COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVESUpon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:• Describe currently available cardiac

biomarkers and when to use them for patients with chest pain

• Summarize current treatment of non-ST elevation myocardial infarction in the very elderly

• Describe how to evaluate patients with chest pain and renal dysfunction

• Describe treatment of congestive heart failure in patients with renal dysfunction and those with preserved ejection fraction

• Describe how to determine if CRT and left ventricular assist device therapy is working effectively

• Identify how to differentiate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy from athlete’s heart

• Review current pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and anticoagulation strategies in patients with atrial fibrillation

• Describe how to measure the QT interval, and how to manage patients with recurrent syncope, VT and inappropriate ICD shocks

• Describe how to interpret hemodynamic data in patients with pulmonary hypertension

• Describe when to refer adults for ASD closure

• Describe when to refer a patient with an abdominal aortic aneurysm for operation versus stent graft

• Apply guidelines for evaluation of patients undergoing non cardiac surgery
