C -J Mixed Chorus Mo/~es Fram popular tunes suc.h as The Rainbow Connection, to jazzy pieces li/~e Bird/and, or the classical Ode to Joy, the C-J Mixed Chorus certainly does ma/~e their own 14nd of music.
The Mixed Chorus cansists of sixty srudent vocalists who are dedicated to this dimension of the music departmenr. Each practice begins at 7:45 wee/~day mornings and losts until 8:.JO.
The Christmas Concert, the Pops Concert and the Festival of Music are the three annual music deportment cancerts. Other 1982-83 performances of the Mixed Chorus included singing at the Solem Moll Christmas festivities, visiting nursing homes and hospirols, providing grade schools with a chance to see the Chorus in action by visiting the schools, and singing at the Chaminade, Julienne, St. Joseph, and C-J annual alumni moss.
. . .. . Their Own /{ind Of Music The Chorus hod two instructors this year; Ms. Katie Fazelfus directed during the first semester and Ms. Ruth Gilley during the second semester. The four officers of Chorus were Angelico Caldere, Lu/fe Dollman, Mary Wiedeman, and David Smith.
Although the Mixed Chorus is hard WOrlf and requires early morning practices, the rewards of putting on a good performance and experiencing a feeling of self-achievement ma/fe the sacrifices worthwhile.

Cheers! Our high school con often be thought of as one large community composed of smaller, more closely I~nit families. One af those families is the C-J Cheerleaders. Clinics are held befare the May tryouts with only the girls who con show the spirit, enthusiasm, and smile that every cheerleader needs being as/~ed to join. Once accepted, 'plans for camp are made where the girls learn the !otest techniques used in building routines, stunts, and pyramids. Once school starts, the girls are thrust onto the sidelines of football and soccer fields where they put to use all they have learned at camp. They cheer to arause the crowd and chant to bring the Eagles to victory. When the D-ballers begin to dribble and the wrestlers begin to gropple, the girls bring it on inside to once again cheer and chant; ta puff and pant. This year the cheerleaders competed in the Dayton Mall Cheerleading Invitational where they placed 1st in division AA and Jrd averall out of 15 teams. Runner-up in spirit. This year's captains were Rabin Rice and Natalie Jones. Natalie was also chosen Miss Cheerleader far the 1982-8J season.
