• Remarriages –Marriages in which one or both of the partners has been married before.
• Blended Families – Families in which one or both partners bring children from a previous marriage into the new marriage.
• Two-income Families – Families in which both partners work.

parent, typically formed through divorce, widowhood, adoption by single people, and births to single women.

mistreatment of a child.• Foster Homes – Homes of people who are
unrelated to a child but who agree to act as the child’s caregivers.

look after an individual who is not an adult or who is unable to care for himself or herself.
• Adopt – To legally establish a child as one’s own.• Divorce – A legal ending of a marriage.• No-fault Divorce – A divorce in which a couple
states the marriage has problems that cannot be resolved.
