Introduction
"And the earth was without form, and void; and
darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit
of God moved upon the face of the waters. And GOD
SAID, LET THERE BE LIGHT: and there was light”
Genesis 1:2-3
It is very important as a child of God to understand that
challenges are an inevitable aspect of life. It is a proof that you
are alive and a resident of the planet earth. The amplified bible
version of the above verse of scriptures, says, "The earth was
without form and an empty waste...” does this best describe
where you are right now? Are you at a point where you think
that your life has been wasted and nothing good can come out
of it? Are you struggling in life, and finding it hard to make
ends meet? Have the trials and challenges of life so
overwhelmed you that you feel your life is sinking before your
very eyes? Or are you at a point where you are about to say, “I
give up? Then I have good news for you. The tide is about to
turn in your favour, so do don‟t give up or lose hope. You were
born to be an overcomer! (1 John 5:4).
6 | P a g e
The magnitude of the challenge(s) facing you today does not
matter at all. You were created by God to walk all over it! And
come out victorious. Remember the story of David and Goliath.
Goliath was described as a monstrous giant, and David was
just a little boy, backed by a big God. And the rest is history.
David commonized the size of the problem and conquered the
enemy of Israel.
Your situation is not a permanent one, neither is it an
impossible case. What I am trying to say to you in other words
is that your situation can and will change! The only reason that
you are calling what you are going through, “a problem", is
because you don’t have a solution at hand.
7 | P a g e
What Is a Problem?
WHAT IS A PROBLEM?
The term "problem", is one that is commonly or universally
used by many, every time an unfavourable situation arises. For
the purpose of this write-up, I will like to define the term
"problem", as, "anything that impedes your 'progressive' forward
movement in life". In other words, any situation or event that
arises and poses a threat to your successful and prosperous
existence on the earth can be called a problem.
3 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
ABOUT YOUR PROBLEM!
1. It has a life span - Every problem in life has a life-span.
There is no permanent problem. You are the one that will
determine how long that situation will remain in your life.
Goliath presented himself to the Israelites for 40 days and 40
nights, harassing and tormenting them non-stop, until David
stepped up to silence him. Your problems will keep staring you
in the face until you are ready to confront them and manifest
your giant-killing potentials.
8 | P a g e
2. It is has a solution - There is no problem today that defies
solution. Every problem has a solution. That you don't have
one does not mean there is none. The problem you have is that
of "ignorance. God speaking in Hosea 4:6, said,” My people are
destroyed (perish) for lack of knowledge”. You are still in that
problem today because you don‟t know how to get out of it.
But the day you get the answer, that situation will no longer be
a problem to you. There is no problem to hard for God to
handle, and because you are created in His image, then no
situation must be too hard for you to handle. You just need to
find out what needs to be done. 1 Cor 10:13, says, “there is a
way out"!
3. It is not beyond you - None of the problems confronting you
today, have the power to keep you were you are. Again 1 Cor
10:13, tells us, that, God will not allow any situation that is
beyond your ability to come your way. The reason why God
has allowed that situation to confront you, is because, He
knows that you have what it takes to solve it. You are the only
one that is ignorant of your capabilities. God knows what he
deposited in you when He created you. Your ignorance has
kept you bound and rooted in that problem for so long, but
9 | P a g e
through His word, God is going to impart your life with light,
shattering every form of darkness around you.
10 | P a g e
What Must I Do?
You must do something if your situation or circumstances are
going to change for good. Not just doing something, but doing
the right thing. Doing the right thing, means, to do things the
same way God will do them if He was the one in that situation.
Ephesians 5:1, says, “Therefore be imitators of God (copy Him
and follow His example), as well-beloved children (imitate
their father)” – Amplified Bible.
In our opening verse of scripture – Genesis 1:2-3, we saw God
faced with a situation, and the first thing that He did was to
say, “Let there be light”. I would like you to take time to read
the whole of Genesis chapter one. There you will find a brief
account of how God recreated the earth. How God turned the
once horrible and wasted earth into something very good –Gen
1:31. The situation in that chapter changed because God
decided to do something about it. And it all started with God
saying, “Let there light”.
11 | P a g e
Stage 1 You Need Light
God introduced light into a situation that was full of darkness.
And this is the first thing that you must do if you want to see a
happy ending to the story of your life. You need light! And by
this I am not talking of natural light, but light that comes from
the word of God. Psalms 119:130, says, “The entrance of thy
words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
John 1:5 rounds it up, by saying, “And the light shineth in
darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. You need to
have a divine encounter with the word of God, because that is
the only way your life can be imparted with the light that you
need to turn things around. Until the word enters your heart it
cannot affect your life.
I like to break thing down a bit, so that you can have a good
understanding about what the bible calls light. The term “light”
as referred to by the two scriptures quoted in the above
paragraph refers to, “revelation knowledge”. Revealed
knowledge about the complete work of Christ on Calvary and
the right and privileges that you have in Him. In other word
you have to possess a revelational about what God is saying
about your situation, just like He did in Gen 1:3.
12 | P a g e
Having foreknowledge about what God is saying about your
situation helps to shed light on the whole situation as it is. It
helps you to know from God‟s perspective, what should be and
what should not. You can then make your choice of what you
want. Whether to remain in the mess you are, or to enforce a
change! Like is a product of choice.
Without revelational knowledge from the word of God
concerning your situation it is going to be a hard or impossible
task enforcing a change in your life. It will also hinder God‟s
plan and purpose for your life. God cannot do anything in your
life without the word in your heart. Because you need the word
for you to have the kind of faith – Romans 10:17 - that will
provoke God to move on your behalf – Hebrew 11:6. I would
like you to take some time out and go through the bible looking
for scriptures that best address the issues that you are going
through. Not just any scripture, but the ones that provide the
answers. For example for someone that has problem of health,
the kind of scriptures you will be looking for are as follows:
13 | P a g e
1. 1 Peter 2:24 – “Who his own self bare our sins in
his own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins,
should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes YE
WERE HEALED.
2. Mathew 8:16-17 – “When the evening was come,
they brought unto him many that were possessed with
devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and
healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled
which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
Himself (Jesus) TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES, AND
BARE OUR SICKNES.
3. Exodus 23:25-26 – “And ye shall serve the LORD
your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water;
and I WILL TAKE SICKNESS FROM THE MIDST OF
THEE. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be
barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.
4. Mark 11:23-24 – “For verily I say unto you, that
whosoever SHALL SAY UNTO THIS MOUNTAIN
(sicknesses and diseases), be thou removed, and be
14 | P a g e
thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he saith shall
come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire,
when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye
shall have them.
5. John 8:36 - “If the Son therefore shall make you
free (from all sicknesses and diseases), YE SHALL BE
FREE INDEED.
These are just five of the many verses in the bible that provide
answers to any health problem in life. When you encounter
light from these scriptures, it will deliver to you the power that
you need to live a sickness-free life (divine health). Remember
that David took five stones from the brook when he was
preparing to face Goliath, but at the end of the day he only had
to use one of them. The insight here is that each one of the
above verses of scriptures quoted above is powerful enough to
uproot any sickness or disease from your body. So having five
at your disposal makes you more than able.
15 | P a g e
So you need to go back to the bible, and bury your head in it,
searching every page until you find the scripture that best deals
with your problems. You have to do all you can do to get away
from your busy schedule to get busy in the place of study. If
you don‟t pay attention to God‟s word, God will not page
attention to your situation – Proverbs 4:20. Don‟t forget the
story of Mary and Martha. Martha was busy in the kitchen
preparing food for the master, but Mary sat at His feet listening
to the word from his mouth, and Jesus said that she has made
the right choice! – Luke 10:38-42
16 | P a g e
Stage 2 Speaking the Word
According to the bible, God is a creator, and everything He
ever created He did so by the power of the spoken word!
Hebrew 11:3, says, “Through faith we understand that the
worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which
are seen were not made of things which do appear”.
When you study Genesis chapter one, you will notice that the
phrase, “And God said...” appeared about nine times (vs. 3, 6, 9,
11, 14, 20, 24, 26 and 29). Everything that was created by God in
that verse of scripture was created by the power of the spoken
word. God created the heavens and the earth by “speaking the
word”. Take a close look at these two phrases from Genes 1:3-4:
Verse 3: “And God said...”
Verse 4: “And God saw...”
God could not see anything, until He said it. Everything that
God saw come into existence was a product of the word He
spoke from His mouth! Nothing happens by chance in God‟s
kingdom every manifestation of God is a result of the spoken
word. God„s word is His power. And by it He upholds the
whole universe together – Heb1:3. Every word that is spoken
17 | P a g e
from the mouth of God is potent and has the ability to create –
(Heb 4:12)
18 | P a g e
CREATED IN HIS IMAGE
“And God said; Let us make man in our image, after
our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish
of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the
cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping
thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of
God created he him; male and female created he them”
Genesis 1:26-27
God created Man in His own image. In a more simple term,
God created Man to be like exactly just like Him. To act, walk,
talk and live like Him. Man was created to operate in the class
of God. This statement may sound too far-fetched or
blasphemous. So I would like to take you back to what God
said in the same Genesis one while in the act of recreating the
earth.
Man was created after the law of creation, which states, “that
everything on the earth should bring forth after their” – Gen 1:
11, 12, 21, 24, 25. After God had finished the creation of all
things on the earth after their kind, He now turned to Himself
and said to the God head, “let us make Man after our own kind
(image)”. So man was created after the kind of God. He was
19 | P a g e
created as a god on the earth to rule in power and majesty! That
was why God came to the Garden of Eden every day to
fellowship with His new friend – Man. Adam was the first man
and he possessed the wisdom of God, and God trusted him
with the task of naming all the animals of the earth. Adam‟s
word was law in the garden.
The point I am trying to make here is that, whatever God is in
heaven, man is on the earth. Man was created with power in
his mouth just like God his creator. It is no wonder that the
bible says in proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of
the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. You
have to be very careful what you say from your mouth, because
your words can either make you or break you. Many destinies
have been destroyed because of this. That tongue in your
mouth is a fruit-bearing instrument and it will produce
whatever you say with it.
If God said, and then God saw, it means that as a kind of God,
you will see the manifestation of everything you say from your
mouth whether good or bad. That is why Proverbs 6:2, says,
“Thou art snared (taken captive) with the words of thy mouth,
thou art taken with the words of thy mouth”. A lot of believers
20 | P a g e
today have been taken captives by the words of their own
mouth. When you take a critical look at your circumstances,
you may discover that the way you speak is largely responsible
for the situation you find yourself in today. You cannot talk
down and expect to be up, nor can you talk sickness and expect
to live in health, and the list goes on and on.
21 | P a g e
WORDS ARE SEEDS
“Hearken; Behold there went out a sower to sow: And
it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way
side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much
earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no
depth of earth:
But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and
because it had no root, it withered away. And some
fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked
it, and it yielded no fruit.
And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that
sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some
thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred...And he
said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how
then will ye know all parables? The sower SOWETH
THE WORD”.
Mark 4:4-14
Words are like seed, and they have the power to produce after
their kind. The word of God is seed and it produces after the
law of spirit and life. Wherever the word is sown it produces
the power of God. And wherever the power of God is there are
miracles and signs in abundance – Luke 5:17. Genesis 8:22 say,
“While the earth remaineth, SEEDTIME AND HARVEST, and
22 | P a g e
cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall
not cease”. You will always reap the harvest of the words you
speak, because when a seed is sown, it must produce a harvest.
This is a spiritual law.
23 | P a g e
RECREATING YOUR WORLD
If things are going to begin to turn around for you, one of the
things you will have to do, is to change your language. You
have been speaking the language of the world for so long. Now
it is time for you to start speaking the language of the Sprit.
And the language of the Spirit is the word! Stop talking about
your problem and start talking about the solution. Rather than
speaking about how bad things have been, start talking about
how things are going to turn around for you. Jesus spoke about
His resurrection even before He was crucified – John 2:18-22.
You must arm your mouth with the word of God. Speaking the
word into your life and circumstances by faith, releases the
power of God in your direction. God gave Joshua the keys to a
life of distinction, by saying, “This book of the law (The Word)
shall NOT DEPART OUT OF THY MOUTH; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do
according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt
make thy way PROSPEROUS, and then thou shalt have
GOOD SUCCESS”.
24 | P a g e
When you have located the solution of your problem from the
word of God, you need to speak it out so that your problem can
hear it. When God said, “Let there be light”, darkness gave
way! Look at those problems facing you today and begin to
speak the word of God at it. When David confronted Goliath,
he began to declare to him what was going to happen to him.
David said, “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a
spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the
LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou
hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine
hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and
I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day
unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth;
that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And
all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with
sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give
you into our hands. And it came to pass, when the Philistine
arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David
hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his
forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. So David
PREVAILED OVER THE PHILISTINE with a sling and with a
25 | P a g e
stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no
sword in the hand of David.
David had already defeated Goliath by the words of his mouth
even before he ran towards him. He ran forward to accomplish
that which he had already declared. It is time for you to open
your mouth and speak at that mountain that has stood in your
way all these years. Declare your victory with boldness, and
see God move on your behalf with power and might.
26 | P a g e
THE HEART CONNECTION
“For verily I say unto you, that whosoever SHALL
SAY UNTO THIS MOUNTAIN (sicknesses and diseases),
be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and
SHALL NOT DOUBT INHIS HEART, but shall believe
that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he
shall have whatsoever he saith”.
Mark 11:23
There must be a connection between your heart (spirit man)
and your mouth, if the words that you speak from your mouth
will produce a change in your situation. The word of God must
first be resident in your heart before it will work in your
mouth. The word of God will only produce power in your life
when it is first mixed with faith in your heart – Heb 4:2. Power
is conceived in your heart, formed in your tongue and released
through your mouth. A lot of believers today only read the bible
when they are faced with a problem. But I like to tell you this,
that the word that will work for you is not the word that you
read on the day of battle, but the word you have stored in your
heart through study and meditation over time. Remember in 1
27 | P a g e
Samuel 17:40, that when David went to the brook (the bible), he
chose five stones (5 scriptures), and put them in the shepherds
bag (the heart). After that he then began to speak!
Jesus said in the above scripture that there must be faith in
your heart if the things you say must come pass. Faith comes
by hearing and hearing the word of God – Rom 10:17. It is the
word of God that injects faith into your. It is the place where
the word becomes light. Proverbs 4:20-22, says, “My son,
attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let
them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of
thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and
health to all their flesh. KEEP THY HEART with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life. You see it talks about the
heart again.
The solutions of life are conceived in the heart. It says that you
should keep the word in your heart, not on your shelf, or under
your pillow, but in your heart. It is through mediation and
speaking the word to yourself that the word becomes a
permanent resident in your life. Take those scriptures that talk
about your situation and put them in your heart and
prayerfully meditate on them night and day until they produce
28 | P a g e
faith in your heart. Faith is your sling and the word is the stone
that you need to bring down your goliath.
29 | P a g e
SPEAK TO YOUR MOUNTAIN
“For verily I say unto you, that whosoever SHALL
SAY UNTO THIS MOUNTAIN...
Mark 11:23
This is where a lot of believers miss it. Jesus said, “Say unto
this mountain”. This means speak to the problem and not
about it. If you want a problem to leave your live you speak to
it with the word of God in your mouth. Many a times, when we
go to God in prayer, asking for His help, we hardly ever go
back to speak to our problems.
Problems have ears, and they can hear whatever you say from
your mouth. Look at that sickness in your body and speak to it
using the word of God , and command it to leave your body,
and it will! That is the word of God. Jesus spoke to the fig tree
in Mark chapter 11 and cursed it. David spoke to Goliath and
cut off his head. It is time for you to tell that mountain to move,
and give way for you.
When the Israelites were trapped between the Egyptians and
the Red Sea in Exodus 14 and all people cried unto Moses, and
30 | P a g e
I believe Moses also was crying unto God in his heart, God had
this to say to Moses. “And the LORD said unto Moses,
Wherefore CRIEST thou unto me? SPEAK unto the children of
Israel, that they go forward: But LIFT UP THY ROD, and
stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the
children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of
the sea”
You see God does not want you bombarding His throne room
every time you are confronted with a problem; He has put a
rod in your hand – The Word. He wants you to turn around
and speak at your problem and command it to give way, then
come back and give Him thanks and the glory.
31 | P a g e
Conclusion
From now on make sure that every word that proceeds out of
your mouth is in line with God‟s word. It does not matter what
you see with the eyes, or what you hear with the ears, do not
let the word depart from your mouth, and before long you will
see things turn around for good. Stop exaggerating your problems
and start eradicating them! You are loaded with enough power to
light up your world, so open up your mouth and declare, “Let
there be light”.
