HISTORIC PAST
t first glance, Trinity College looks traditional. We’re located in New England — on the thoroughfare between New York City and
Boston — where academia abounds, and our gothic architecture is classically collegiate. But we also firmly believe in progress. Our longest-standing tradition is one of independent thinking. We believe in it. We stand for it. We teach it. Nothing makes us prouder than our bold, accomplished, and innovative alumni. Our singular goal has always been, and always will be, to help our students achieve their most ambitious aspirations.

WHY TRANSFER
TO TRINITY? You’re thinking of transferring. When
choosing a college the second time around, it’s important that you choose a place that
can see you through to graduation.
2
Our rigorous academic curriculum is firmly rooted in the traditional liberal arts, but with a cutting-edge approach. You’ll learn critical thinking, analysis, problem solving, and effective communication. At the same time, our majors are wide-ranging, varied, and often interdisciplinary. So you’ll learn to chase curiosity, research thoroughly, and think independently.
Our faculty members are outstanding as scholars and as teachers. They are also diverse, both in their backgrounds and in their specialties. But they don’t stay isolated in research. Instead, you’ll work with them in the classroom and collaborate on academic pursuits. As you pursue your goals, they will become your mentors and perhaps even your friends.
Our urban location in Hartford, Connecticut, means your college experience here will be diverse and engaging. We have cultural events, sports venues, community service organizations, and internship opportunities galore. And since we’re nestled between New York City and Boston, we have no shortage of excitement, be it nearby or a train ride away.
Trinity will help you cultivate your skills, explore your interests, and discover your passions. You’ll gain a strong academic foundation, learn through hands-on experiences, and be supported in pursuing your individual academic and career goals.
At Trinity, we believe in independent thinking. We have diverse majors, minors, sports, clubs, organizations, internship opportunities, events, and experiences to help you craft exactly the education you’re looking for. It won’t be out of the box; it will be reflective of you.

At Trinity, we pair traditional liberal arts studies with real-world learning. We offer 39 majors, 27 interdisciplinary minors, 11 departmental minors, and more than 900 courses. In our research labs, art studios, interdisciplinary programs, and groundbreaking initiatives, you’ll work with professors on real projects. They’ll be mentors as well as instructors. So while your academics will be challenging, you’ll also have lots of support.
And that will allow you to craft an education that’s unique to you, one that’s anything but by the book.

Our city is 124,775 people strong
Though our close-knit campus is quintessentially collegiate, this isn’t a small-town college. Hartford, Connecticut, is in our bones. It’s where we work and intern, where we shop and eat, where we volunteer, and where we live. The lively urban atmosphere permeates even our spacious, green campus. We have club meetings and shared meals. Coffee breaks. Concerts. Lectures. Student-faculty debates. Football games. Lacrosse games. Basketball games. Art shows. Performances. Gatherings. Service days. And movie nights most nights of the week. So on campus or off, in Hartford or beyond, every Trinity student is made stronger and more world ready by experiencing the city.

AMBITIOUS FUTURE Sheila Njau
Neuroscience Major Biochemistry MajorClass of 2017
All Trinity academics have a reputation for rigor, and one of our most challenging programs is neuroscience. But to look at Sheila’s schedule, you’d never guess such a thing. Because in addition to her academic studies, Sheila conducts research with Professor William Church, writes for The Trinity Tripod, dances with the Ballroom Dance Team, and participated in Trinity’s Interdisciplinary Science Program.
As a transfer student, Sheila was impressed at how quickly she felt at home. She says, “Not only are the academics amazing [at Trinity], but it also quickly starts to feel like home. People come together at this institution, whether it be faculty, students, or even alumni.”
Susannah MatthaiPsychology MajorClass of 2016
Trinity offered Susannah the opportunity to be a student who is recognized as an individual and who is motivated by her professors and her campus community — she is not just a number in the system. Susannah says that she saw how “Trinity students seemed to have it all, balancing rigorous course loads, athletics, jobs, social lives, and activities and clubs.”
Since transferring, Susannah has embraced the high level of academic and extracurricular engagement characteristic of many Trinity students. The College’s small class sizes have helped her foster meaningful relationships with her professors, both within and outside of her major; she often sends them interesting articles to read or meets them for coffee. In addition to her studies, she has played on the volleyball team, tutored at a local middle school, and worked in the Admissions Office and with other transfer students to ease their transition to Trinity. In her junior year, Susannah studied abroad in London, where she held an internship with a nonprofit organization.
With her Trinity liberal arts education, Susannah says that she now feels “prepared to tackle the daunting, competitive postgrad world.”

Erik BloomquistTheater Major, Music MinorClass of 2014
Erik excelled in the classroom, but it wasn’t where he felt most comfortable. Erik belonged on the stage. At Trinity, Erik participated in the Trinity Film Festival and served as director and choreographer for theater department and musical theater shows. He also hosted, and won, our Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest.
Erik transferred to Trinity and immediately started taking advantage of everything the campus offered. As he said as a senior, “I’m still discovering new places and things on campus. New spots in the library. New clubs. New academic resources. New programs and people. Trinity is deeply rooted in tradition but takes advantage of appropriate innovation, giving it the best of both worlds. It is also an extraordinarily beautiful campus — making it perfect for work and play.”
