LBD

The concept of the "little black dress" is often cited as a Chanel contribution to the fashion lexicon and as an article of clothing survives to this day.

BURGUNDY

The original version was construct-ed of jersey or leather, the outside featuring a hand-stitched quilted design influenced by the jackets worn by jockeys. The chain strap was a nod to her orphanage years, reminiscent to Chanel of the abbey caretakers who wore such waist chains to hold keys.

The top 10 Chanel Bag`s for spring-summer 2013.

Chanel, the greatly anticipated brand of iconic tweed de-signs and quilted

bags, brought a great show to Paris Fashion Week. Karl Lagerfeld continued the leg-acy of the refined collections of classic Chanel through his 1960’s-inspired Spring/Summer collection of a wide array of styles.

Chanel is definitely a brand to always pay attention to and this season they have not disappointed. Karl La-gerfeld branched off in many different directions, but overall brought a fun and cohesive collection that makes a fashion statement while appealing to the mass-es.

“We think very much that the perfume is a se-duction between a man, a woman and the perfume”

Marilyn Monroe claimed it was all she wore to bed; ac-tresses Catherine Deneuve, Nicole Kidman and Audrey Tautou have since posed as the face of the iconic perfume, and now Brad Pitt is rumoured as the new ‘face’ of Chanel No. 5. It was revealed back in May that Hollywood actor Brad Pitt had been signed up as the first male spokesperson of Chanel's iconic No.5 scent, and now there's only 10 days or so left to wait until the fruits of his labour are finally revealed. A commercial overseen by Atonement and Anna Karenina director Joe Wright will break on October 15, and see the Killing Them Softly star fill the shoes of former Chanel No.5 ambassadors Nicole Kidman, Vanessa Paradis and Catherine Deneuve.

It is the first time in the fra-grance's 91-year history that a man will front the scent's campaign, and while little is known about the theme of the commercial, Pitt talks in a way that makes the viewer assume he is talking to a woman, but it is then revealed he is address-ing the scent.

“To keep a legend fresh, you always have to change its point of view,” Chanel Fra-grance & Beauty president Andrea d’Avack told WWD .

“We think very much that the perfume is a seduction between a man, a woman and the perfume” explained d’Avack. “No.5 is our leading fragrance, and we are willing to make the investment to keep it on that level.” Said ‘investment’ is thought to in-clude a pay check of $7 million (£4.32m) for the 48-year-old’s services.

The print ads are due to break in the forthcoming Novem-ber issues of the glossies but we’ll be staying glued to our screens for Pitt’s Chanel TV de-but: Wright is the man respon-sible for the ‘mini blockbuster’ Coco Mademoiselle ads in which Keira Knightley zips around the streets of Paris on a motorbike.

According to E! Online , the actor is shooting the cam-paign in London this week. The 48-year-old and his fiancé Angelina Jolie, along with their six children, have set up home

-in the capital due to forthcom-ing filming commitments.

Pitt is thought to have signed a seven-figure sum for the con-tract, which either means an on-tap supply of Chanel No. 5 for Ms Jolie, or a plentiful kitty for her other scents of choice...

Chanel's photographic exhibition dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld's latest book, 'The Little Black Jacket: CHANEL's classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Car-

ine Roitfeld', will open at the Saatchi Gallery in London in October.

Following on from Tokyo, New York, Taipei and Hong Kong, this special event underlines the brand's values of creativity, modernity and excellence.

The public will discover the versatility and timelessness of the iconic CHANEL jacket through Karl Lagerfeld’s 113 pho-tographs, modelled on a range of friends of theHouse, with each personality adapting the garment to reflect their own inimitable style - worn as a cape on singer Lily Allen, draped around model Stella Tennant, or even transformed into a vest on model Edie Campbell.
