50 Community Supporters for“Fergus Falls Business Gives”
Most business owners give back to their communities in countless ways but are modest at best in receiving kudos. At the State of the City Luncheon on April 5, we recognized more than 50 Chamber members who give at least 2% of their pre-tax earnings for charitable and community involvement activities through cash donations, in-kind services/products and volunteer hours. Because recognition is based on percentage, a small business who gives $1,000 receives the same recognition as one who contributes $10,000. The Fergus Falls Chamber’s recognition program began in 2009 with 11 recipients and this year we recognized nearly 60 businesses for the 2018 “Fergus Falls Business Gives.”
When you do business locally, it has a positive impact on countless projects and organizations including Fergus Falls Public Library, Someplace Safe, sports booster clubs, Girl Scouts, United Way, 544 Foundation and countless others. Because of their generosity, we have a thriving arts community including theater that is accessible for everyone and art galleries that feature local and nationally recognized artists. Thank you to those businesses who encourage their team volunteering as members of our Service Clubs.
We encourage people to support all chamber members as they generously give back to the community, strengthening our community and enhancing our quality of life in Ott er Tail County. Together, communities and businesses partner to solve community problems and address community issues. Many have recently donated time and money to enhance community assets such as the new turf at Ott er stadium and the re-opening of the Lake Alice Skating Rink.
