Term 4 is shaping up to be extreme-ly busy. The students have entered artworks in the NSW Art Gallery Drawing Competition. The theme was ‘Summer time’, one of our art-ists created a scene showing stock being fed! We will hear how the stu-dents went in this competition early December. We enjoyed our day at Thalgarrah orienteering. All Chan-dler students put in an amazing ef-fort to complete the course and Chandler/Ebor came in overall 4th place. We then went to NERAM with Mrs. Weier and had a close look at the artworks from the Hin-ton Collection and other artists. Great inspiration was gained and students added to their own art-works when they returned to school.
We had a great day at Ebor School
yesterday attending the Life Educa-
tion Van and engaging in a very
productive workshop with repre-
sentatives from the Red Cross. Dun-
durrabin, Hernani, Ebor and our
Chandler students have been ex-
posed to bushfire emergency situa-
tions and related well to the work-
shop. Students produced beautifully
decorated safety pillow cases to car-
ry important things when faced with
an emergency evacuation.
We are counting down to our Coffs Harbour excursion, next Thursday. The Boom Town Busters and the Chandler Crusher team have worked extremely hard in prepara-tion for the First Lego League Chal-lenge. We appreciate the generous assistance we have received from the Chandler Parents and Citizens committee, your support means a lot to us.

Super Student Congratulations Zana Ross who is our Super Student this week. As part of Junior Lego League Challenge the students identified issues around local waste. They discussed ways to take action about this issue and they wrote a letter to our local member Adam Marshall to ask for a Return and Earn vending machine for our community. We received a call from Adams office and he was very impressed with Zana’s letter. He has forwarded documents to assist with the process of applying for one of these machines, well done Chandler students and especially Zana. This has taught the students that even children can make a change in actions and attitudes within their community.

Rotary Club of Armidale Central
We would like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to the Rotary Club of Armidale Central
who have generously supported our school children with a donation of $1000.
The Rotary Club wished to provide support to
those affected by the drought in our local ar-
ea, and decided the best way to do this was to
support some of the rural schools in the area
to enable pupils whose parents may be experi-
encing hardship due to the drought to engage
fully in school activities.
They asked to pass on their best wishes to all
our families and local community.
Lenovo tablets
Stuck for Christmas Gift Ideas? We have a number
of Lenovo Tablets available to purchase from
Chandler School for a very low $60 each. These
tablets are virtually brand new, however do not
work well with our departmental network. We
would love to see them go to a new home where they
can be used to their full potential.
If interested, please call the office.
Leadership Luncheon
Mrs Frizell and School Captain Edward Baker travelled to Peterson’s Winery on Monday to attend the Leadership Luncheon. It was a great opportunity to mix with Year 6 leaders from other schools and Adam Mar-shall who gave the students terrific advice about the challenges and rewards of taking on leadership roles.

What is physical literacy and why is it important for your child?
How you can nurture your child’s participation in sport and physical activity at home
Our school recently secured funding from Sport Australia to run a Sporting Schools program Tennis.
We know the students loved this program and it was a great way for children to find their 30 at
school, however, while adults need 30 minutes of physical activity a day, children need 60. So, as well
as finding 30 at school, they need to be finding 30 at home.
Sport Australia has provided us with some useful information on how parents and carers can continue
to nurture a child’s participation in sport and physical activity and find their 30 at home.
Physical literacy provides the foundation for a lifelong connection to sport and physical activity. It is
about developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours that give us the confidence and motivation to
move more and lead an active, healthy life. You can help develop your child’s physical literacy by cre-
ating good habits with daily physical activity by increasing the opportunities for play-based activities
at home. Entice your child/ren away from screen-time and teach them how to climb a tree, fly a kite,
kick a footy or go for a bush walk together as a family. Encourage your child/ren to: help choose and
plan the activities; set goals; and talk about how they feel while engaging in the activities. As a bonus,
research has shown that children who are physically active achieve greater academic success and
maintain higher attention levels during class at school.
See more examples of how you can support your child to develop their physical literacy and some ac-
tivities you can do together as a family https://www.sportaus.gov.au/findyour30/challenge.
We can all develop our physical literacy at any stage of life, so why not do it together! Find a new sport
or physical activity you can try with your family this term.

Transition
Our Transition to Kindergarten Program is running every Thursday
in Term 3 and 4. It is an outstanding program that ensures students
transition into Kindergarten with confidence. If parents and carers
know of any four year old children that may be interested in our
program, please contact the school for enrolment information.
