Richland Center Chalk Fest
Timeline:
Registration Check-in will begin at 8:00AM Chalking will go from
Check-in to 4:30PM Judging will start from 4:30PM to 5:30PM Ballots
will be counted from 5:30PM to 6:00PM Awards Ceremony will begin at
6:00PM
Spectators will be able to appreciate the art until the
chalkdisappears by natural causes
(rain and foot traffic)
Rules of Participation:
Participants who are 6 years and younger will not beable to
compete by themselves. They can onlyparticipate with a group of
older artists or in the
Childrens Chalk Zone Participants must be 7 years of age to
participate.
Children must be supervised by an adult.
Artwork must be appropriate to be seen by the public.No nudes,
business logos, advertising, or politicalstatements
Only chalk or soft pastels are allowed to be used on
thepavement. No fixative or hairspray allowed
Artists must stay within their designated areas and notinterfere
with artists at work around you.
Non-compliance with these rules may result in removalfrom the
festival.
The Chalk Fest committee may use photos for futureadvertising or
media purposes.
General Suggestions:
Dress appropriately! Wear a hat and sun screen toprevent
sunburn.
Knee pads are recommended
Pastels will be provided, but if you run out of a color youmay
either purchase additional pastels from theregistration tent or you
can trade with your fellow chalkartists.
Chalk Workshop: Thursday, April 25th @ 4:00 and 5:30pm
Learn the basics of creating chalk art from the local High
Schooland Middle School Art Teachers. Ask questions and get tips
onchalk techniques.
Awards:
There will be two awards in each age grouping:
Audience Choice Award $50.00
This award will be chosen by the audience and artists
Judges Award $50.00
This award will be chosen by a judge. This person will choose
awinner based on specific art criteria

7 years-17 years 18 years- 100 years
In Case of Rain:
Sprinkles dont scare us!
But in case of heavy rain Chalk Fest will be canceled and
therewill be no refunds.

1996 Hwy 14 West; Richland Center, WI 53581
Follow Hwy 14 turn onto Hive Lane and drive up to Richland
Center High School. There will be parking all around the
Chalking
area.

Deadline for early registration is April 20th
You are welcome to register at the event the day of the event
ifthere are spaces available.
Must be 7 years of age or older to participate. Those 6 years
oldand under can participate in the Childrens Chalk area.

The Richland Center High School has cement sidewalks which are
split up by naturalcracks in the pavement. The spaces vary in size
due to these natural breaks in thepavement; therefore we cannot
guarantee specific sizes. However, we will try toplace you in a
relative size range choose from:

Childrens Chalk Zone is $2.00(for childrens chalk, no
pre-registration is necessary)Early Registration for a student is
$10.00Early Registration for non-students is $13.00 Registration
Fee at the event is $15.00
Fee includes: the reserved space, a box of chalk, and a bottle
of water
