wilayah cannot be achieved except by piety and the striving, and the one from among you who follows a servant (an Imamasws); he should emulate what he does. You are the Shiites of Allahazwj, and you are the Helpers of Allahazwj, and you are the foremost of the former ones, and the foremost of the later ones, and the foremost in the world, and the foremost in the Hereafter (and) to the Paradise.

ر و استبشر ف و الله لقد مات رسول الل منني )عليه السلم لقنب يا ق نب ر أبشر و بش ه )صلى اهلل عليه وآله و هو على أمته الميعة ساخط إل الش

Weasws have taken your responsibility for the Paradise on the Guarantee of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic, and the guarantee of the Rasool Allahsaww. By Allahazwj! There are no Levels of the Paradise where there are more Spirits than yours, so compete for the higher Levels. You are the good ones and your women are the good ones. Every Momina is a virgin Hourie and every Momin is a Truthful one. And Amir-Al-Momineenasws has said to Qanbar: ‘Receive good news, rejoice with the good news, and convey the good news, for, by Allahazwj, the Rasool Allahsaww passed away while hesaww was angry with hissaww community except for the Shiites’.

Indeed! For everything there is an honour and the honour of Al-Islam are the Shias. Indeed! For everything there is a pillar and the pillar of Al-Islam are the Shias. Indeed! For everything there is a chief and the chief of the gatherings is the

gathering of the Shias. Indeed! For everything is an Imam, and the Imam of the earth is the land on which the Shas live.

و الله لو ل ما ف الرض منكم ما أن عم الله على أهل خلفكم و ل و الله لو ل ما ف الرض منكم ما رأيت ب أبدا عني عشبان يا و ل لم ف الخرة من نصيب كل ناصب و إن ت عبد و هد منسوب إل هذه الية عاملة اجت أصابوا الطيبات ما لم ف الد

ناصبة تصلى نارا حامية فكل ناصب متهد ف عمله هباء

By Allahazwj! Had you all not been in the earth, an eye would have never ever see herbs. By Allahazwj! Had you all not been in the earth, Allahazwj would not have Favoured the people who oppose you nor would they have been in any goodness. They would have nothing for them in the world nor any share for them in the Hereafter. Every hostile one (Nasibi), if he were to worship, and struggle, would be attributed to this Verse: Toiling Nasibis (Hostile ones) [88:3] Arriving to a scorching Fire [88:4]. So every Hostile One (Nasibi) who strives, his deeds would be wasted.

من شيعتنا ي نام إل أصعد الله عز و جل شيعت نا ي نطقون بنور الله عز و جل و من يالفهم ي نطقون بت فلت و الله ما من عبد ها فإن كان قد أ ماء ف يبارك علي ها أجلها جعلها ف كنوز رحته و ف رياض جنة و ف ظل عرشه و إن كان روحه إل الس تى علي

را ب عث با مع أمنته من الملئكة لي ردوها إل السد الذي خرجت منه يه لتسكن ف أجلها متأخ

Ourasws Shias speak with the Light of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic, and the one who are opposed to them speak by instinct (biological needs). By Allahazwj! There is none from ourasws Shias who sleeps, except that Allahazwj Makes his soul to ascend to the sky to be Blessed. So if its term (death) has come, Heazwj Makes it to be within the Treasures of Hisazwj Mercy, and in the Gardens of Paradise, and in the Shade of Hisazwj Throne. And if its term (death) has been delayed, Heazwj sends it back along with the trusted Angels to return it to the body from which it came out to dwell in it.

اركم لاصة الله عز و جل و إن ف قراءكم لهل الغن و إن كم و عم أغنياءكم لهل القناعة و إنكم كلكم لهل و الله إن حاج دعوته و أهل إجابته.

By Allahazwj those of you who perform the Hajj and the Umrah are the special ones of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic. And the poor ones among you are the rich ones, and your rich ones are the contented ones. And all of you are the people whom Heazwj Invited and the people who accepted Hisazwj Call’.5

ممد بن يعقوب: عن عدة من أصحابنا، عن سهل بن زياد، عن ممد بن سليمان، عن أبيه، قال: كنت عند أب عبد اهلل )عليه يا أبا ممد، لقد ذكركم اهلل ف كتابه، فقال: إخوانا على سرر »قال له: -و ذكر حديثا -السلم إذ دخل عليه أبو بصر

«. د بذا غركممتقابلني و اهلل، ما أرا

Muhammad Bin Yaqoub, from a number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Suleyman, from his father who said,

‘I was in the presence of Abu Abdullahasws when Abu Baseer entered’ – and he mentioned a Hadeeth. Heasws said to him: ‘O Abu Muhammad! Allahazwj has Mentioned you (Shias) in Hisazwj Book, so Heazwj Said: ‘brethren upon couches face to face [15:47]. By Allahazwj! Heazwj did not Mean by this other than you (Shias)’’.6

ليس منكم رجل و ل امرأة إل و ملئكة اهلل يأتونه بالسلم، و أنتم »قال: عن ممد بن مروان، عن أب عبد اهلل )عليه السلم «. الذين قال اهلل: و ن زعنا ما ف صدورهم من غل إخوانا على سرر متقابلني

From Muhammad Bin Marwan,

‘From Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘There isn’t from you (Momineen) a man or a woman except the Angels of Allahazwj come to him with the greetings, and you are those for whom Allahazwj Said: And We shall Remove whatever is in their chests from grudges, as brethren upon couches face to face [15:47]’’.7

اخ »الشافعي ف )املناقب يرفعه إل زيد بن أرقم، قال: دخلت على رسول اهلل )صلى اهلل عليه و آله فقال: ابن املغازيل إين م «. أنت أخي و رفيقي»مث قال لعلي: «. بينكم كما آخى اهلل بني امللئكة

Ibn Al Magazily Al Shafi’e in (the book) Al Manaqib, raising it to Zayd Bin Arqam who said,

‘I went over to Rasool-Allahsaww, so hesaww said: ‘Isaww am establishing brotherhood between you all just as Allahazwj Established brotherhood between the Angels’. Then hesaww said to Aliasws: ‘Youasws are mysaww brother and mysaww friend’.

Then hesaww recited this Verse: brethren upon couches face to face [15:47]. The friendship for the Sake of Allahazwj, looking at each other’’.8

VERSES 50 - 55

{50ذاب هو العذاب الليم }وأن ع And surely My Punishment, it is the painful Punishment [15:50]

Al Ayyashi, from Muhammad Bin Al Qasim,

(It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Sarahas said to Ibrahimas: ‘Youas have become old. If only youas would supplicate to Allahazwj that Heazwj should Grant youas a son who would be a delight of ouras eyes, from Allahazwj has Taken youas as a friend, and Heazwj would Answer youras supplication, if Allahazwj so Desires it’.

So Ibrahimas asked hisas Lordazwj that Heazwj should Grant himas a knowledgeable boy. So Allahazwj Revealed unto himas: “Iazwj will Grant to youas a lenient boy, then Test youas regarding him by the obedience to Meazwj”.

فمكث إبراهيم بعد البشارة ثلث سنني، مث جاءته البشارة من اهلل بإساعيل مرة اخرى بعد -قال أبو عبد اهلل )عليه السلم : «.ثلث سنني

Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘So Ibrahimas remained, after the good news, for three years. Then came the good news from Allahazwj of Ismailas, for another time after three years’.9

] العياشي [ عن أب حزة الثمايل، عن أب جعفر )عليه السلم قال: إن اهلل تبارك وتعال ملا قضى عذاب قوم لوط وقدره أحب ليسلي به مصابه بلك قوم لوط، قال: فبعث اهلل رسل إل إبراهيم يبشرونه أن يعوض إبراهيم من عذاب قوم لوط بغلم عليم

باساعيل قال: فدخلوا عليه ليل ففزع منهم وخاف أن يكونوا سراقا، فلما رأته الرسل فزعا مذعورا * )قالوا سلما قال إنا منكم وجلون قالوا ل توجل إنا نبشرك بغلم عليم *.

Al Ayyashi, from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly,

Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘When Allahazwj Ordained the Punishment upon the people of Lutas and Measured it, Loved to Compensate Ibrahimas from the Punishment of the people of Lutas with a knowledgeable boy, by which hisas difficulty of the destruction of the people of Lutas would be eased’.

قال أبو جعفر: والغلم العليم هو إساعيل بن هاجر، فقال إبراهيم للرسل: * )أبشرتوين على أن مسن الكب فبم تبشرون قالوا بشرنك باحلق فل تكن من القنطني *

Abu Ja’farasws said: ‘And the knowledgeable boy, heas was Ismailas son of Hajaras. So Ibrahimas said to the Messengers ‘Are you giving me glad tidings upon the old age having touched me! So by what are you giving me glad tidings?’ [15:54] They said: ‘We give you glad tidings by the Truth, therefore do no become from the despairing ones’ [15:55]’.10

قد كبت، فلو إن سارة قالت لبراهيم )عليه السلم :»عن ممد بن القاسم، عن أب عبد اهلل )عليه السلم قال: العياشي: دعوت اهلل أن يرزقك ولدا فتقر أعيننا، فإن اهلل قد اختذك خليل، و هو ميب دعوتك إن شاء اهلل،

Al Ayyashi, from Muhammad Bin Al Qasim,

‘From Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Sarahra said to Ibrahimas, ‘Youas have become aged, if only youas would supplicate to Allahazwj that Heazwj Graces us a son, so our eyes would be delighted, for Allahazwj has Taken youas as a friend, and Heazwj will Answer youras supplication, Allahazwj Willing.

-فسأل إبراهيم )عليه السلم ربه أن يرزقه غلما عليما. فأوحى اهلل إليه: أين واهب لك غلما حليما، مث أبلوك فيه بالطاعة يل

So Ibrahimas asked hisas Lordazwj if Heazwj could Grace himas a knowledgeable boy, and Allahazwj Revealed unto himas: “Iazwj will Grant youas a forbearing boy, then Iazwj will Try youas regarding himas by obedience to meas”.

Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘So Ibrahimas remained after the receipt of the glad tidings, for three years. Then the glad tidings came to himas from Allahazwj with Ismailas another time after three years’’.11

VERSE 56

الون } {56قال ومن ي قنط من رحة ربه إل الضHe said: ‘And who would despair from Mercy of his Lord except for the straying ones?’ [15:56]

اللهم ل تقنطين من رحتك، مث جهر، »عن صفوان المال، قال: صليت خلف أب عبد اهلل )عليه السلم فأطرق، مث قال: «.فقال: و من ي قنط من رحة ربه إل الضالون

From Safwan Al Jamal who said,

‘I prayed Salat behind Abu Abdullahasws, so heasws became silent, then said: ‘O Allahazwj! Iasws do not despair from Yourazwj Mercy. Then heasws (recited) loudly, so heasws said ‘And who would despair from Mercy of his Lord except for the straying ones?’ [15:56]’12

VERSES 57 - 60

{57قال فما خطبكم أي ها المرسلون }He said: ‘What is your concern, O you messengers?’ [15:57]

{58قالوا إنا أرسلنا إل ق وم مرمني }They said: ‘We are Sent to a criminal people, [15:58]

رنا {60إن ها لمن الغابرين } إل امرأته قدExcept for his wife. We have decreed for her to be from the ones remaining behind’ [15:60]

قال إبراهيم للرسل فما خطبكم بعد البشارة ؟ قالوا إنا ارسلنا إل قوم مرمني قوم لوط اهنم كانوا قوما فاسقني لننذرهم عذاب رب العاملني.

Ibrahimas said to the messengers: ‘What is your concern, O you messengers?’ [15:57] They said: ‘We are Sent to a criminal people, [15:58]. They have been a transgressing people, in order to warn them of the Punishment of the Lordazwj of the worlds’.

ا اهنا ملن الغابرين. قال أبو جعفر: قال إبراهيم: ان فيها لوطا قالوا نن أعلم بن فيها لننجينه وأهله إل امرأته قدرن

Abu Ja’farasws said: ‘Ibrahimas said: ‘Lutas is among them’. They said: ‘We are more knowing of the ones who are therein. We shall rescue himas and hisas family, Except for his wife. We have decreed for her to be from the ones remaining behind’ [15:60]’.13

VERSES 61 - 69

ا جاء آل لوط المرسلون } {61ف لمSo when the messengers came to the family of Lut [15:61]

{62قال إنكم ق وم منكرون }He said: ‘You are a people unknown (to me)’ [15:62]

ناك {63با كانوا فيه يت رون } قالوا بل جئ They said: ‘But, we come to you with what they were disputing about [15:63]

ناك باحلق وإنا لصادقون } {64وأت ي And we come to you with the Truth, and we are truthful [15:64]

مرون فأسر بأهلك بقطع من الليل واتبع أدبارهم ول ي لتفت منكم أحد وامضوا حيث ت {65}

So travel with your family in a part of the night and you follow behind them, and not one of you should turn back, and go wherever you are Commanded to [15:65]

لء مقطوع مصبحني } لك المر أن دابر ه نا إليه ذ {66وقضي And We (Made known) the decree to him, that the roots of these shall be cut off by the morning [15:66]

{67وجاء أهل المدينة يستبشرون }And the people of the city came out rejoicing (at the new arrivals) [15:67]

لء ضيفي فل ت فضحون } {68قال إن هHe (Lut) said: ‘Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me’ [15:68]

{69وات قوا الله ول ختزون }And fear Allah and do not humiliate me’ [15:69]

(It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’farasws having said: ‘The people of Lutas were from the best of the people Created by Allahazwj. So Ibleesla sought them with an intense seeking, and from their merits and their goodness was that whenever they went to the work, they went out altogether, and the women would remain behind them. So Ibleesla would not cease to transgress them, So when they would return, Ibleesla would have spoil whatever they had worked. So some of them said to the others, ‘Come, let us observe this one who is spoiling our provisions. So they observed, and there was a boy as good looking as can be from the boys. So they said to him, ‘You are the one who is spoiling our provisions time after time’.

So they formed a consensus upon killing him. So they lodged him for the night with a man. So when it was the night, he shrieked. So the man said, ‘What is the matter with you?’ So he said, ‘My father used to sleep me upon his belly’. So he said to him, ‘Come, so sleep upon my belly’. So he did not cease to massage the man until he taught him that he should do it with himself. Thus the first one to do it was Iblees la, and the second one to do it was him. Then he crept away and fled from them.

And the morning came, so the man went over informing with what he had done with the boy and he astounded them from it, and they were not understanding it. So they placed their hands in it, indulging in it, until the men sufficed themselves with the men, with each other. Then they went on looking out for the passers-by on the road, so they would be doing it with them until they had plagued the people of their cities. Then they neglected their women and faced towards the boys.

So when hela saw that hisla matter had prevailed among the men, hela went to the women. So hela changed himselfla into a woman, so hela said, ‘Your men are doing it to each other’. They said, ‘Yes, we have seen that’. And every time Lutas advised them, Ibleesla would stray them until the women sufficed themselves with the women.

So when the argument was completed upon them, Allahazwj Sent Jibraeelas and Mikaeelas, and Israfeelas in the form of boys wearing gowns. So theyas passed by Lutas and heas was farming, so heas said: ‘Where are youas intending to go. Ias have not seen anyone more good-looking than youas’. Theyas said, ‘Ouras Masterazwj has Sent usas to the lord of this city’. Heas said: ‘Has it not reached youras Masterazwj of what the people of this city are doing? O myas sons! By Allahazwj, they are taking to the men, so they are doing it with them until the blood comes out’. Ouras Masterazwj has Commanded usas that weas pass through the middle of it’. Heas said: ‘There is a need of mineas to youas’. They said, ‘And what is it?’ Heas said: ‘Await over here until the crossing over of the darkness’.

Heasws said: ‘So they were seated. So heas sent for hisas daughter saying, ‘Come to me with some bread for them, and come to me with some water for them in the gourd, and come to me with a cloak for them to cover themselves with from the cold’. So when the daughter went, and they faced the rain and the valley. So Lutas said: ‘(This is) the time they go with the young boys of the valley. Arise until we pass by’, and Lutas went on to walk in the base of the wall, and Jibraeelas and Mikaeelas and Israfeelas were walking in the middle of the road. So heas said: ‘O myas sons, walk over here’. So theyas said: ‘Ouras Masterazwj has Commanded usas to walk in the middle of it’. And Lutas wanted to benefit from the darkness.

ا أن نظرو و مر إبليس فأخذ من حجر امرأة صبيا فطرحه ف البئر ف تصايح أهل المدينة كلهم ا إل الغلمان ف على باب لوط ف لملء ضيفي فل ت فضحون ف ضيفي قالوا هم ثلثة خذ واحدا و أعطنا اث ن ني منزل لوط قالوا يا لوط قد دخلت ف عملنا ف قال ه

And Ibleesla passed by and seized a child from the lap of a woman and dropped it in the well. So the people of the city gathered, all of them at the door of Lutas. So when they looked at the boys in the house of Lutas, they said, ‘O Lutas! Youas have (also) entered into our deeds’. So heas said: He (Lut) said: ‘Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me’ [15:68] regarding myas guests’. They said, ‘They are three of them, so take one and give us two’.14

VERSES 70 - 74

هك عن العالمني } {70قالوا أومل ن ن They said, ‘Have we not forbidden you from (speaking to) people?’ [15:70]

Abu Abdullahasws having said that: ‘Heasws said: ‘Jibraeelas shouted: ‘O Lutas! Call them to enter the house’. So when they entered, Jibraeelas pointed by hisas finger around them, so their eyesight was lost and it is Hisazwj Words: but We Blinded their eyes [54:37]. Then Jibraeelas called out: ‘Weas have been Sent to destroy you all’. So heas said: ‘O Jibraeelas, hurry up’. So heas said: ‘Their Promised time is the morning. Is not the morning near?’

Heasws said; ‘So he (Jibraeelas) commanded him to carry with him those who were with himas except for hisas wife. Then Jibraeelas, by hisas wings, uprooted from the seventh firmament, then raised it until the inhabitants of the sky heard the barking of

the dogs and the crowing of the roosters. Then heas overturned it, and rained upon it and upon the surrounding areas of the city, stones of clay’.15

{76وإن ها لبسبيل مقيم }And it is on an enduring way [15:76]

منني } لك لية للم {77إن ف ذSurely in that there is a Sign for the Momineen [15:77]

Ahmad Bin Mihran, from Abdul Azeem Bin Abdullah Al Hasany, from Ibn Abu Umeyr who said, ‘Asbat Baya’a Al Zatty informed me saying,

‘I was in the presence of Abu Abdullahasws and a man asked himasws about the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75] And it is on an enduring way [15:76]. So heasws said: ‘Weasws are the distinguishers, and the way endures in usasws’.16

(It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’farasws having said: ‘Amir Al-Momineenasws said: ‘Regarding the Words of the Exalted: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75]. Heasws said: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww is the distinguisher, and Iasws from after himsaww, and the Imamsasws from myasws offspring are the distinguishers’. 19

قال قلت اصلحك اهلل فحني اجابم بذا الواب يعرفهم المام قال سبحان اهلل اما تسمع قول اهلل تعال ف كتابه ان ف ذلك ليات للمتوسني وهم الئمة واهنا لبسبيل مقيم ل يرج منها ابدا

I said, ‘May Allahazwj Keep youasws well. When youasws answered that person with this answer, did youasws know him?’ Heasws said: ‘Glory be to Allahazwj, have you not heard the Words of Allahazwj in Hisazwj Book: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75]? And theyasws are the Imamsasws, and theyasws are with the Way, not coming out of it, ever’.

مث قال نعم ان المام إذا نظر إل رجل عرفه وعرف لونه وان سع كلمه من خلف حايط عرفه وعرف ما هو لن اهلل يقول ومن آياته خلق السموات والرض واختلف السنتكم والوانكم ان ف ذلك ليات للعاملني فهم العلماء وليس يسمع شيئا من النس

بالذى جييبهم به. ال عرفه ناج أو هالك فلذلك جييبهم

Then heasws said: ‘Yes, the Imamasws, if heasws looks at a man, heasws recognises him even if heasws hears his speech from behind a wall. Heasws recognises him, and recognises what he is, because Allahazwj Says: And from His Signs is the Creation

of the skies and the earth and the diversity of your tongues and your colours. Surely in that are Signs for the learned [30:22], for theyasws are the knowledgeable ones, and theyasws do not listen to anything from the humans, but theyasws recognise whether he is a rescued one or a perished one. That is the reason why heasws answers them by what heasws answers them with’.20

It has been narrated to me Al-Sandy Bin Al-Rabi’e, from Al-Hassan Bin Ali Bin Fazla, from Ali Bin Ra’ib, from Abu Bakr Al-Hazramy, who has said:

Abu Ja’farasws has said: ‘There is no creature except that between his eyes is written whether he is a Momin or a Kafir, and that is veiled from you all, but it is not veiled from the Imamsasws from the Progenyasws of Muhammadsaww. No one comes to themasws but theyasws recognise whether he is a Momin or a Kafir’. Then heasws recited this Verse: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75]. Theyasws are the distinguishing onesasws’.21

منني عليه السلم ف مسجد حدثنا ابراهيم بن هاشم عن عمرو بن شر عن جابر عن اىب جعفر عليه السلم قال بينا امر املالكوفة إذ جائت امرأة تستعدى على زوجها فقلت لزوجها عليها فغضبت فقالت واهلل ما احلق فيما قضيت وما تقضى بالسوية

باملرضية ولتعدل ف الرعية ولقضيتك عند اهلل

It has been narrated to us by Ibrahim Bin Hashaam, from Amro Bin Shimr, from Jabir, who has said:

Abu Ja’farasws says that ‘Amir-ul-Momineenasws was explaining (something) in the Mosque of Kufa when a woman came up who had antagonised her husband, saying that her husband was angry with her. Heasws told her that her husband was right in being angry with her. She said, ‘By Allahazwj, there is no truth in yourasws judgement, youasws have not judged equitably, nor have youasws done justice among yourasws citizens, and I will drag youasws for Judgement before Allahazwj until I am satisfied’.

فنظر إليها مليا مث قال لا كذبت يا جرية يا بذية يا سلسلع أي الت ل حتبل من حيث حتبل النساء قالت فولت املراة هاربة تولول وتقول ويلى ويلى لقد هتكت يابن اىب طالب عليه السلم سرا كان مستورا

Heasws looked at her carefully, then said to her: ‘You are lying, O audacious, O evil-tongued, O “Salsala” (the one who does not get impregnated from where women get impregnated from). The woman shrieked and ran away, and was saying, ‘Woe is unto me, woe is unto me, the sonasws of Abu Talibasws has violated my secret which had remained covered’.

قال فلحقها عمرو بن حرث فقال لا يا امة لقد استقبلت عليا عليه السلم بكلم سررتين مث انه نزعك بكلمة فوليت عنه هاربة تولولني قال ان عليا عليه السلم واهلل اخبين باحلق وبا اكتمه من زوجي منذ ول عصميت ومن ابوى

Amro Bin Haris ran after her and said to her, ‘O mother, you have confronted Aliasws with words that have made me happy, then heasws removed you with words, due to which you invoked woe upon yourself, and ran away shrieking’. She said, ‘Aliasws informed me with the truth which I had kept concealed from my husband since he became the guardian of my protection, and from my father’.

منني عليه السلم فاخبه با قالت له املرأة وقال له فبما تقول ما نعرفك بالكهانة قال له يا عمرو ويلك فرجع عمرو إل امر املمن ام اهنا ليست بالكهانة شئ ولكن اهلل خلق الرواح قبل البدان بالفى عام فلما ركب الرواح ف ابداهنا كتب بني اعينهم م

تلون وماهم عليه من سئ من اعمالم و حسنه وىف قدر اذن الفارة كافر وما هم به مب

Amro returned to Amir-Al-Momineenasws. He informed himasws of what the woman had said to him, and he said to himasws, ‘By what did you speak, by fortune-telling?’ Heasws said to him: ‘Woe be unto you, O Amro, it was not a thing by fortune-telling, but, Allahazwj Created the spirits before the bodies by two thousand years. When Heazwj Mounted the spirits into their bodies, Heazwj Wrote between their eyes whether he was a believer or an infidel, and what they will be plagued by it, and what they will have to them from evil of their deeds and good, even smaller than a rat’s ear.

مث انزل بذلك قرانا على نبيه فقال ان ف ذلك ليات للمتوسني وكان رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله هو املتوسم مث انا من بعده والئمة من ذرييت من بعدى هم املتوسون فلما تأملتها عرفت ما عليها بسيماها.

Then Heazwj Sent down with that the Quran upon Hisazwj Prophetsaww: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75], and Rasool-Allahsaww was the distinguisher, then Iasws am from after himsaww, and the Imamsasws from myasws progenyasws from after measws, theyasws are the distinguishers. When Iasws contemplated on her, Iasws distinguished what it was with her by her mark’.22

حدثنا احد بن احلسني عن احد بن ابراهيم عن احلسن بن البا عن على بن حسان عن عبد الكرمي يعن ابن كثر قال حججت مع اىب عبد اهلل عليه السلم فلما صرنا ف بعض الطريق صعد على جبل فاشرف فنظر إل الناس فقال ما اكثر الضجيح واقل

اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله هل يستجيب اهلل دعاء هذا المع الذى ارى احلجيج فقال له داود الرقى يابن رسول

It has been narrated to us by Ahmad Bin Al-Husayn, from Ahmad Bin Ibrahim, from Al-Hassan Bin Al-Baraa, from Ali Bin Hasaan, from Abdul Kareem, meaning Ibn Kaseer who said:

‘I performed a Hajj with Abu Abdullahasws, when we were in one of the roads, heasws climbed on the mountain and surveyed and looked at the people. Heasws said: ‘There is more noise than there are pilgrims. Dawood Al-Raqy said to himasws: ‘O son of Rasool-Allahsaww, will Allahazwj Answer the supplication of this gathering which I see?’

Heasws said: ‘Woe be unto you O Abu Suleiman. Allahazwj does not Forgive the ones who associated partners with Himazwj. The opponent of the Wilayah of Aliasws is like an idol worshipper’.

من أو قال قلت جعلت فداك هل تعرفون مبكم ومبغضكم قال وحيك يابا سليمان انه ليس من عبد يولد ال كتب بني عينيه ممن أو كافر وقال اهلل عزوجل ان ف ذلك ليات كافر ان الرجل ليدخل الينا بوليتنا وبالبائة من اعدائنا فرتى مكتوبا بني عينيه م

عدونا من ولينا. للمتوسني نعرف

I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for youasws, are youasws recognising the ones who love youasws and those who hate youasws?’ Heasws said: ‘Woe be unto you, O Abu Suleiman. There is no servant who is born, but it is written between his eyes ‘Momin’, or ‘Kafir’. The man, weasws let him come to usasws with ourasws Wilayah and keep away from ourasws enemies, for weasws see the writing between his eyes ‘Momin’, or ‘Kafir’, and Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic has Said regarding that: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75]. Weasws recognise ourasws enemies from ourasws friends’.23

أحد بن علي النصاري، ابن بابويه، قال: حدثنا تيم بن عبد اهلل بن تيم القرشي )رضي اهلل عنه ، قال: حدثنا أب، قال: حدثينعن احلسن بن الهم، قال: حضرت ملس املأمون يوما و عنده علي بن موسى الرضا )عليه السلم و قد اجتمع الفقهاء، و

بالنص و »ء تصح المامة ملدعيها؟ قال: ة، فسأله بعضهم، فقال له: يا ابن رسول اهلل، بأي شيأهل الكلم من الفرق املختلف «.الدليل

Ibn Babuwayh said, ‘Tameem Bin Abdullah Bin Tameem Al Qarshy narrated to us, from his father, from Ahmad Bin Al Al Ansary, from Al Hassan Bin Al Jaham who said,

‘I was present at a gathering of Al-Mamoun one day, and in his presence was Aliasws Bin Musa Al-Rezaasws, and there had gathered the jurists, and the theologians from different sects. So one of them asked himasws saying, ‘O sonasws of Rasool-Allahazwj! With what thing is the Imamate correct to what it is being claimed?’ Heasws said: ‘With the link (to Rasool-Allahsaww) and the evidence’.

ذلك بعهد »قال: فما وجه إخباركم با يكون؟ قال: «.ف العلم، و استجابة الدعوة»قال له: فدللة المام فيما هي؟ قال: «.معهود إلينا من رسول اهلل )صلى اهلل عليه و آله

He said to himasws, ‘So the evidence of the Imamasws, what is it with regards to?’ Heasws said: ‘Regarding the Knowledge, and the answering of the supplication’. He said, ‘So what is the aspect do youasws all (Imamsasws get the news of what is going to happen?’ Heasws said: ‘That is with the Covenant which weasws have been Covenanted with from Rasool-Allahsaww’.

He said, ‘So what is the aspect with which youasws get the news of what is in the hearts of the people?’ Heasws said: ‘Has it not the words of Rasool-Allahsaww reached you: ‘Fear the intuition of the Believer, for he looks with the Light of Allahazwj?’ He said, ‘Yes’. Heasws said: ‘So there is none from the Believers except that there is an intuition for him. He looks with the Light of Allahazwj in accordance to the level of his belief, and the extent of his vision, and his knowledge.

ني منني، و قال اهلل تعال ف كتابه العزيز: إن ف ذلك ليات للمت وس فأول املتوسني و قد جع اهلل لألئمة منا ما فرقه ف جيع املمنني )عليه السلم من بعده، مث احلسن و احلسني و الئمة من ولد احلسني )عليهم رسول اهلل )صلى اهلل عليه و آله ، مث أمر امل

«.السلم إل يوم القيامة

And Allahazwj has Gathered for the Imamsasws from usasws what differentiates all of the Believers. And Allahazwj the High Says in Hisazwj Honourable Book: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75]. So the first of the distinguishers is Rasool-Allahsaww, then Amir-ul-Momineenasws from after himsaww, then Al-Hassanasws, and Al-Husaynasws, and the Imamsasws from the sonsasws of Al Husaynasws up to the Day of Judgement’.24

إذا قام قائم آل ممد )عليهم السلم حكم بني الناس حبكم »ق )عليه السلم : ابن الفارسي ف )روضة الواعظني : قال الصادداود )عليه السلم ، ل حيتاج إل بينة، يلهمه اهلل تعال فيحكم بعلمه، و يب كل قوم با استبطنوه، و يعرف وليه من عدوه

ني ا لبسبيل مقيم بالتوسم، قال اهلل تعال: إن ف ذلك ليات للمت وس «. و إهن

Ibn Al Farsy, in (the book) Rowzat Al Waizeen –

‘Al-Sadiqasws said: ‘When the Qaimasws of the Progeny of Muhammadsaww rises, heasws will judge between the people with the Judgment of Dawoodas. Heasws will not be needy to a proof. Allahazwj the Exalted would Inspire himasws, so heasws would be judging by Hisazwj Knowledge, and heasws will inform every people with what they are hiding (in their minds), and heasws would recognise hisasws friend from hisasws foe by distinguishing. Allahazwj the Exalted Says: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75] And it is on an enduring way [15:76]’’.25

Al Sheykh Al Mufeed in the book Al Ikhtisas, from Al Sindy Bin Rabi’e Al Baghdady, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Ibn Fazal, from Ali Bin Garab, from Abu Bakr Bin Muhammad Al Hazry,

‘Abu Ja’farasws, he (the narrator) said, ‘I heard himasws saying: ‘There is none from a creature except between his eyes is written either ‘Momin’ or ‘Kafir’, and that is veiled from you all, and it isn’t veiled from the Imamsasws from the Progenyasws of Muhammadsaww. Then, there doesn’t come anyone to them except theyasws recognise him, whether he is a Momin or a Kafir’. Then heasws recited this Verse: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75]. Thus, theyasws are the distinguishers’’.26

إن ف المام آية للمتوسني، و هو السبيل املقيم، ينظر بنور اهلل و ينطق عن اهلل، »عن أب بصر، عن أب عبد اهلل )عليه السلم : «.ء مما أراد ل يعزب عنه شي

From Abu Baseer,

(It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75], and heasws is the enduring way [15:76]. Heasws looks with the Light of Allahazwj, and speaks from Allahazwj. Nothing is hidden from himasws from what heasws wants’.27

حدثنا أبو علي احد بن حيىي املكتب قال حدثنا احد بن ممد الوراق قال حدثنا بشر بن سعيد بن قلبويه املعدل بالرافقه قال حدثنا عبد البار بن كثر التميمي اليماين قال سعت ممد بن حرب الليل أمر املدينة يقول: سألت جعفر بن ممد " ع "

فسي مسألة أريد ان اسألك عنها فقال: ان شئت أخبتك بسألتك قبل أن تسألين وان شئت فقلت له يابن رسول اهلل ف ن فسل،

Abu Ali Ahmad Bin Yahya Al Maktab narrated to us, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Al Waraq, from Bishr Bin Saeed Bin Qalbawayh, the revisionist at Rafaqa, from Abdul Jabbar Bin Kaseer Al Tameemi who said, ‘I heard Muhammad Bin Al Hilali, the Emir of Al Medina saying,

‘I asked Ja’farasws Bin Muhammadasws, ‘O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww! I have within myself, a certain question which I want to ask you about’. So heasws said; ‘If you like Iasws would inform you of your questions before you even ask measws , and if you so like, then ask’.

I said, ‘O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww! And by which thing do youasws recognise what is within myself before I even ask youasws ?’ Heasws said: ‘By expectation and insight. Have you not heard the Words of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic: Surely, in that are Signs for the distinguishers [15:75], and the words of Rasool-Allahsaww: ‘Fear the

insight of a Momin for he looks by the Light of Allahazwj?’ I said, ‘O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww, so inform me regarding my questions’.

قال: أردت ان تسألين عن رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله مل مل يطق حله علي " ع " عند حط الصنام من سطح الكعبة مع قوته وشدته وما ظهر منه ف قلع باب القموص بيب والرمي به إل ورائه اربعني ذراعا وكان ل يطيق حله اربعون رجل وقد كان

يركب الناقة والفرس واحلمار، وركب الباق ليلة املعراج وكل ذلك دون علي ف القوة والشدة، قال: رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله فقلت له عن هذا واهلل اردت ان اسألك يابن رسول اهلل فاخبين

Heasws said: ‘You intend to ask me about Rasool-Allahsaww as to why did hesaww carry Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws to bring down the idols from the surface of the Kabah, when heasws had the strength and the intensity which heasws displayed when heasws ripped off the door of the fort of Khaybar and threw it behind him to a distance of forty cubits, and it was not being carried by forty men, and Rasool-Allahsaww had ridden upon the camel, and the horse, and the mule, and rode upon Al-Buraaq on the night of the Ascension (المعراج), and all that was lower than Aliasws in strength and intensity?’ I said, ‘By Allahazwj, this is what I intended to ask youasws, O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww, so inform me’.

نار الشرك وابطل كل معبود من دون اهلل عزوجل فقال: ان عليا عليه السلم برسول اهلل تشرف وبه ارتفع وبه وصل إل ان اطفأ ولو عله النيب صلى اهلل عليه وآله حلط الصنام لكان عليه السلم بعلي مرتفعا وتشريفا وواصل إل حط الصنام ولو كان ذلك

فت وارتفعت حت لو كذلك لكان أفضل منه أل ترى ان عليا عليه السلم قال: ملا علوت ظهر رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله شر شئت ان انال السماء لنلتها

So heasws said: ‘Aliasws had nobility with Rasool-Allahsaww, and by it heasws was raised to extinguish the fire of Polytheism, and invalidate every worshipped one besides Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic. And had the Prophetsaww been raised for the bringing down of the idols, it would have been by Aliasws that hesaww would have been raised, and been ennobled, and arrived to the bringing down of the idols. And that was like that, heasws would have been higher than himsaww. Have you not seen that Aliasws said: ‘When Iasws was raised upon the shoulders of Rasool-Allahsaww, Iasws was ennobled and raised to the extent that if Iasws had so desire to, Iasws would have touched the sky.

أما علمت ان املصباح هو الذي يهتدى به ف الظلمة وانبعاث فرعه من أصله، وقد قال علي عليه السلم أنا من احد كالضوء من الضوء،

But, do you know that the Lantern it which guides in the darkness, and its emission is a branch of the original source. And Aliasws said: ‘Iasws am from Ahmadsaww like the Illumination is from the illumination’.

أما علمت ان ممدا وعليا صلوات اهلل عليهما كانا نورا بني يدي اهلل عزوجل قبل خلق اللق بألفي عام وان امللئكة ملا رأت نا ماهذا النور؟ فأوحى اهلل تبارك وتعال إليهم هذا نور من ذلك النور رأت له اصل قد تشعب منه شعاع لمع فقالت: إلنا وسيد

نوري أصله نبوة وفرعه إمامة، أما النبوة فلمحمد عبدي ورسويل واما المامة فلعلي حجيت وولىي ولولمها ما خلقت خلقي،

But, do you know that Muhammadsaww and Aliasws were two Lights in front of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic before the Creation of the creatures, by two thousand years, and that the Angels, when they saw that Light, saw it as original from which was radiating a blinding radiance, so they said: ‘Our Allahazwj, and our Masterazwj! What is this Light?’ So Allahazwj Blessed and High Revealed unto them: “This is a Light from Myazwj Light. Its root is Prophet-hood and its branch is Imamate. As for the Prophet-hood, so it is for Muhammadsaww, Myazwj servant, and Myazwj Rasoolsaww. And as for the Imamate, so it is for Aliasws, Myazwj Proof, and Myazwj Guardian. And had it not been for these twoasws, Iazwj would not have Created Myazwj creation”.

اما علمت ان رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله رفع يد علي " ع " بغدير خم حت نظر الناس إل بياض إبطيهما فجعله مول سلمني وإمامهمامل

But do you know that Rasool-Allahsaww raised the hand of Aliasws at Ghadeer Khumm, to the extent that the people looked at the whiteness of hisasws two arms. So heasws was made to be a Master of the Muslims and their Imamasws.

سن واحلسني عليهما السلم يوم حظرة بين النجار فلما قال له بعض أصحابه ناولين احدمها يارسول اهلل قال: نعم وقد احتمل احل الراكبان وابومها خر منهما،

And hesaww had carried Al-Hassanasws and Al-Husaynasws on the day of Hazeera of the Clan of Najjar. So when one of hissaww companions said, ‘Let me carry oneasws of themasws, O Rasool-Allahsaww’, hesaww said: ‘These twoasws are the best of the riders and the fatherasws of these twoasws is better than these twoasws’.

ه فلما سلم قيل له يارسول اهلل لقد اطلت هذه السجدة وانه صلى اهلل عليه وآله كان يصلي باصحابه فاطال سجدة من سجداتفقال صلى اهلل عليه وآله ان ابين ارحتلين فكرهت ان اعاجله حيت ينزل، وإنا أراد بذلك صلى اهلل عليه وآله رفعهم وتشريفهم

قال النبوة. فالنيب صلى اهلل عليه وآله إمام ونيب وعلي " ع " إمام ليس بنيب ول رسول فهو غر مطيق حلمل اث

And hesaww was Praying with hisas companions, so hesaww prolonged a Prostration from hissaww Prostrations. So when hesaww greeted (at the end of the Prayers), it was said to himas, ‘O Rasool-Allahsaww! Yousaww have prolonged this Prostration’. So hesaww said: ‘Mysaww two sonasws were riding upon mesaww, so Isaww disliked that Iasws should hasten themasws, until theyasws descended (by themselves)’. But rather, what hesaww intended by that was to raise themasws, and theirasws nobility. So the Prophetsaww was an Imamasws and a Prophetsaww, and Aliasws was an Imamasws and neither a Prophetas nor a Rasoolas.

قال ممد بن حرب الليل: فقلت له زدىن يابن رسول اهلل فقال إنك لهل للزيادة

Muhammad Bin Harb Al-Hilaly said, ‘So I said to himasws, ‘O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww! Increase it for me’. So heasws said: ‘You are indeed deserving of the increase’.

صلى اهلل عليه وآله حل عليا عليه السلم على ظهره يريد بذلك أنه أبو ولده وإمام الئمة من صلبه كما حول ردائه ان رسول اهلل ف صلة الستسقاء واراد ان يعلم أصحابه بذلك انه قد حتول الدب خصبا،

Rasool-Allahsaww carried Aliasws upon hissaww shoulders, intending by that, that heasws was the fatherasws of hissaww (grand) sons, and an Imamasws from the Imamsasws from hisasws back, just as overturning of hissaww cloak during the Prayer of Al-Istiqsa’a (the rain), it is intended by that it be known by hissaww companions, that hesaww had overturned the famine’.

قال: قلت له زدىن يابن رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله

He (the narrator) said, ‘I said to himasws, ‘Increase it for me, O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww’.

انه هو الذي يفف عن ظهر رسول اهلل صلى فقال: احتمل رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله عليا " ع " يريد بذلك ان يعلم قومه اهلل عليه وآله ما عليه من الدين والعدات والداء عنه من بعده،

So heasws said: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww carried Aliasws, intending by that to let hissaww people know that heasws would lighten from the shoulders of Rasool-Allahsaww, what is upon himsaww from the debts and the fulfilment of the promised made, from after himsaww’.

قال: فقلت له يابن رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله زدين

He (the narrator) said, ‘I said to him asws, ‘O son asws of Rasool-Allahsaww, Increase it for me’.

فقال: احتمله ليعلم بذلك انه قد احتمله وما حل إل لنه معصوم ل حيمل وزرا فتكون افعاله عند الناس حكمة وصوابا وقد قال النيب صلى اهلل عليه وآله لعلي يا علي ان اهلل تبارك وتعال حلين ذنوب شيعتك مث غفرها يل وذلك قوله تعال )ليغفر لك ما تقدم

من ذنبك وما تأخر

So heasws said: ‘Hesaww carried himasws, to it would be known by that hesaww has carried himasws, and has not carried except that heasws was Infallible (sinless), and hesaww has not carried a burden, so that hisasws action would become one of wisdom, and correct. And the Prophetsaww had said to Aliasws: ‘O Aliasws! Allahazwj Blessed and High Loaded mesaww with the sins of yourasws Shiah, then Forgave them for mesaww, and these are the Words of the Exalted: For Allah to Forgive you what has preceded from your sins and what is delayed [48:2].

وملا أنزل اهلل عزوجل إذا اهتديتم وعلي نفسي وأخى اطيعوا عليا فإنه مطهر معصوم ل يضل ول يشقى مث تل هذه الية: )قل البل املبني .أطيعو اهلل واطيعوا الرسول فإن تولوا فإنا عليه ما حل وعليكم ما حلتم وان تطيعوه تتدوا وما على الرسول إل

And when Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Revealed: when you are guided to the right way [5:105], and Aliasws is mysaww own self, and mysaww brother. Obey Aliasws, for heasws is Purified, Infallible, neither does heasws stray nor does heasws have a

parallel’. Then hesaww recited this Verse: Say: ‘Obey Allah and obey the Rasool; but if you turn back, so rather upon him is what is Imposed on him and upon you is what is Imposed on you. And if you were to obey him, you would be rightly Guided, and it is not upon the Rasool except for the clear delivery (of the Message)’ [24:54]’.

قال ممد بن حرب الليل: مث قال جعفر بن ممد " ع " أيها المر لو اخبتك با ف حل النيب صلى اهلل عليه وآله عليا عند لقلت ان جعفر بن ممد جملنون فحسبك من ذلك ما قد سعتحط الصنام من سطح الكعبة من املعاين اليت أرادها به

Muhammad Bin Harb Al-Hilaly said, ‘Then Ja’farasws Bin Muhammadasws said: ‘O you Emir! If Iasws were to inform you with what (all) the intended meanings were with regards to the Prophetsaww carrying Aliasws during the bringing down of the idols from the roof of the Kabah, you would say that Ja’farasws Bin Muhammadasws is insane. Therefore, let it suffice, what you have heard’.

فقمت إليه وقبلت رأسه وقلت اهلل أعلم حيث جيعل رسالته.

So he stood up and kissed hisasws forehead and said, Allah is more Knowing of where to Place His Message [6:124]’.28

VERSES 78 - 84

{78وإن كان أصحاب اليكة لظالمني }And the dwellers of the thicket used to be unjust [15:78]

هم وإن هما ل {79بإمام مبني }فان ت قمنا من So We Took Revenge from them, and they were both upon a clear highway [15:79]

ب أصحاب احلجر المرسلني {80} ولقد كذAnd the dwellers of the Rock belied the Rasools [15:80]

ها ناهم آياتنا فكانوا عن {81معرضني } وآت ي And We Gave them Our Signs, but they used to turn away from them [15:81]

Ibn Babuwayh said, ‘Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Bin Is’haq Al-Talaqany narrated to us, from Hafs Umar Bin Yusuf Bin Sulayman Bin Al-Ryan, from Al-Qasim Bin Ibrahim Al-Raqy, from Muhammad Bin Ahmad Bin Mahdy Al-Rqay, from Abdul Razaaq, from Moaman, from Al-Zuhry, from Anas who said,

‘Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘Shuaybas cried from the love of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic until he was blinded. So Allahazwj Returned his eyesight. Then heas cried until heas was blinded. So Allahazwj Returned hisas eyesight. Then heas cried until heas was blinded. So Allahazwj Returned hisas eyesight. But when heas was in the fourth time, Allahazwj Revealed unto himas: “O Shuaybas! Until when will this be happening from youas? If this is happening out of fear from the Fire, so Iazwj have Requited youas, and if this is from the desire for the Paradise, so Iazwj have Endowed it to youas”.

فقال: إلي، و سيدي، أنت تعلم أين ما بكيت خوفا من نارك، و ل شوقا إل جنتك، و لكن عقد حبك على قليب، فلست «.موسى بن عمران ذا سأخدمك كليميأصب إذ ذاك، فأوحى اهلل جل جلله إليه: أما إذا كان هذا هكذا، فمن أجل ه

Heas said: ‘Myas God, and myas Master! Youazwj Know that Ias am not crying out of fear from Yourazwj Fire, nor out of desire to be in Yourazwj Paradise, but Ias contracted Yourazwj love upon myas heart. Thus, Ias have no patience upon that’. So Allahazwj, Majestic is Hisazwj Majesty Said: “But if this is so, for this Iazwj would Make Myazwj Speaker Musaas Bin Imranas to serve youas’.29

(It has been narrated) from Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws having said: ‘The first one to fulfil the measure and the weight was the Prophet Shuaybas. Heas used to measure out with hisas own hands, and heas used to fulfil the measurement. Till then, they (The Dwellers of the Thicket) used to cheat in the measure and be deficient in the weighing. So they were Seized by the tremor, and they were Punished by it, and in the morning they were crouching in their houses’.30

And We did not Create the skies and the earth and what is between them except with the Truth. And surely the House would come, therefore pardon with the beautiful pardoning [15:85]

عا من المثاين والقرآن العظيم } ناك سب {87ولقد آت ي And We have Given you seven from Al-Masaany and the Magnificent Quran [15:87]

The apparent meaning – Seven Oft-repeated Verses

منني ع و قال احلسن ]بن علي آية من فاحتة الكتاب، و هي سبع آيات « بسم الله الرحن الرحيم » و إن [ ع: قال أمر الم . تامها بسم الله الرحن الرحيم

And Al-Hassanasws Bin Aliasws said: ‘Amir Al-Momineenasws said: ‘And ‘In the Name of

Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful ( بسم الله الرحن الرحيم)’ is a Verse from the Opening of

the Book (Surah Al-Hamd), and it is of seven Verses, complete with ‘In the Name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful’.

In Tafseer Ayyashi from Yunus Bin Abdul Rahman from the one with an unbroken chain who said:

‘I asked Abu Abdullahasws about the Words of Allahazwj And We have Given you seven from Al Masaany and the Magnificent Quran [15:87], heasws said: ‘It is the Chapter of Al-Hamd and it contains seven Verses including In the Name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful [1:1] ( الرحيم الرحمن هللا بسم ), and it is called ‘Masany’ because it is (recited) twice (doubled up) in the two cycles (of Salat)’.34

‘I asked Abu Abdullahasws about the seven ‘Masaany’ and the Magnificent Quran, is it the Opening of the Book?’ Heasws said: ‘Yes’. I said, ‘In the Name of Allahazwj, the Beneficent, the Merciful, is from the seven?’ Heasws said: ‘Yes, it is the best of them’.35

From Abu Bakr Al Hazramy,

‘From Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Whenever there was a need for you, then recite ‘Al-Masaany’ and another Chapter, and pray two Cycles of Salat and supplicate to Allahazwj’.

I said, ‘May Allahazwj Keep youasws well! And what is ‘Al-Masaany’?’ Heasws said: ‘Opening of the Book – In the Name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful [1:1] The Praise is for Allah, Lord of the Worlds [1:2]’’.36

The Esoteric Meaning – Imamsasws

ثاين و لقد آت يناك سبعا من الم عن يونس بن عبد الرحن، عمن ذكره، رفعه، قال: سألت أبا عبد اهلل )عليه السلم عن قول اهلل: «.إن ظاهرها احلمد، و باطنها ولد الولد، و السابع منها القائم )عليه السلم »و القرآن العظيم، قال:

From Yunus Bin Abdul Rahman, from the one who mentioned it, raising it, said,

‘I asked Abu Abdullahasws about the Words of Allahazwj: And We have Given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the Magnificent Quran [15:87]. Heasws said: ‘Its apparent is ‘Al-Hamd’ (Chapter 1), and its esoteric is a sonasws of the sonasws, and the seventh from himasws is Al-Qaimasws’.37

(It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’farasws having said: ‘Weasws are the Al-Masany which Allahazwj Gave to ourasws Prophetsaww, and weasws are the Face of Allahazwj. Weasws move in the earth in your full view, and weasws are the Eyes of Allahazwj among Hisazwj creatures, and Hisazwj Hand Extended with the Mercy upon Hisazwj servants. The one who recognised usasws has recognised usasws, and the one who is ignorant of usasws is ignorant of usasws, and weasws are the Imamsasws of the Pious’.38

Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘Ahmad Bin Idrees informed us, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Sowrat Bin Kaleyb,

‘From Abu Ja’farasws having said: ‘Weasws the Al-Masaany which Allahazwj Gave to our Prophetsaww, and weasws are the Face of Allahazwj the Exalted. Weasws move in the earth in your full view. One who recognised usasws, so in front of him is the conviction, and one who is ignorant of usasws, so in front of him is the Blazing Fire’’.39

Al Hasaan Al Amiry said,

‘I asked Abu Ja’farasws about the Words of Allahazwj: And We have Given you seven from Al-Masaany and the Magnificent Quran [15:87]. Heasws said: ‘It’s Revelation (Meaning) isn’t like this. But rather it is: And We have Given you seven from Al-Masaany, and weasws are themasws, and the Magnificent Quran [15:87], sonasws of the sonasws’’.40

VERSE 88

ن منني ل تد هم ول حتزن عليهم واخفض جناحك للم عنا به أزواجا من ن يك إل ما مت عي {88}

Do not extend your eyes to what We have Provided with two categories from them, nor grieve upon them, and lower your wings towards the Momineen [15:88]

Ali Bin Ibrahim said, ‘Ahmad Bin Idrees informed us, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Al Mufazzal Bin Umar,

(It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘When this Verse was Revealed: Do not extend your eyes to what We have Provided with two categories from them, nor grieve upon them, and lower your wings towards the Momineen [15:88], Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘The one who was not consoled by the Consolation of Allahazwj would cut himself off from the world in regret; and one who casts his eyes to what is in the hands of someone else would multiply his worries, and his anger would not be healed.

و من مل يعلم أن هلل عليه نعمة، ل ف مطعم و ل ف مشرب و ل ف ملبس، فقد قصر عمله و دنا عذابه، و من أصبح على الدنيا حزينا أصبح على اهلل ساخطا، و من شكا مصيبة نزلت به فإنا يشكو ربه،

And one who does not know that Allahazwj has Favoured him, neither in the food, nor in the drinks, nor in the clothing, so he would fall short in his deeds and approach his Punishment. And one who becomes aggrieved upon the world, would become Angered with by Allahazwj. And the one who complains about the difficulties which descend upon him, so he has complained about his Lordazwj.

و من دخل النار من هذه المة ممن قرأ القرآن فهو ممن يتخذ آيات اهلل هزوا، و من أتى ذا ميسرة فتخشع له طلبا ملا ف يديه ه. ذهب ثلثا دين

And one who enters the Fire from these communities, from the ones who recite the Quran, so he is from the ones who take the Signs of Allahazwj in jest. And one who comes to the one with the facilities, and submits his need to him for what is in his hands, a third of his Religion would go away’.41

VERSES 89 - 93

{89وقل إين أنا النذير المبني }And say: ‘Surely I am the clear Warner’ [15:89]

{90كما أن زلنا على المقتسمني }Like what We Sent to the dividers [15:90]

{91جعلوا القرآن عضني } الذين Those who made the Quran to be parts [15:91]

{92ف وربك لنسألن هم أجعني }So, by your Lord! We will be Questioning them altogether [15:92]

Al Ayyashi, from Muhammad Bin Muslim,

(It has been narrated) from one of themasws (5th or 6th Imamasws), having said regarding: Those who made the Quran to be parts [15:91]. Heasws said: ‘They were Quraysh’.42

Ibn Babuwayh said, ‘Muhammad Bin Al Hassan narrated to us, from Sa’ad Bin Abdullah, and Muhammad Bin Al Hassan Al Saffar altogether, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn Bin Abu Al Khataab and Muhammad Bin Isa Bin Ubeyd, from Safwas Bin Yahya, from Abdullah Bin Muskaan, from Muhammad Bin Ali Al Halby,

and Khadijaasws were with himsaww. Then Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Commanded himsaww that hesaww should proclaim what hesaww had been Commanded with. So Rasool-Allahsaww declared himselfsaww and hissaww matter’.44

‘From Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Rasool-Allahsaww concealed (hissaww matter) at Makkah for years, not manifesting it, and (although) Aliasws was with himsaww and (so was) Khadijaasws. Then Allahazwj Commanded himsaww that hesaww should proclaim with what hesaww had been Commanded with.

«. فظهر رسول اهلل )صلى اهلل عليه و آله ، فجعل يعرض نفسه على قبائل العرب، فإذا أتاهم، قالوا: كذاب، امض عنا

So Rasool-Allahsaww manifested (Al-Islam) and turned himselfsaww away from the Arab tribes. So whenever hesaww used to come to them, they were saying, ‘Liar! (Allahazwj Forbid) Go away from us!’’.45

و عنه، قال: حدثنا أحد بن احلسن القطان، قال: حدثنا أبو القاسم عبد الرحن بن ممد احلسيين، قال: حدثنا أبو العباس ممد عيد سهل بن صاحل العباسي، عن أبيه و إبراهيم بن عبد الرحن الملي ، قال: حدثنا بن علي الراساين، قال: حدثنا أبو س

‘Amir-Al-Momineenasws said to a Jew from the Jews of Syria and their Rabbis, and heasws had informed him regarding what heasws answered him from the answers to his questions: ‘And as for the scoffers, so Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Said: We will Suffice you against the scoffers [15:95].

فقتل اهلل مخستهم، قد قتل كل واحد منهم بغر قتلة صاحبه ف يوم واحد أما الوليد بن املغرة، فإنه مر بنبل لرجل من بين خزاعة أصابته شظية منه فانقطع أكحله حت أدماه، فمات و هو يقول: قتلين رب ممدقد راشه ف الطريق، ف

Allahazwj killed five of them. Each one of them was killed without having killed his attacker, in one day. As for Al-Waleed Bin Al-Mugheira, so he passed proudly by a man from the Clan of Khaza’at on the road, and he was hit by him with a fragment from the middle of the armour until he bled. So he died, and he was saying, ‘It was the Lordazwj of Muhammadsaww Who killed me!’

حتته حجر، فسقط فتقطع قطعة قطعة، فمات و هو و أما العاص بن وائل السهمي، فإنه خرج ف حاجة له إل كداء، فتدهده يقول: قتلين رب ممد

And as for Al-Aas Al-Wa’ily Bin Wa’il Al Sahmy, so he went out for a need of his to a mountain. He was crushed under a rock, and he was cut down into pieces and pieces. So he died, and he was saying: ‘It was the Lordazwj of Muhammadsaww who killed me!’

و أما السود بن عبد يغوث، فإنه خرج يستقبل ابنه زمعة، و معه غلم له، فاستظل بشجرة حتت كداء، فأتاه جبئيل )عليه شيئا إل نفسك. فقتله و هو امنع عين هذا فقال: ما أرى أحدا يصنع بك السلم ، فأخذ رأسه فنطح به الشجرة، فقال لغلمه:

«.يقول: قتلين رب ممد

And as for Al-Sawad Bin Abd Yagous, so he was received by his son Zam’at, and with him was a young boy of his, and he took to a shade of a tree under a mountain. Jibraeelas came to him, seized his head and butted it against the tree. He said to his boy, ‘Prevent this from me!’ So he said, ‘I have not seen anyone do anything with you, except that it was yourself’. So he was killed, and he was saying, ‘It was the Lordazwj of Muhammadsaww Who killed me’.

احلارث بن الطلطلة، فإنه خرج من بيته ف السموم، فتحول حبشيا، فرجع إل أهله، فقال: أنا احلارث. فغضبوا عليه و و أما » قتلوه، و هو يقول: قتلين رب ممد

And as for Al-Haaris Bin Al-Talaatalat, so he went out from his house during the season (of Hajj), so he changed into (to look like) an Ethiopian. He returned back to his family and said, ‘I am Haaris!’ So they were angered against him and killed him, and he was saying, ‘It was the Lordazwj of Muhammadsaww Who killed me’.

فأصابه غلبة العطش، فلم يزل يشرب املاء حت انشق بطنه فمات، و هو يقول: و أما السود بن املطلب، فإنه أكل حوتا ماحلا، قتلين رب ممد.

And as for Al-Aswad Bin Al-Matlab, so he ate a salty fish and was overcome with thirst. He did not stop drinking the water until his belly burst, so he died, and he was saying, ‘It was the Lordazwj of Muhammadsaww Who killed me’.

و كل ذلك ف ساعة واحدة، و ذلك اهنم كانوا بني يدي رسول اهلل )صلى اهلل عليه و آله ، فقالوا له: يا ممد، ننتظر بك إل الظهر، فإن رجعت عن قولك و إل قتلناك.

And all that was at one time, and that was when they were in front of Rasool-Allahsaww, so they said to himsaww, ‘O Muhammadsaww! We will respite yousaww until midday, so if yousaww were to retract from yoursaww words, fine, otherwise we will kill yousaww’.

فأغلق عليه بابه مغتما بقولم، فأتاه جبئيل )عليه السلم ساعته، فقال له: يا ممد، فدخل النيب )صلى اهلل عليه و آله منزله،مر يعين أظهر أمرك لهل مكة و ادع، و أعرض عن المشركني. السلم يقرئك السلم، و هو يقول: فاصدع با ت

So the Prophetsaww entered hissaww house, and locked hissaww door against them, saddened by their words, and Jibraeelas came up to himsaww in that moment and said to himsaww: ‘O Muhammadsaww! Allahazwj Conveys Hisazwj Greetings to yousaww, and Heazwj is Saying: So proclaim what you are Commanded with [15:94] - Meaning manifest yoursaww matter to the people of Makkah and Invite, and turn away from the polytheists [15:94].

قال: إنا كفيناك المست هزئني. قال: يا جبئيل، كانوا عندي الساعة بني قال: يا جبئيل، كيف أصنع باملستهزئني و ما أو عدوين؟ «.فقال: قد كفيتهم. فأظهر أمره عند ذلكيدي.

Hesaww said: ‘O Jibraeelas! How shall Isaww react to the scoffers, and what if they are inimical to mesaww?’ Hesaww said: We will Suffice you against the scoffers [15:95]’. Hesaww said: ‘O Jibraeelas! They were in front of mesaww this very hour’. So heas said: ‘Yousaww have been Sufficed from them, therefore manifest yoursaww matter in that (situation)’.46

(It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’farasws the 2nd who said, ‘Abu Abdullahasws said: ‘While myasws fatherasws was performing Tawaaf of the Kabah, when a man covered by a turban of his like an egg-shell, cut off hisasws seven (circuits) until he made himasws enter into a house by the side of Al-Safa. So heasws sent for measws, and we became three.

ه ب عد آبائه يا أبا جعفر إن شئت فأخبين ف قال مرحبا يا ابن رسول الله مث وضع يده على رأسي و قال بارك الله فيك يا أمني الل شئت سلين و إن شئت سألتك و إن شئت فاصدقين و إن شئت صدق تك و إن شئت فأخب رتك و إن

So he said, ‘Welcome, O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww!’ Then he placed his hand upon myasws head and said, ‘May Allahazwj Bless youasws, O trustees of Allahazwj after hisasws forefathersasws! O Abu Ja’farasws! If youasws so desire, so inform me and if youasws so desire, so I shall inform youasws, and if youasws so desire, ask me, and if youasws so desire, I shall ask youasws, and if youasws so desire, ratify me, and if youasws so desire, I shall ratify youasws’.

ره قال إ ا ي فعل ذلك من ف ق لبه علمان يالف قال كل ذلك أشاء قال فإياك أن ي نطق لسانك عند مسأليت بأمر تضمر يل غي ن ه و إن الله عز و جل أىب أن يكون له علم فيه اختلف أحدمها صاحب

Heasws said: ‘All of that Iasws like’. He said, ‘So beware of speaking by your tongue during my questioning by a matter with something else in yourasws consciousness’. Heasws said: ‘But rather that is the one in whose heart are two knowledges, one of it opposing its counterpart, and that Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Refused that there should be a Knowledge for Himazwj wherein is a differing’.

ها أخبين عن هذا العلم الذي ليس فيه اختلف من ي علمه قال أما جل قال هذه مسأليت و قد رت طرفا من ة العلم فعند الله فس جل ذكره و أما ما ل بد للعباد منه فعند الوصياء

He said, ‘This is my question, and you have explained part of it. Inform me about this knowledge which there is no differing in it. Who knows it?’ Heasws said: ‘But, the totality of the knowledge, so it is with Allahazwj, Majestic is Hisazwj Mention, and as for what is a must for the servants from it, so it is with the successorsasws’.

عمت أن علم ما ل اختلف فيه من قال ف فتح الرجل عجرته و است وى جالسا و ت هلل وجهه و قال هذه أردت و لا أت يت ز ي رون ما كان رسول الله ) الوصياء فكيف ي علمونه قال كما كان رسول الله ) صلى اهلل عليه وآله ي علمه إل أن هم ل العلم عند

ثون و أنه كان يفد إل الله عز و جل ف يسمع الوحي و هم ل يسمعون صلى اهلل عليه وآله ي رى لنه كان نبيا و هم مد

Heasws said: ‘So the man opened up his turban and sat evenly (relaxed manner), and his face was cheerful, and he said, ‘This is what I wanted, and for it I came over. Youasws claim that knowledge is what there is no differing therein, from the knowledge with the succesorsasws, so how do they know it?’ Heasws said: ‘Just as how Rasool-Allahsaww used to know it except that theyasws are not seeing what Rasool-Allahsaww used to see, because hesaww was a Prophetsaww, and theyasws are Muhaddisoun, and it was so that heasws would be a delegate to Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic and hesaww would hear the Revelation, and theyasws are not hearing’.

You speak the truth, O sonasws of Rasool-Allahsaww! I shall come to you with a difficult question. Inform me about this knowledge. What is the matter with it that it is not apparent (now) just as it was apparent with Rasool-Allahsaww?’ So myasws fatherasws smiled and said: ‘Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Refuses that anyone should have notification of Hisazwj Knowledge except for the one examined for the Eman with it, just as Heazwj Ordained upon Rasool-Allahsaww that hesaww be patient upon the harm of hissaww people, and hesaww should not fight against them except by Hisazwj Command.

مر و أعرض عن المشركني و امي الله فكم م أن لو صدع ق بل ذلك لكان آمنا و ن اكتتام قد اكتتم به حت قيل له فاصدع با ت ا نظر ف الطاعة و خاف اللف فلذلك كف لكنه إن

So how much from the secrets hesaww was secretive with until it was said to himsaww, So proclaim what you are Commanded with and turn away from the polytheists [15:94]. And I swear by Allahazwj that had hesaww proclaimed openly before that, hesaww would (still) have been safe, but hesaww, rather, considered to be in the obedience and feared the differing (of people). Therefore, due to that, hesaww restrained.

So, Iasws would love it if your eyes happen to be with the Mahdiasws of this community, and the Angels with the swords of the family of Dawoodas, between the sky and the earth, Punishing the souls of the disbelievers from the deceased and join with them the souls of their likes from the living ones’. Then heasws brought out a sword, then said: ‘Here, this is from those’.

دا على البشر قال ف رد الرجل اعتجاره و قال أنا إ لياس ما سألتك عن أمرك و ب منه قال ف قال أب إي و الذي اصطفى ممر أين أحببت أن يكون هذا احلديث ق وة لصحابك جهالة .غي

Heasws said: ‘So myasws fatherasws said: ‘Yes. By the Oneazwj Who Chose Muhammadsaww over (all) the human beings!’. So the man returned his turban and said, ‘I am Ilyasas. Ias did not ask youasws about yourasws matter and there was ignorance with me from it, apart from that Ias loved it that this discussion takes place, as a strengthening for yourasws companions.’48

{97ي قولون }ولقد ن علم أنك يضيق صدرك با And We have Known that you tend to constrict your chest due to what they are saying [15:97]

اجدين } {98فسبح حبمد ربك وكن من السTherefore Glorify with the Praise of your Lord, and become from the prostrating ones [15:98]

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, and Ali Bin Muhammad Al Qasany, altogether from Al qasim Bin Muhammad Al Asbahany, from Suleyman Bin Dawood Al Minqary, from Hafs Bin Giyas who said,

‘The one who observes patience, is patient (for a) little while, and the one who panics, panics (for a) little while’.

Then heasws said: ‘Upon you is to be with the patience in the entirety of your affairs, for when Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Sent Muhammadsaww, Heazwj Commanded himsaww with the observance of patience and the kindness.

الله عز و جل عليه و لقد ن علم أنك فصب ر رسول الله ) صلى اهلل عليه وآله حت نالوه بالعظائم و رموه با فضاق صدره فأن زل اجدين يضيق صدرك با ي قولون فسبح حبمد ربك و كن من الس

So Rasool-Allahsaww was patient to the extent that they came to himsaww with the bones (of the animals) and hit himsaww with these. So hissaww chest was constricted, and Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic Revealed unto himsaww: And We have Known that you tend to constrict your chest due to what they are saying [15:97] Therefore Glorify with the Praise of your Lord, and become from the prostrating ones [15:98]’’.49

هلك العاملون إل العابدون، و هلك العابدون إل العاملون، و هلك »ف كتاب )مصباح الشريعة : قال الصادق )عليه السلم : قون إل املوقنون، و إن العاملون إل الصادقون، و هلك الصادقون إل املخلصون، و هلك املخلصون إل املتقون، و هلك املت

املوقنني لعلى خلق عظيم، قال اهلل تعال: و اعبد ربك حت يأتيك اليقني.

In the book Misbaah Al Shari’a –

Imam Al-Sadiqasws said: ‘Destroyed are the workers except for the worshippers! And destroyed are the worshippers except for the scholars! And destroyed are the scholars except for the truthful! And destroyed are the truthful except for the sincere! And destroyed are the sincere except for the convinced! And it is the convinced who are upon the magnificent morals. Allahazwj Says: And worship your Lord until there comes to you certainty [15:99]’.50

تعال كتابا قبله ول بعده وفيه خواتيم من الذهب فقال له: يا ممد هذه وصيتك إل النجيب من أهلك، فقال له يا جبئيل من النجيب من أهلي؟ قال علي بن أب طالب مره إذا توفيت ان يفك خاتها ويعمل با فيه

My father said, ‘Abdullah Bin Ja’far Al Humeyri narrated to us, from Abu Al Qasim Al Hashimy, from Ubeyd Bin Qays Al Ansary, from Al Hassan Bin Sama’at,

Abu Abdullahasws has said: ‘Jibraeelas descended unto Rasool-Allahsaww with a Parchment from the sky. Allahazwj had not Send down a writing before it nor after it, and in it were seals of gold. So heas said to himsaww: ‘O Muhammadsaww! This here is yoursaww bequest to the most excellent one of yoursaww family’. So hesaww said to himas: ‘O Jibraeelas! Who is the most excellent one from mysaww family?’ Heas said: ‘Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws. Instruct himasws, that when yousaww pass away, heasws should break its seal and act in accordance with whatever is in it’.

اتا مث عمل با فيه وما تعداه، مث دفعها إل احلسن بن علي عليه فلما قبض رسول اهلل صلى اهلل عليه وآله فك علي " ع " خالسلم ففك خاتا وعمل با فيه وما تعداه، مث دفعها إل احلسني بن علي " ع " ففك خاتا فوجد فيه: اخرج بقوم إل الشهادة

لم معك واشر نفسك هلل فعمل با فيه وما تعداه

So when Rasool-Allahsaww passed away, Aliasws broke its seal, then acted in accordance with what was in it, and did not exceed it. Then heasws handed it over to Al-Hassanasws Bin Aliasws. So heas broke its seal and acted in accordance with what was in it, and did not exceed it. Then heasws handed it over to Al-Husaynasws Bin Aliasws, so heasws broke its seal, and found in it (written): ‘Go out with a people to the martyrdom for them along with youasws, and sacrifice yourasws self for the Sake of Allahazwj’. So heasws acted in accordance with what was in it, and did not exceed it.

مث دفعها إل رجل بعده ففك خاتا فوجد فيه أطرق واصمت والزم منزلك واعبد ربك حت يأتيك اليقني، مث دفعها إل رجل بعده ففك خاتا فوجد فيه: ان حدث الناس وافتهم وانشر علم آبائك، فعمل با فيه وما تعداه.

Then heasws handed it over to a manasws (fourth Imamasws) from after himasws, so heasws broke its seal, and found (written in it): ‘Remain silent, and be quiet, And worship your Lord until there comes to you certainty [15:99]’. Then heasws handed it over to a manasws (fifth Imamasws) from after himasws, so heasws broke its seal, and found (written) in it: ‘Narrate to the people, and meet with them, and publicise the Knowledge of yourasws forefathersasws’. So heasws acted in accordance with what was in it, and did not exceed it.

مث دفعها إل رجل بعده ففك خاتا فوجد فيه: ان حدث الناس وافتهم وصدق آبائك ول ختافن إل اهلل فإنك ف حرز من اهلل وضمان. وهو يدفعها إل رجل بعده ويدفعها من بعده إل من بعده إل يوم القيامة.

Then heasws handed it over to a man from after himasws (sixth Imamasws) so heasws broke its seal and found (written) in it: ‘Narrate to the people, and meet with them, and ratify yourasws forefathersasws, and do not fear except Allahazwj, for youasws are in the Protection of Allahazwj and Hisazwj Responsibility’. And it would be handed it over to a manasws from after himasws, and handed over to a manasws from after himasws, to a manasws from after himasws, until the Day of Judgement’.51

(It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullahasws having said: ‘Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic sent an Ordinance upon Hisazwj Prophetsaww before hissaww passing away. So he (Jibraeelas said: ‘O Muhammadsaww! This is yourasws testament to the nobles from yoursaww family’. Hesaww said: ‘And what nobles O Jibraeelas?’ So heas said: ‘Aliasws Bin Abu Talibasws and hisasws sonsasws’.

And it was so that there were seals of gold upon the Ordinances. So the Prophetas handed it over to Amir Al-Momineenasws and instructed himasws that heasws should untie a seal from it and act in accordance with whatever is in it. So Amir Al-

Then heasws handed it over to Al-Husaynasws. So heasws untied a seal, and heasws found therein: “Go out with a group of people to the martyrdom, and there is no martyrdom for them except with youasws, and give glad tidings to yourselfasws for the Sake of Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic”. Then heasws handed it over to Aliasws Bin Al-Husaynasws. So heasws untied a seal and heasws found therein: “Withhold and be silent and necessitate (staying in) yourasws house And worship your Lord until there comes to you certainty [15:99]’.

So heasws did it. Then heasws handed it over to hisasws sonasws Muhammadasws Bin Aliasws. So heasws untied a seal and heasws found therein: “Narrate to the people and issue Verdicts to them, and do not fear anyone except Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic, for there is no way for anyone against youasws”. So heasws did it. Then heasws handed it over to hisasws sonasws Ja’farasws. So heasws untied a seal and heasws found therein: “Narrate to the people and issue Verdicts to them and publicise the knowledge to the Peopleasws of yourasws Household, and ratify yourasws forefathersasws, the righteous onesasws, and do not fear anyone except Allahazwj Mighty and Majestic, and youasws are in Protection and Security”.

Then heasws handed it over to hisasws sonasws Musaasws, and similar to that, Musaasws would be handing it over to the oneasws who would be after himasws, up to the rising of Al-Mahdiasws, may the Salawat of Allahazwj be upon himasws’.52
