Stark State College provides quality, high-value associate degrees, certificates and professional development in a diverse, student-centered learning environment. The College is dedicated to lifelong learning; affordable, transferable higher education;

and career success. Stark State College advances quality of life through access, academic success, stewardship, and business and community partnerships.

Assembling this first annual giving report is gratifying because it provides the opportunity to recognize and thank the individuals, foundations and corporate partners who have supported the efforts of the Stark State College Foundation for the benefit of our students and programs. As the new executive director of the Stark State College Foundation, it is a privilege to work with a dedicated 32-member board to secure resources on behalf of the College. We are committed to being a good steward of these resources.

Without an accessible institution like Stark State College, many students could not realize their higher education goals. Stark State’s tuition is among the lowest in the state, but for many it is the private scholarships provided by our generous donors which create life-changing opportunities for these students. Donor gifts also fund cutting-edge educational materials, equipment and programs, which maintain the high quality and value of our degrees and certificates.

With your help, Stark State College is changing lives and building futures. Thank you for your gift.

Joanne Lally EberhartExecutive Director, Stark State College Foundation

——–––————

More than 50 years ago my mother told me, “You will go to Stark State College.” I did and I am now blessed to be able to serve on the Foundation of the College which was instrumental in building my own foundation for success. A long-time resident of Stark County, I have had the privilege of seeing Stark State College grow and have marveled at the College’s rapid and meaningful response to the changing workforce needs of our region. It is this forward thinking and sensitivity to the needs of the community which energizes and inspires me.

As president of the Stark State College Foundation, I have been honored to work with many local businesses and philanthropists who believe, like I do, that investing in Stark State College has a significant and long-lasting impact. More than 15,000 students are enrolled annually. Most will live and work in the area upon graduation, becoming vital members of the community and contributing to the economic development of the region. On their behalf, I thank you for your generosity. We are grateful for every gift, no matter its size, from alumni, family, friends, companies, and organizations.

Nearly 80% of Stark State College students work while attending college. While tuition is among

the lowest in the state, many still cannot afford to attend college. Scholarships create life-changing

opportunities for these students. In April we celebrated the success of our students and the

generosity of their scholarship benefactors at the 40th Annual Scholars and Benefactors Luncheon.

Newly established endowed scholarships

During the 2013-2014 year a record-setting number of endowments were created,

Changing lives. Building futures.

Thank you, donors! Your support demonstrates confidence in Stark State College’s importance and value as a leader in higher education and a catalyst for economic growth and community prosperity.

Thank you, members of the Stark State College Foundation Board and the many volunteers who work tirelessly on behalf of the College. The hundreds of names listed in these pages are a testament to our shared vision.

Stark State is now the fourth largest of Ohio’s 23 community and technical colleges and nationally ranked among the fastest-growing two-year colleges. Partnerships with businesses and organizations in the region allow us to continually evolve and respond to workforce needs with quality, affordable education.

While our students are diverse in age, ethnicity, academic background and academic goals, they share the common goal of seeking education that leads to rewarding careers and financial stability for themselves and their families. For more than 50 years, our faculty, staff and generous donors, like you, have been helping us “change lives and build futures.”
