Public Works: government funded building projects
New Deal: Included wide range of measures aimed at accomplishing 3 goals- Relief, Recovery, Reform (3 R’s)
Fireside Chats: radio address by FDR, speaking personally with Americans
• Subsidy: Government payment, used with farmers to grow fewer crops
• Hundred Days: Period of government activity during which FDR pushed Congress to put in place many reform measures. Opened all sound banks and encouraged people to deposit money= deposits increased.
• Dr. Francis Townsend: Criticized New Deal for not doing enough for older Americans – proposed plan for providing for age 60+ citizens
