October proved to be a month of change for your Chamber. Most notably, was the sale of the log cabin at 631 S. Colorado. You will now find fellow chamber member, McKinley Rother Group, at this location and the new owner of the property. The Chamber office relocated to it’s new home this past week at 702 Commerce Street. As many of you know, we’ve spent the last 18 months renovating what has been historically known locally as the Retherford House. We’ve been busy preparing and setting up the office, and were ready and fully functioning as of this past Monday. Signage is currently being addressed, and in the meantime, we will be using our vintage sign from when the Chamber office was located on the square. Speaking of vintage, we have a nice surprise for our visitors and members. While going through storage totes during our move, I came across black and white, 8x10 photographs of most, if not all, past chairmen of the board. These gentlemen, along with several ladies, will be on permanent display in our conference room. Please stop in to take a look. You will discover multi-ple generations from the same family who’ve served as your chamber chairman, such as the Clark family; W.P. Clark in 1951, W.P. Clark, Jr. in 1963 and Tim Clark in 2003. There are numerous examples of fami-lies that have passed on the tradition of service to com-munity to their descendents. When I sit at the confer-ence table and look upon their faces, a heightened sense of dedication and accountability is undeniable. I find it to be both humbling and inspiring. As a reminder to our members, the conference room is available to you and your business as a meeting facil-ity. It is a private room and can hold up to 25 people. Please call the Chamber office at 512-398-2818 for more information. Angela Rawlinson President/CEO
