Why Career Ready?CHALLENGE:• Career Awareness: Insufficient knowledge among
Hoosiers about career options
• Talent Pipeline: Indiana employers often struggle to find qualified employees
• Skills Gap: Prospective employees often lack essential soft skills and specialized technical skills
Career Ready… By the Numbers• 80% of employers want new hires to have completed
an internship…
• Only 8% of students say they invest time in internship experiences…
• 100% of Indiana colleges and employers say every student should have a career-based experience before graduating
Career Ready Mission
The Career Ready Indiana campaign aims to ensure every Hoosier student has at least one
work-based learning experience before graduating from high school and college.
Career Ready Goals• Educate students about the many career options in
Indiana, especially in high-growth sectors
• Expose students to work-and-learn experiences that connect classroom learning to employer expectations
• Equip students with the education/skills required to succeed in their careers and meet employer demand
