What Gifts Will You ShareThis Christmas?

Offer Peace, Hope, Love and Joythrough Alternative Gift CardsFrom toys to clothes, to the latest electronic gadgets; each year

we hope to give the perfect gift to someone we love. Yet these

gifts, as wonderful as they may seem, eventually wear out,

break, or simply become useless and are soon forgotten. This

year we invite you to give Christmas Gifts That Wont

    Break.

Our Outreach Ministry is offering an alternative gift market

providing you with alternative gifts that truly bring Hope to the

world! With an Alternative Christmas gift, you honor your lovones and make a difference in the lives of people around the

world at the same time. Alternative Christmas Gifts dont get

returned because the recipient already has one. Theyre perfe

for the person who has everything and are sure to bring sm

to the gift recipient and to the faces of those who receive the

    benefit of your generosity.

Stop by the gift market table in the rotunda and look throu

the gift catalog. Inside you will find hope-giving projects such

Infant Crisis Services, Refuge Fellowship, and Global Ministrie

When you purchase a gift you will receive a greeting card and

envelope to give to your gift receipients. Inside the card there

will be a message conveying the gift of hope and details of the

goodness you have done in their name. So join us in respond

to the needs of the world, by giving your friends - and those in

need - Christmas Gifts That Wont Break!

Let therebe peaceon earthand let itbegin withme. Wisewordsespeciallyat this time

of year. This is a season of peace, butthat peace begins with each of us. Innerpeace. Sometimes inner peace is verydifficult to find, but that is the Adventgift you have been givena gift thatwont break.

The first thing to strive for in findinginner peace is to be at peace withyourself. Love yourself, see yourself asGods gift to the world. God loves you,so you should love you, too.

I read an obituary of a youngwoman who died of cancer a fewyears ago. The names of her familywere mentioned, some of heraccomplishments and expressionsof sorrow were also outlined, butmost intriguing was the ending to theobituary:

Here are some things we learnedfrom Sarah.

Accept life as it happens. It is whatit is. Banging ones head against a wallgives you a headache.

Chill. Useless energy is best spentpetting a dog.

Accept yourself as you are. Evenbald and yellow.

Laugh out loud whenever possible.Always have a positive outlook.

    Negative people are energy suckers.

Enjoy life. Dance if you can. At tvery least, move your shoulders.

Have no enemies.Be good to your friends.Be patient. It is what it is and it

takes the time that it does. Youll getwhere youre going anyway.

Trust that most people are actingwith good intentions.

Be calm in a storm. Theres plenof time to flip out later.

Inner strength can come in softpackaging. It is infinitely more durablthan a steely exterior.

    Sometimes it takes someone faci

tragedy to teach us the important thinin life, like finding inner peace. So trMay the peace of this season be in ouhearts and souls today.

As Christians we are called to prepare for the coming of Christ during the season called Advent. It is a time of preparation, and for slowing

down. This Advent we will be focusing our worship on the Gifts That Wont Break.

What are those gifts? They are those gifts that cannot be lost, that never go out of style, and that are independent of the chances and

changes of life. They are the gifts that have been graciously given by God. The gifts we share which bring hope, joy, love and peace to fam

ily, community, and world. These true gifts of the Advent season - hope, joy, love, and peace- have a permanence that speaks to genera-

tions of children past, present, and future.

We invite you to join us for one or more of the events youll find listed here. Bring your family, and friends and come as we bless eac

other with reminders of what this Advent season is aboutexpectation that God is going to be among us to help us in the work of trans-

forming ourselves and our communities with hope, joy, love and peace. Rev. Chris Shorow

Jesus and the Gospelswith Rev. Chris Shorow 5:30-6:30We have four different views of the life of Jesus in our Bible, as

the New Testament gives us four gospels. Each has a unique

perspective and offers us insight into the life and ministry of

Jesus Christ. We will look in-depth at these witnesses, their dif-

ferences and what it says about our faith and what we believe.

No registration required for course, but please register online

for meals to ensure adequate preparations are made.
