“Dress For Success”: Project Need• Most upcoming and recently graduated college students lack

the proper knowledge and are underprepared with proper interview dress, both informal and formal.

• This means…Current students need to receive that correct information to prepare them for interviewing, successfully.

• How can Gustavus SIFE teach upperclassman at Gustavus to dress appropriately for interviews??

Changing the world, one

“Dress For Success”:Project Description• Coordinated local business woman to attend Gustavus and

work with Casual Corner, where she works, and Knights Chamber.

• She supplied numerous examples of business clothes for both men and women so that they could see examples of proper dress for interviewing.

• Q & A session to ask various items from more on dress to other aspects of the interview in order for the students to “dress for success.”

St. Peter High School:Project Need• Electing to attend college after high school takes a great deal of

preparation.

• Part of the decision-making process that high school seniors and juniors go through is deciding what major they may have some interest in and what they may want to do with their life.

• However, high school students are often unaware of the many career options that accompany different majors.

• How can Gustavus SIFE educate local high school seniors and juniors on their options with a major from the Economics/Management department??

St. Peter High School:Project Description• Contacted George Schoenborne, teacher at the local St. Peter

High School. The Gustavus SIFE has built a relationship with Mr. Schoenborne through previously visiting his classes and performing this project.

• Gave presentations to two classes of students in “School Bank.”

• Presentation Information:1. What is involved in, what can you

do with, and what types of jobs can you obtain with a major in Economics, Accounting, and Management.

2. Importance of continued education and making the transition from high school to college.

Dispatch-N-Tow Business Plan:Project Need• Local businessman approached the Gustavus

Economics/Management department in need of advice for his newly purchased company.

• He wants to expand the company into a profitable venture for his software development company that specializes in wrecker dispatching.

• We split the project into two phases as we were aware this was a large undertaking.

• He presented to the team his ideas and what he was trying to do and we decided to create a business plan for him.

• How can Gustavus SIFE help this business man but also teach others of what they are doing??

Dispatch-N-Tow Business Plan :Project Description• Split up the research of the appropriate segments of the

business plan.

• Have team members do outside research, data gathering and rough constructing of the business plan elements.

• Frequent contact with the owner was necessary because necessary information was scarce. The company is relatively new so financial statements aren’t extensive and the operations are not well defined.

Dispatch-N-Tow Business Plan :Results & Future Plans• Results:

- Phase I is completed with preliminary research finished. We’ve decided the extent to which we can present the business plan to the businessman and how complete we make it with the information that is available.

• Future Plan:- Phase II will be completed after SIFE regional competition and before the end of the school year. This will involve final assemble of the many parts of the business plan, polishing of the information he desires and presenting the plan to him.

- Gustavus SIFE also needs to determine how to teach others of what we learned through this project and that may be done through a seminar with the businessman.

Funding:

• Because we are non-profit and do not have a lot of money, our team focused on developing cost effective projects.

• Next year we want to change this. We’ve signed up for the InkCycle program in partnership with SIFE. We want to generate a decent amount of cash flow to allow us much more flexibility in our projects and also in our recruitment for the team.

• We also will propose a budget to the Gustavus Student Senate to receive funds for our projects next year.

Changing the world, one

extraordinary place at a

time.

Goals:• Long Term (Upcoming Year)–

1. Have a solid team of 20 dedicated members built, prepared at the beginning of classes in the fall.

2. Establish regularly scheduled projects, (ex. Every last Friday of the month), providing exposure to SIFE. Projects such as guest speakers, seminars and discussion panels.

3. Create regular times to have Business Advisory Board members to meet with team to keep motivation and flow of ideas high.
