SPRINT TRIATHLONOn Saturday, September 27th, forty racers congregated at the YMCA to participate in the annual Sprint Triathlon. Many volunteers also donated their time to assist in this event. The race began in the YMCA Huber and Walker Pools with a 500 meter/yard swim. Upon completion of the ten laps, the racers embarked on a sixteen mile bike ride across the rolling hills of the farmland that surrounds the Chambersburg area. After returning to the YMCA to park their bikes, the racers mustered enough courage and stamina to finish the race with a 5K run. The event went off without a hitch, thanks to the hard work of the YMCA’s dedicated volunteers. The YMCA would also like to thank the racers for participating in this year’s race.
To participate or volunteer in next year’s Sprint Triathlon or other similar events, please contact Chris Misner at

BIDDY BOOGIE
My name is Petrina Rakintzis and I have been a member of the Chambersburg YMCA since 2012. The YMCA has impacted my life in such a great way! For many years I have struggled with my weight. I tried many diets and exercising at home but nothing seemed to work for me. Three years ago I was at a place in my life where I looked at myself and was so unhappy with my appearance and my health was not the best. My two kids were motivation for me to improve my energy and to have a healthier lifestyle.
I joined the YMCA and soon started Zumba and Body Sculpt classes. When I started to see a great improvement, I started
taking various other classes such as R.I.P.P.E.D and TRX. These classes, combined with healthy eating habits, helped me lose 100 pounds in 2 years. I am happy to say that I have maintained a healthy weight for about a year now. I am still working towards toning and learning new and fun ways to enjoy exercising. I owe many
thanks to my instructor and YMCA Fitness Center Director, Linda Ehrhart, because she has inspired me and helped me with all the classes she teaches.
If you are truly ready to change your life and commit to losing weight for whatever reasons you may have, it can be done with determination and devotion. I never thought in a million years I would be this happy with how I look and how I feel overall!
