Park Falls Designated Snowmobile Friendly
Community
Greetings From the Executive Director
A Newsletter for Chamber Members & Park Falls Area Promoters
March is here so that means that spring is near…
That’s music to many of your cold ear…
At this long cold time of the Northwoods year…
But do not fear as “SPIKE” the CarQuest Tortoise is always near...
On Feb 2 it was clear that no shadow was seen and that only means one thing…
Welcome to the Northwoods the early SPRING…
Everyone in the Northwoods either loves or tolerates the long cold winters. But for many
businesses it can be a great time of the year. With strong ice fishing, snowmobiling and silent
winter sports the economic impact can be a great one. This year started out early with a lot
of snow and mostly mild temperatures. Each weekend the roads were filled with people
headed up to enjoy our paradise. Hopefully everyone had a great winter season and is pre-
paring for the start of the spring and summer visitors.
A brief history on St Patrick's Day
St Patrick's Day is not a federal holiday in the United States. St Patrick is one of Ireland's pa-tron saints and many Americans with Irish ancestry remember him on March 17. The most common St Patrick's Day symbol is the shamrock. The shamrock is the leaf of the clover plant and a symbol of the Holy Trinity. Interestingly enough the first St Patrick's day parade was not in Ireland, in in Boston in 1737. St Patrick was not Irish, he was believed to be Wales or Scot-land, where he was abducted and brought to Ireland as a slave.
Remember that the staff is here for YOU. If you have any ideas or suggestions, we want to
hear them from you. Give us a call, email us or even better stop in and say hello.
Thank you,
Edward J Kane

State News WMC Statement on Gov. Evers’ Tax Cut Veto
“Unfortunately, Gov. Evers once again has looked for ways to increase the size of government at the expense of the taxpayer. We are disappointed in his veto of yet another middle class tax cut. If we want to continue to grow our economy and attract a talented workforce, we need to show Wisconsin is an affordable place to live – that includes the tax climate. Yesterday’s ac-tion by Gov. Evers is a tremendous missed opportunity to make Wisconsin a more affordable
place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Wisconsin governor issues 17 more pardons
Evers’ office announced the pardons late Wednesday afternoon. The people’s crimes including stealing stolen calves, attempted burglary, arson and dealing marijuana. Most of the offenses
were committed decades ago.
Wisconsin Drug Pricing Bill Makes Headway
Pharmacy benefit managers, or PBMs, negotiate prices with drug manufacturers on behalf of insurers. They also process claims and keep a list of what drugs will be covered by insurance
Manufacturing companies continue to loosen requirements for employment
No high school diploma, no work experience, no problem. That's what more manufacturing companies in northeast Wisconsin are saying to job seekers according to the state's Workforce
Development Board.

March, 2020 Coronavirus Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.
Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.
Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.
Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
World Health Organization
Imported cases of COVID-19 in travelers have been detected in the U.S. Person-to-person spread of COVID-19 also has been seen among close contacts of returned travelers from Wu-
han, but at this time, this virus is NOT currently spreading in the community in the United States.
The potential public health threat posed by COVID-19 is high, both globally and to the United States. But individual risk is dependent on exposure.
• For the general American public, who are unlikely to be exposed to this virus at this time, the immediate health risk from COVID-19 is considered low.
Under current circumstances, certain people will have an increased risk of infection, for exam-ple healthcare workers caring for patients with COVID-19 and other close contacts of persons
with COVID-19. CDC has developed guidance to help in the risk assessment and manage-ment of people with potential exposures to COVID-19.
The U.S. government has taken unprecedented steps with respect to travel in response to the growing public health threat posed by this new coronavirus:
• Effective February 2, at 5pm, the U.S. government suspended entry of foreign nationals who have been in China within the past 14 days.
U.S. citizens, residents, and their immediate family members who have been in Hubei province and other parts of mainland China are allowed to enter the United States, but they are subject to
health monitoring and possible quarantine for up to 14 days.

Chamber Connection March, 2020 One of the main goals of a chamber is to help support our members. We do that by promoting
them and getting them in front of the right clientele. Helping the community grow is also something that is very important to a chamber.
This year we will be doing that with four bands at Flambeau Rama!!!! They might get to live out a dream and play on the BIG stage Saturday night!!!
Do you know a band that can rock the stage at Flambeau Rama this year? Do you think they might enjoy a $2,000 prize? AND open for Boogie and the Yo Yoz Saturday night?
Have them fill out an application and see if they can become the Battle of the Bands Champion !!!!

Chamber Connection March, 2020
Being a member of the Chamber of Commerce is a great way to get your business connected
with other businesses as well as with customers. A century ago there was only 40 US cities
that had a Chamber. Today there are more than 7,000 Chambers, Boards of trade and desig-
nated non profits advancing the interest of the communities. The numbers show that being in
a dedicated and driven Chamber results are driven.
What is a Chamber of Commerce? It is a partnership between professional people and
businesses. This is a voluntary partnership designed to better the quality of life in a communi-
ty and advance the business in the marketplace. Over the last year we have been listening and
reacting to the feedback we are getting. You have seen many changes over the year and about
to see many more……
As a chamber works to improve the quality of life and the economy in an area it does it with
these objectives in mind:
Help the members grow and prosper
Increase the opportunities for employment in the area
Work for an orderly expansion of the economy
Bring excitement to the residents so they feel rejuvenated in the community.
Promote and provide education to the membership
Connect the students and business owners so that they can grow together.
GREAT Things to COME…….. Just wait…...
